What is the best part of working at the company?
Being "self employed" you can set your hours by your availability.
So for someone with a full or part time job its convenient as long as you ensure at the time of your interview make sure you are clear about your availability.
Some clients have events and programs and these are set times as the family pay for these. So if you are not available in those time slots ensure you communicate that with the family. 
The more transparent you are at the initial interview is vital cause you can put families in a bind when they need support at a specific time. I have had a great experience and I ensure that I am as clear as possible. I have classes (post secondary) classes and I know in advance that I can ensure I have time to get from the support time and then to my class and/or appointments i have pre scheduled. Having a good repour with the family is key as well. If you also don't feel that you are a good fit after your first one or 2 outings then just let them know. Its not personal...you know what you can and cannot handle or work with. So being honest if its not a good fit right off the bat is your best bet than drag it on and not be a benefit for the person you are supporting. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You are self employed so its not the company. You are hired by the family.
I can't say I've had a stressful part cause I'm as transparent right off the bat. 
I have had more stressful aspects with people in the public that have been unkind. I have a difficult time with people like that. I've done my best to keep a lid on it when I want to voice my opinion...but its not professional nor good to bring it to the attention and also put the person you support in an uncomfortable or a confusing situation when they may not be aware of what I see and what I observe..so why bring attention to the ignorance of others like that. 
If you have a rough outing or challenging outing in anyway...keep an open line of communication with the family.

Family Respite Services has provided me with one of the most memorable, rewarding, meaningful positions I have ever had the pleasure and honor to have. The opportunity to work alongside such incredible coworkers, all of which are dedicated, friendly, educated and flexible, made it feel much less like work. The youth I had the incredible opportunity to work alongside changed my life for the better, and taught me so much. The managers are extremely busy and at times can be distant, but this allows the respite providers to explore their own abilities and grow as a person - as I did. Had my supervisor been much more involved, I likely would have felt micromanaged but rather I felt that I had freedom and options, as well as being a trusted part of the Family Respite team. Overall 10/10 job and I truly believe that anyone who enjoys working alongside youth should consider applying to FRS.

On a typical work day I go in to the home get kids ready for school clean up after kids are gone to school and start lunch's for the next day.
After school I go back we have dinner do a little activity if we have time (Ex. Puzzle, Game Board, etc..) Then we head out to the nightly activity which is different every night (Ex. soccer, swimming, music,  gymnastics, etc..) 

I enjoy sending time and working with most of my co-workers some do not have the knowledge or education I believe they should. Some are just rude. 

My job is great I love the kids I work with and have fun every day I think of them like younger siblings, at the end of my day I love my job and would do it for ever if I was able to balance it with a home life and family. but because the hours are so all over the place it makes it hard early mornings and late nights.

A typical day at work would be meeting children with a developmental disability and helping them get to their next developmental milestone, for example, in language and communication. I learned to harbour great respect for families of all backgrounds. I also learned patience and the importance of empathizing. The management was great, caring, and responsible. My co-workers were hard-working and determined to do a good job. The hardest part of this job was maintaining a calm and objective manner at all times. The most enjoyable part of this job was spending quality time with children and learning to keep my mind open.

A typical day at work includes, data entry, filing, answering phones, searching for information for upcoming events. Through my time I spent at Family Respite I learned to be confident in the tasks that I performed, I learned that I work well independently or within a team, also to apply the skills that I learned while I attended St. Clair College. The co-workers that I worked with were very helpful and friendly. All of the tasks I was given were all enjoyable as they all helped me gain experience for a job that I enjoy.

Working with the company was very rewarding. I had the flexible schedule, which allowed me to pay attention to other aspects of my career. Most job positions are on call basis, where workers are paired with families in need of respite support. So, workers are able to build professional relationship with families on personal basis - which usually translate to more hours.

Every child is different and has so many different abilities to share. It is very rewarding helping children reach their full potential. You are allowing them to feel included, to participate and go places they may never get the opportunity to.

This is a great job to learn more about disabilities and help children and their families. You really connect with the children and it gives you a greater sense of appreciation. Also flexible work hours.

Family respite services gave me the opportunity to work with a family with two autistic boys.  I grew as a professional, and was opened to many different learning opportunities every day with the boys.

Each case will be different depending on the parents and their preferences but most of the time parents are just happy to have an extra pair of hands around to relieve their stress even if its just a few hours a week.
