The Safety department at FedEx Freight is in dire need of significant improvement. Unfortunately, the leadership responsible for shaping the department's strategic vision lacks the necessary knowledge and expertise to guide it effectively. Instead of fostering a collaborative environment, management tends to deflect blame for shortcomings rather than addressing them head-on.

Communication from management is virtually nonexistent, leaving employees to navigate challenges independently. The training provided appears to prioritize compliance over practical application, leaving staff ill-equipped to handle real-world scenarios. When seeking assistance, employees are often met with dismissive responses, further exacerbating feelings of isolation.

Performance reviews are another area of concern. Senior management rarely follows up or provides constructive feedback, leading to a lack of clarity and direction. For instance, criticisms regarding the JHSC committee were issued without any firsthand investigation or dialogue, underscoring a disconnect between management and the realities on the ground. Reviews often rely on hearsay rather than a comprehensive understanding of employee performance.

Additionally, the expectation to be available around the clock, particularly when the linehaul network is operational, is unrealistic. Employees face pressure to respond to driver calls constantly, and any failure to do so can result in blame for missed runs due to "safety unavailability".

In summary, if you are considering a role in this department, I strongly advise you to negotiate your salary upwards by multiplying the offer by 1.5. The current environment does not support employee growth or well-being, and significant changes are necessary for it to become a conducive workplace.

At FedEx Freight Dorval, bureaucracy is extremely deep in the heart of management. Supervisors and managers are so poor at leading people, initiating idea and influencing people because of their poor leadership skills and overall abilities to improve performance.

They are so fearful of empowering their people to perform better, they may think that empowering and developing their people will make the management insecure and become dispensable one day!

A wise man once said "If a guy works for you, don't let him get too comfortable. Don't let him get cozy or set in his ways. Always do the opposite of what he expects" 

This sums up the backbone of the philosophy of FedEx Freight Management.

Working here at FedEx freight for 7+ years was amazing. I learned eveytujf from day 1. Starting from agency to getting hired.
It's a very good company to work for lots to do and it enjoyable and fun however you have to be willing to work and love what you do. Don't depend on yourself that this is just in for the  $$$ but also depend on it as a career. Always new things to learn and environment is interesting. Wish u di not leave but I had to do what I had to do for myself and family.  I recommend it.

Close coordination and exposure to learning and acquiring computer 🖥 skills.

Sometimes being alone in the office.

Proactive collaboration and oversight of efficiency in the processes of handling frieght and delivering quality services.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A basic day at the office simply has Entry level admin tasks. Answer phone calls, respond to e-mails and print out Delivery receipts.

Very good place to work. Good pay and Benefits. Be sure you're in decent shape or it can get extremely challenging to last the full shift. Other than the physical requirements, it's a great place to work. Maintain a positive attitude and do the job to the best of your ability and you'll be greatly rewarded for it. This place can change your life for the better if you do well and take advantage of advancement opportunities.

Job is not secure. Very unprofessional manager and supervisors. Not a good place to work. Stressed and overwhelmed.

Very stressful, supervisors are micro managing, Managers and supervisors have zero training in mental illness, employees suffering from mental illness are often looked upon as second class citizen and down and not being taken seriously as such lots of turnover. 

Depending on your shift you will be forbidden from having a personal life regardless if you make plans for 4+ hours after your shift you will not make those plans.
Afternoon shift has zero coverage for sick employees, zero training, zero management.
Also the benefits look good and cover alot but cost you an arm and leg.

I worked at FedEx Freight for 14 years. I left because I moved out of country. Good company, good income, well trained staff. It’s like a warehouse job. Same thing every day. Not for a driver who wants to long haul. 

Fedex is a very busy organization, however, Team Work Environment and Managements Skill Level that was easily past on to the Dock Associates and Supervisors, the job was very enjoyable. Day to Day, we've work hard for the Company and especially our Customers.
