The company was able to work around my schedule well, I was constantly pressured into working more hours/guilted into staying when I attempted to quit. The perks are awful, stemming from a "reward" system that does not account for the expensive clothing at all. Advancement is poor as well; consistent intense work and high hours (even in stores without assistant managers) will not lead to any sort of promotions, nor do associates receive pay raises, even after years of work (from my experience of other staff). While my manager was phenomenal and saved the entire job for me, I have heard horror stories from other locations. While some coworkers became close friends of mine, others made me fearful of going into work (these problem relations were never addressed). Upper management, while meaning well, was questionable at best.
However, most clothing is beautiful (even if obviously tailored to older audiences) and it is easy to become very attached to it. Even with the stereotypical awful customer here and there, the experiences with the great ones are memorable even to this day. Get ready for a very up-and-down job.

I was hired to help with their "pop up shop" from April-July. It was great helping customers, managing the store alone, or with another associate. Cleaning and tidying the store and making sure the clothing were sized and hung properly on the displays.there was no cashier (till) in the store, so we had to walk over beside to their main shop to ring in customers items. 
Once July 1st came, it was time to work in their main shop. It was great up until, associates fought with each other and the work place began to become more negative. When it came for me to go back to school in September, they hired a new assistant manager, who basically ran the store, and took a lot of our hours away, but I felt cheated due to the fact that I loved working for the company, but due to my school hours, I couldn't commit to full time work, and they gave me 1 day every two weeks and that wasn't enough for me.

This company has poor management and cares little for the staff who work their butts off day in and day out. You'll never get a raise and you'll never advance, there's no room for it. If you ever have an issue with how things are run (ie: management pitting co-worker against co-worker) your hours will be cut and you'll be forced to quit. The condescension rolling off the company's supervisor will make you sick. 
Really you're little more than a glorified telemarketer as they want you calling the same handful of customers on a daily basis. And don't bother suggesting anything that would improve how things are run, they don't want to hear it.

According to the owners/management, the customer is always right and always honest.  LOL You will be fine if you expect the absolute minimum support from management. On the other hand, they do love to micro-manage. Whatever you do is wrong/unacceptable. Usually there is no parking available and closing is often done alone.

Fashion Addition (Edmonton) is a fun place to work, with a manager who cares about her staff.  Co-workers are friendly, supportive and helpful.  A professional environment with respect shown to each other's culture and backgrounds.

I worked for this company for far too long, to the point I got bitter. There's NO room for advancement, they expect you to drop everything and stay after store hours for the precious princess after hour shoppers. They treat you like scum if you don't make your sales, and god forbid you want a day off - not happening. Would not recommend. And the clothes....oh lord LMFAO

Enjoyed working there, was a happy bunch of co-workers.
The hardest part of the job was having to call people at home to lure them into the store.
The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting the people that came in and helping them choose their new wardrobe. (loved doing that).

I loved working at Fashion Addition in down-town Vancouver. The girls I worked alongside were very supportive and created a great work environment. The visual merchandising side of my role let me be very creative and use my skills. I love fashion and being creative so this role was perfect for me.

Work days were somewhat slow at times
I learned a lot about how to help women find the right clothing for different occassions.
Management was good and helpful when I asked questions.
The hardest part of the job was trying to make sure the clients were happy with what they purchased.

The Staff were great to work with and it was a good environment. would highly recommend.
Would work morning and get out at a decent time.
most enjoyable part of the job was you always had great customers and ones you see regularly.
