I started here as a class one driver. First year was much more consistent work wise and I basically drove my own truck 95% of the time.  Money wasn't really best , job was sold as 15 hour days in the beginning  , as time went on I only experienced about 2-3 weeks of that my first season. 
Second season there was far less work available, averaged out at 3 days a week for 4 months.  As a class one you're expected to haul equipment , run skidsteer if you can , flag traffic and depending on the proficiency of your skidster operator there can be lots of shoveling involved.  Alot less work this season blamed on the rain.

If you value a personal life forget it, if you want to with Vance you’d better be best friends with the superintend it, management sees you as a number not a person, if you have a serious injury just say goodbye to your job, if you like doing a job we get no satisfaction out of getting blamed for everything you do this is the place for you, you will get no support From your supervisor or management everything at this company is a blame game, people aren’t there to help each other there there to hang you.....

As title states, unless you know someone in the company in a higher position than yourself, advancement opportunities are non-existent. Tried to learn concrete finishing for 3 years after starting as a skilled labourer, and did not receive any formal training or pay advancement despite my want to progress. Poor communication with upper management and workers, and bare minimum benefits despite having to pay for them.

I was hired as a skid steer operator 4 months prior to writing this. This is a forewarning to any other future hires. Everyone one their sites is a bobcat op, so enjoy holding a shovel. They cannot find laborers or flagges so you will be stuck doing both. You will not get a break, you will not be paid fairly and your hours will not total up to anything you'll be able to do better for yourself with.

Advancement isn't performance based. It's mostly about your relationship with "higher-ups". Those who are family, or have long standing friendships/relationships with those in power are the ones who get moved up.  Experienced gender based discrimination in the training process. Worked hard always, but was continually looked over for lateral movement because of my gender, and lack of ties to the "company man".

Work would range from multiple local jobs in a day to one job that would take 3 weeks. Tough to balance work and home life, with not having a schedule, but it was good honest work with a great crew.  Only downsides were not having much notice as to when you would have to work next, and not having work in the winter, although it is possible to get on for snow removal with them, I believe..

Your experience depends on which crew you end up on. Some have great people and some are horrible. This company had much more work in the past but each season got worse after an another. It's hard to make money compared to past seasons. 

Great job that gives you a feeling of self worth at the end of every day knowing the effort you put in to getting the task at hand completed. The aches and pains of the job remind you that you are alive and not a simpleton pencil pusher behind a desk.

Learned from the bottom until I was knowledgable enough to work on string line measuring and leveling design of sidewalks and roadways before the concrete pour. -Distribution and assembly of string line pins and lines according to job site requirements.

I started the season late because I was waiting for a previous job to start and it didn’t. I knew a few people who worked there and they got me a job interview right away. It’s concrete so it’s hard work. Good people.
