 We have great product. The buyers do an excellent job. Pricing is competitive. Our mission statement is important: "To help our customers live a better life for less". They appreciate that we are here for them. We interact with them, we get to know them. We have all grown with Fields in a positive way. It is difficult to deal with shoplifting. It just shouldn't happen, but it does. Home office is very supportive & available. Personally, I enjoy being creative, the merchandising, the freedoms to give our store the WOW factor, the feeling of a job well done. Teamwork. 

They hire managers that are ineffectual and rude. It was discouraging to come to work and hear that your manager was talking behind your back instead of coming to you to give feedback and criticism. It was a hostile workplace, I left as soon another opportunity came up as I was burned out from doing the work of 3 people. The manager intentionally kept us short staffed and when confronted on the matter, they we very defensive despite HO's policy for staffing. The company only offers part time hours to anyone that isn't the store manager. It has potential to be a good store but more of a liquidated bargain/junk store.

As the manager I was responsible for the day to day running of the store.
I did scheduling, received stock, merchandised, dealt with customers, handled cash, cleaned, took part in weekly phone conferences, and answered to the District Manager.
We also sold food items, and had to keep track in a special binder of expiry dates, which was a new learning experience for me.
We sold both hard lines and clothing, and I loved the stock we carried. That always makes it easier to sell.

I'm given the opportunity to express my opinions and ideas. I feel like I get to be a part of the whole picture and engage with my team and Managers. Its great to be able to come to work and not feel alone or isolated. I've never worked in a job where I felt appreciated, I get told Thank You daily for my hard work, and honestly I ask myself why it took me so long to come here, as the culture is so forward thinking, and engaging. 

We all enjoyed our jobs at Fields when it was under the orginial HBC blanket ,how ever due to Target buying out Zellers and Hudson Bay being sold to an Amercian Company . There were a lot of changes made ,not always for the better of their customers or staff. They have closed all Field stores across Ontario

As Manager, I performed both opening and closing procedures. I was responsible for hiring and training team members. 
This was a very busy workplace, but it made for a better day. 
Customer service was first and foremost, but we also had stock deliveries, merchandising, some specific stock ordering, cash handling and bank runs as well.
I truly enjoyed this job.

If you’re looking for a job that isn’t all about paying the bills this is a great one to have, coworkers are fun and easy going, management is straight forward but with care and higher management was awesome. Super understanding and so easy to get along with! The wage sucks, so ignore the “competitive pay” part in their ads but aside from that 100% recommend.

the customers were great and patient that i was training for this positions. the co-workers were very helpful when i was training for this position. the hours a week were a little less then perfect. over all it was a great position.

I've never owked for a company that checks your bags as you're leaving. You have to take a tobacco course every month. Really? For minimum pay? One of the orst experiances of my life, and I'm in my fifties.
