I have never worked for a company who treated their employees worse. I have seen numerous staff brought to tears by their shameful management (including myself) in the short time that Ive been with the company.

The training is horrendous and they expect you to know how to complete all tasks after one 8hr training session. When you ultimately fail due to not being shown the "farm boy way" then specialists will inspect your inferior work and publicly barrade and shame you.

Specialists will also sit in the office and talk negatively about you in front of your peers and cause a toxic working environment and inadvertantly turn people against you. Ultimately beating you down and leaving you feeling defeated and less than.

Chef department is a joke and no one is laughing.

Scheduleing is a whole other problem like none Ive ever seen before. There are a reason for unions and this company is it. Long thankless hours, back breaking work all without a simple act of recognition or thank you.

It is a very busy and fast paced environment. I have learned a lot about many kinds of food and different products. 
At current I am dealing with improper scheduling and am dealing with management. I do find it a bit frustrating at times. 
The staff on whole has made me feel welcome and has been there to help. There is a high turn over rate unfortunately which is due to an over expectation of what is required in a short period of learning time. There is not a universal code as in most grocery stores so a new system has to be learned.For example the universal number for bananas is 4011 and at Farmboy it is 80250, 
The hardest part is making sure you have the right numbers and are quick enough, which I find tends to take away from customer service. The most enjoyable is the new friends I have made with this company, the staff on a whole are very friendly and we look out for one another.

I’ve been working at farmboy for 3 years as a casual so abt 5-10 hours a week. mangers look out for each other and treat anyone lower then them poorly, my manager made me do all of his work so he could play iPhone games in the office but what really sucked about that is the work he was supposed to do took more than 2 hours so on top of that we still had to clean and help customers. it can be very stressful, also there’s a huge lack of communication with the managers, they never listen to you, I’ve probably had to ask my manger to update my schedule 5 times before I had to ask someone else to do it. Overall as a full time job it might be better but for anyone in HS or college/uni stay away. The only positive are some of the employees there, a lot of the other part time and casuals are really cool and nice

Ive worked at Farmboy for almost two years, Started in 2017. when I first started, I was not trained properly. This made it hard to advance as fast as I could.  I enjoy the atmosphere, the job itself is not too hard at all, although a lot is expected for being so understaffed. The job should have 3 people working at all times, but they only have 2 people on, sometimes even only 1. If one person cant make it for their shift or calls in sick, it ruins the whole day. Management doesn't ever like to give raises, you'll only get raises at the end of the year. You also get bullied by management to take shifts or take in more hours, and as a full time student who didn't stand up for myself, it took a cost. I feel bad for writing such a negative review, even if its true. Farmboy isn't a terrible place to work, but find a better job if you can.

Working as a cashier, management in our store was poor. Always had to be over the top to the customer when they were rude, ungrateful and uncommunicative with you. Expect long hours, limited breaks, ungrateful management, and cut in hours. Long periods of time standing on feet. 
Co workers where pleasant on the most part but any management staff was not friendly towards staff or grateful if you stayed longer, came in extra etc. Scheduling was a nightmare, if you requested time off it was usually ignored and then their response was oh well....it was ridiculous. Unless you were among the managers favorites or part of her secret facebook group did you get extra hours. Glad to be out of there!! 
Poor management will be the downfall of this store.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It's fun and they actually care about you.  There's sick days, a pention and every year you get a personal day.  It's easy to book time off.  And if you work hard you can move up pretty quickly.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Customers can be demanding.  Holidays are busy but the days go by pretty fast 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Like any other big company.  Everyone gets along pretty good.  Everyone respects each other.  There's no drama.  If you have a problem you talk to the store manager.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day for me is pretty busy.  I work in the bakery so there's always things to be done.  It can also be very physical depending on which department you work in but every department is different.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Worst higher management team company wide.  Do not care about employees or work life balance. Will not recommend

No work life balance. Just a number

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Horrible, stressful, never recognized for a job well done, however very quick to point out flaws without considering circumstance. For example work/staff ratio. Consistently working short handed, and dept managers are expected to not leave until everything is done

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Dreadful. Limited breaks. Breaks were scheduled however as a manager you were made to feel guilty when taking them

So when I got this job I was not sure what was going on in the back for that department. It was a mess back there so much stuff all over it was like the last team they had working in that department quit at the same time and no one to work it so stuff just got stacked and stack to no one ever really touch them . I started to get it all fix and being there the time I was it look like I just started there and did not look like much change but lost a lot of stuff to to stuff was out dated and never made it to the floor to even sell it and that stuff have a 4 or more shelf life so that tell you a lot 

What is the best part of working at the company?
As a manager the benefits were very good and the company matching up to 3% of an investment in retirement pension was very good

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Like many companies being asked to complete work that 1.5 people should do in the hours budgeted for less than optimum pay

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Many days were more stressful than they should have been due to work hours being  cut. Possibly because I was raised to work hard and make sure my job was done correctly

But for one assistant manager I had positive experience overall. Don't expect that your productivity will be recognized depending which department you are in. Also the general manager is unappreciative as well. Stay on his good side. It pays minimum wage but there are opportunities for full-time hours. Overall it's probably the best grocery store in town to work at.
