Finance Department

My work responsibilities at FIN consist of providing clients with technical expertise and advice regarding interior design options, space design, and workstation configurations. I also assist client groups with the relocation of departments and people. Responsible for updating and maintaining AutoCAD drawings, corresponding with moving services and contractors, planning and supervising building renovations and small projects. I also have sufficient knowledge of PWGSC space standards, accommodations management legislation, policies, trends, real property project management, standards and practices. I have experience with financial and contracting practices related to accommodation management.

It's a professional working atmosphere. I've learnt a lot through my colleagues and team leaders about working with less supervision. My co-workers are helpful and we get along easily. 
 
The hardest part of the job would be when there is a reconfiguration done to the system and we are given a deadline to complete the task before handing over to the users.

The most enjoyable part of my job was implementing the annual national budget and handing over the budget books to the government.

I had only been with Finance for a couple of weeks when my son ended up in hospital unexpectedly. I was given the time off I needed to be with my son for the first week of his stay in hospital and my hours wear accommodated for his second week. For that I am exceptionally grateful.
Management found work for me to do after what I was contracted for was complete and helped me get established as a full time employee.

Everyone was very nice and dilligent. I never had a problem with anyone there, and it was a pleasure to work there.

Typical day would involve me coming in around 8 AM and working until 4:15 PM. I did a variety of things and every day was interesting. Management was very easy to work with and very open and responsive to any issues or developments.

I have enjoyed every bit of my career here.  The hardest and sad part is continously changes of management. Mismatch of persons and positions decisions made by top seniors.

A lot of learning within over a month with the Department of Finance in Igloolik, good paying job and good environment. Quiet place to concentrate and it was great getting to know how the Finance workforce works.

Being a public servant was rewarding in my work experience, training and balance of home/work life.

Amazing people, lot of strategical discussions happened to gain consensus from the bureaucrats. People overall, had been very polite and understanding.

I am getting helpful information. Everyday various job posting and auto reload job list leading towards the goal.I have applied many and received interview calls.
