Fairleigh Dickinson University

A fairly new and unpopular company in Vancouver that follows autocratic management.  As previously mentioned in some reviews, all departments fight each other for resources, which is absolutely true. A toxic work environment, which their own staff confesses to the new employees upon their joining. No orientation, no training, and highly lacking teamwork with no team building activities. They prefer to hire their own international students to work there. The company may need to encourage and start over with a new and young talents.

•	Work as GA to Administrative Director at FDU
•	Assisting professors and departments with various administrative tasks.
•	Organizing undergraduate events.
•	Finding information in libraries.
•	Researching internet sources.
•	Undertaking various fieldwork research.
•	Attending seminars and periodically lecturing classes.
•	Assisting with teaching material.
•	Conducting building staff meetings.
•	Administering performance evaluations of student staff.
•	Assisting with the management of ceremonies and campus events

I learned administrative skills throughout the course of my employment. There were a lot of tasks to do, i.e. organize events, enter data, issue transcripts, etc. We had to run deadlines. However, we worked together as a team and everyone was being supportive. The supervisors were understanding. The hardest part of the job is looking at the screen for a long period of time, which can hurt the eyes. The best part is the co-workers were great to work with.

I learnt how to make student online ID and help new students with that and also assist students with computer faults, forgotten passwords, network problems.The workplace was very fun loving as I met people of different culture and everyone was loving and caring.The hardest part of my job was to deal with new comers and best part was when i made them to deal with their issues

There is never enough staff. They don't hire in advance even when they know someone is leaving. They don't offer anything to retain an employee. They try to do fun events for staff and students but the compensation is really not worth it. Not at all competitive.

FDU-Vancouver is a NPO that provides scholarships for Undergraduate Programs. I like the fact that the University wants to help students pay for their education. Not many universities offer such opportunities. 

Great work-life balance, however I worked there for about 3 years and never had a salary increase or opportunity to grow. They usually hire students who have graduated from there, which is bad for the university's growth as they barely have people from the industry who could bring in new ideas.

Assisted with all orientation events;
Helped direct new students and their guests around the campus; Assisted in preparing campus for orientation days;
Explained academic and social opportunities as well as available services for new students.

Amazing place to work. Loved it!!!
Respectful understand the needs of their staff & provide the support accordingly. 
Diverse and listen to their employee.

FDU is a nice place to work for.  People are welcoming and always ready to lend a helping hand.  As an educational institution, they make learning fun and diversity is embraced.
