Field Placement

CDCD works to build stronger community through their mission, values, and goals. As an organization and as individuals, they strive day to day to really help people. It was a wonderful place to spend my field placement.

In respect to HR, I learned so much about design, facilitation, and evaluation of training programs. How to build them effectively and efficiently the first time. This knowledge I will take with me everywhere.

I also learned a number of other tasks and how to go about performing them in an organized fashion, as well as understanding the problem or need which created the tasks. Understanding those problems and needs, helped to make concrete decisions to solutions.

Overall it was a wonderful experience. I regret not working there anymore.

In the field placement, I had assisted  the dentist in various restorative & endodontic procedures.I also had the responsibility to maintain  sterlization & disinfection in the dental clinic. Along with these procedures, I had taken many intra-oral & panoramic radiographs in both pediatric as well as adult clients. Moreover, I also held the responsibility for coronal polishing & the fluoride application. I also managed the clients' appointments. In the field placement, I have learned about the time management & how to work effectively in high pressure situations. The co-workers were great & friendly in nature. They helped me alot in different situations with the clients. The hardest part of the job was the time management. The most enjoyable part of the job was taking different radiographs.

My typical day at work is making sure all clients are well and having conversations with then to see how their recovery is working for then,chore lists,ordering dairy, checking chores and adminastating nightly reports.
I have learned some case management,catalyst and gain,how to work as a team and to leave my personal life personal.The management is very fair with all employees. The workplace culture is vast and exciting,to get to know different ways each culture thinks and copes with different life situations. The hardest part of my job is not getting to close to the clients because if they relapse or graduate their program it is hard to say goodbye.The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing clients achieve their goal and visit or call and let me know they are doing alright.

My typical day would be learning something new. I was assigned the job of sending retirement quotes and taking their information out of the HRIS system. I was also givin the task of inputting the data information of the new hires. My co-workers where great. They where very helpful and extremely friendly. The most difficult time for me was when there was no work to be done. I like to keep busy and sitting idle is very difficult for me. The best part of the placement was the amount of proceedures I have learned and performed for this company. I never had a difficult employee to deal with or a task I could not perform. Wish I could have stayed and the people I worked with did as well.

Arriving at work half hour early ready to go, reviewing your residents notes to see how their night was, if i have any thing to look out for or keeping an eye on, or if there's anything to report to the nurse on charge. A smooth day is what you look for but nevertheless accidents happen and you have to deal with immediately and ask for help when need. Have a good working relationship with co-workers and management and if any concerns or problems talk to your supervisor about it. the hardest part of the job is not getting along with co-workers, or having a resident that"s having a ruff day.an enjoyable day is a smooth day, all residents or most residents are happy and just to see another day.

Working with Allstate was part of my education with Durham College for field placement, I was required to complete certain duties as per the manager, which included cleaning the filing cabinets, little tasks to help the assistant and complete the prospect list.
I learned alot about my career, and insurance during my time in placement, it gave me the opportunity to excel at what had been learned in school.

There was no difficult job.
The best part of working with Allstate was being able to help them become for efficient in their office, and help them with the tasks that they may not have been able to do prior to me not being a placement student.

My experience at my field placement had been amazing not a day have i ever regreted going to work.for me going to work was another happy exciting day. I love working as a pharmacy technician.I learnt alot i can not even mention it all,some of the examples of what i learnt are; how to take care of paper work,treat patients/customers,operate computer,doing orders,faxing,cahing,cleaning organizing the shelves and fridge,control drugs and many more.People i worked with were all pleasant,i learnt that treat other with respect and they will do the same.The hardest part of the job having to standing for long hours ,but i found a way to balance and enjoy standing.

•Prepared personal tax returns on profile software for over 100  clients
•Contacted CRA on a daily basis in regards of client’s     information
•Completed bank reconciliation statements , and general ledger   using Quick Book software
•Entered and paid invoices into the  computer system to maintain detailed records
•Managed payroll for the client’s employee 
•Produced cash distribution cheques accurately and on time
•Created an office manual for employee using Microsoft office
•Used client track to keep record of all clients and their priorities 
•Using Excel spreadsheets to analyze and compare a business monthly expenses

organize the files, check the calendar for important court date or other appointment date, review client's documents and do the case law and statue research, drafting legal memo and court report. contact client for interview  and court trial preparation, read relevant news and gazette or reports by LSUC. Plan for the CPD,
Communicate with colleagues and other paralegals to discuss the legal issues of the case. watch some current news and TV programs. Take 20 minute's walk and enjoy some sunlight if possible.

 Reviewed and updated client files on Time Matters and PrimaFact
 Participated in new client interviews and off-site intakes
 Preparation of Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) OCF forms
 Participated in client/ insurer Statutory Accident Benefits mediation with FSCO
 Trained in administrative and accounting procedures using PCLaw
 Reviewed and compiled required documents in preparation for FSCO Arbitration
 Prepared applications for Mediation and withdrawal requests to FSCO
