Fallsview Indoor Waterpark

I begun employment with the company as a Lifeguard and upon my first day, I knew this place was in rough shape. The facility and amenities were and still are run-down.  For a family attraction that sits ontop of a casino. One would think that the GM can provide the appropriate upkeep to their facility, that is a fat no. The staff culture and management team was "spotty" so to speak. Smiling faces but an unwelcoming feeling. My first day I jumped in the wavepool to perform a rescue for DNS (drowning non-swimmer). The lifeguard that was training me did not react and there was no EAP (Emergency Action Plan)Team to meet me at the pool. I was very surprised by the lack of training. It more so the staff were just there, existing to get a pay check, they had no real means to care and there was no room for advancement. 

There was a recent change in Management and most of the former team was let go. I had seen an opportunity to advance and applied. The current management team still sees some internal challenges but overall the Employee Management has greatly improved. Much more welcoming energy, stronger communication, monthly department training, new policies, new hiring system, implementation of internal workshops/ courses to further skills such as SFA & CPR-C, Swimming Lessons and Leadership Development. Behind the scenes there are bi-monthly staff events whether for appreciation rewards or to go out for fun  together. A recent trend I have noticed is that employees are taking more responsibility to show up for their shifts or find coverage. Operations are running smoothly. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
While I'm working i can watch lots children go down the slides and have fun with their family's and answers questions to people and or help them out in any way I can. The Waterpark is great place for family's to have fun and get away and enjoy life 😊 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not much stress it all depends on how people look at it. And or what's going on with co workers at the time.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Its a indoor Waterpark its hot and humid there and people having fun 😁 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Some days are busy other days can be slow. It depends on the month and what's going on during each month.

the majority of the people who work here have stayed because they are part of the ‘in’ crowd and the other staff are treated like **** it’s not worth working here as they are understaffed and will have the audacity to tell you that you arent working hard or fast enough. the management will undermine you and carry the biggest power trip while you do the dirty work. never work here unless you like a toxic workplace environment where they could care less about their staff.

I used to love this place years ago, it was my time working here the reason I want kids, but it’s not the same anymore. Phones haven’t been repaired on the slides for years, things don’t get fixed till years later, some coworkers are always late and don’t seem to know how to do their job, but some are ok. Supervisors are generally nice and hours are flexible. It’s a minimum wage job with some room for advancement.

Honestly not a bad work environment, the staff members are all pretty nice. However,  if you don't make really know anyone that works there already or don't try to make friends it kinda makes you feel like an outsider. The managers/supervisors are a hit or miss (you either get along with them or you don't).

The management here is amazing, everyone is very nice and understanding.  My co - workers are generally really cool people.  When i work here, it is always a stress free place to be with a lot of room to get up, as the hotel loves promoting inside the company.

In the workplace of the waterpark, it is extremely hot with temperatures reaching 80 Fahrenheit on an average day. the workload on a day to day basis is consistent and is a doable amount of work to finish by the end of the day. the maintenance of the park itself was done every week and was clean for customers.

Management will always try to accommodate your needs and want to see you succeed and do well. The staff that work here are easy-going and fun to get along with. There is never a dull moment at the waterpark.

Everyone here at the waterpark is friendly and willing to help anyone. It is a pleasure interacting with so many guests throughout the day, but it does get a  little hectic around there when holidays come around.

The staff is nice, and the job is relatively easy to do. The killer thing for me and many other staff members was the heat. It is very humid, and it can get tiring. Other than that, the environment is friendly, and the work is easy.
