Financial Debt Recovery

This had been my first collection agency but i could tell they did things wrong. They are money driven, You are on an automated  dialer all day calling accounts that have zero contact. This method does not work. I was told you are running your own business but at FDR this is not the case. They do not allow you to work your own desk (files/accounts) giving them the freedom to collect the direct funds as they do not give the collectors a chance. There is no job security nor, respect towards others (customers and employees). 
The HR dept does not exist as multiple problems had been reported with no resolution as the employee is a good friend with the owner or he can bring in money. The high turn over rate is due to the system they place you in. FDR has no real training procedure, reading from a print out does not teach one collections, but this is what they resort to. After reading multiple pages and filling out sales based questions you are shadowing agents who are so new they shouldn't be training (they are not being compensated for the training nor is it in their job description). The high turn over rate has produced a toxic work environment with senior collectors and administrators who can get away with anything (breaking dress code, extended lunch and smoke breaks, having their phones out). Also, the high turn over rate exists within the company as well. They tired to hire internally multiple times without training collectors to become managers. This ultimately hurts the company and collectors as the whole department now has to "help" the new manager as they are not fully qualified for the position but have been there long.  
The VP of Directors comes off as a nice bubbly man but when months end comes and the company isn't near its target he screams and threatens his employees with no sick days (as he sees them as vacation) and then talks down to them about all the issues within the workplace. 
Further, The low wages are to make up for the potential to earn commission. This hardly happens now at FDR. I heard from senior staff at my time there that three years ago it had been a different time and there was more money to be made. This is okay however, the company has not adjusted to the pay rate if they set you up for no commission with all the funds going to the house. 
There are prizes to be won at the end of every month for those who receive tickets due to hitting their target, closing files, ect which make the work place enjoyable if you are in the contest. 
To sum up, I dont believe anyone should waste their time at FDR. If you are a new collector or want to try the feild, go else where as you will not learn the skills to become one. if you are an experienced collector, you will be able to make it if you are given a good desk however files are gifted to many of the favourited employees forcing you to do overtime (which is required for your job safety) and collect inbounds to reach your target.

I really enjoyed my tenure here - short as it was - and it was largely because of the people I worked with. Some of the agents are a little stressed, and not all agents are professional, but they were a fun bunch to work with. Some departments do their best with the resources available to them.

The senior management team, in particular the VP of Operations, and some of the managers and supervisors, and the entire HR team, were really just terrific people, very hard working, but incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and really did their level best with their backs against a wall.

The biggest - and really, only problem, is the CEO. He's running a business to be sure, but there are problems - his treatment of staff, including other managers and senior staff, and the haphazard management style that lends itself to absolute chaos and mismanagement, are just a few of the biggest issues. You're never quite sure from one day to the next what to expect from him. It's great to have a CEO so hands-on, but in this instance, it would be better if he trusted his senior managers to do their job accordingly. Don't be surprised if he melds 18 different sports analogies and references into one convoluted and nonsensical statement that nobody really understands. When he's in a good mood, he's great to be around. When he's not, he really isn't - and that may explain the high turnover rate.

Wouldn't go back there, but wouldn't not recommend the experience to anyone else. It is definitely a learning experience.

Terrible place to work. The environment is toxic, stressful, and extremely unstable. Instead of helping new employees learn, they make you feel uncomfortable for asking for  support. There is little to no proper training, yet expectations are unrealistically high from day one. The company only seems to care about money and hitting targets. Employees are treated as disposable, and there is a constant feeling that you can be replaced at any moment if you’re not producing results fast enough. Turnover is extremely high, which says a lot about how employees are treated. People come and go constantly, and there’s no sense of stability or appreciation. This job feels more like a last resort than a real career opportunity. Would strongly not recommend to anyone looking for a respectful or healthy work environment.

The work environment was toxic and stressful. Communication was poor and turnover was extremely high felt more competitive than supportive

Mostly stress and pressure to hit targets a ton of cold calls. Environment felt tense, communication was poor, and employees constantly felt like their job was on the line

The environment is the worst I have ever worked for in my 11 years of collections.  Clearly the family members who work there get special treatment over regular employees.  There is no training whatsoever and the turnover ratio is the highest I have ever seen.  The human resource person on the 2nd floor is the worst in the business.  Only there because of who she knows. Did little work as possible and would rather gossip to other managers about collectors than do the job they were paid to do.  Numerous complaints made by collectors on one specific supervisor.  Only thing done about that was firing the employees who made the complaints.  In regards to be written up, there would be group write ups of over 12 individuals at the same time in 1 room which is illegal.  No chance at building up your desk as if you don't hit your target in 1 month you are out the door.  When termination came around no reason was given, no letter was provided and no severance package was offered and this is after the probationary period ended.  I'm surprised this company is still in business.

Arrive 1 hour before employees get projections and dialers(link back) loaded to IT. Have a strategy in please for my staff and ensure that it is met by end of day. In some case prizes are used as incentive to motivate staff. Day compiles of monitoring, helping and training staff if required to ensure we are all doing our tasks efficiently. My Management experience has really escalated my work experience and learned to work with a wide range of cultures and egos. I have a great ability of finding strengths ion people and letting them know and work with them and encourage them to use it. The hardest part of the job was the micro management and the fear you were going to be fired everyday.
The most enjoyable aspect was working with people and under my leadership at times winning all the quarterly races against our competition. . Hard and smart works pays off in dividends in the end. I have proven that in all walks of life and been successful doing it. I would love the opportunity to have an interview soon.

Even if you go hungry, avoid working at the FDR-corrupted location; there is no respect and improper HR; the CEO, management, and HR are all as bad as a garbage disposal. My worst work experience was being unemployed is better than working there if  you work hard, they do not want you there; instead, they prefer individuals who are just like them. disrespectful attitude and laziness   
Working there made me putting so much effort to reach where I am now seeing a place  like this will give energy to make sure you would not see bad place like this anymore in life

staff are Intimidated into doing UNPAID overtime, Most of the collectors are friendly and there is a lot of wasted talent there
seems that management only cares about the numbers. managers openly discuss their staff performances on the floor, the system they use is so outdated i'ts not even funny 1980 computer software along with 19090\s  phone system again  would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The management is full of lies.

They say you will make alot of money but they harass you to call people at their jobs and threaten them to pay in full now or they will sue you.

When I felt bad about the methods they chose.  The management verbally harassed me in their office, swearing and yelling at me to the point where I was crying and they told me I am too soft for this business.

They made work so hard for me that I had to quit.

I worked at FDR Limited for nearly 2 years and was not happy with the work environment and the managers asking their staff to work for free on the weekends in order to try to collect money from CIBC credit debtors or our jobs were threatened.

Due to feeling overwhelmed and stressed by management, I had to look elsewhere.
