I started working at First College somewhat recently, and so far it has been nothing short of a fantastic experience. As a recent graduate, my coworkers made me feel really comfortable asking any questions that I had about my new position, and did everything they could to make me feel welcome. It has a really nice, teamwork-oriented vibe; everyone works together to make sure that students have the best experience possible. They also really prioritize the wellbeing of their employees - they've been really flexible so far, and support a healthy work-life balance.  The workplace culture is productive while being laid-back enough that employees don't feel overwhelmed or stressed-out. Management actively listens to staff recommendations on things they can change/improve. The best part of the job is definitely getting the chance to help new students; I love working with them to help them meet their educational goals. I would definitely recommend First College to anyone looking for a fun, flexible, and rewarding place to work. :)

What is the best part of working at the company?
The other teachers only. Management was horrible and only focused on profit not education, cleanliness, or students.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of qualified management in key roles. Junior Therapist running the show. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic, lonely, isolated. Management is not professional nor supportive. Very combative with instructors. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Scamble to peep lectures that are not written well nor well planned. Unpaid time to book venues and presenters. Nit worth the $45 per hour.

 This outfit will flat out lie to their students  in order to fill the seats. Their recruiters are all comission based so it's in their best interest to tell potential students whatever they want to hear.
This results in faculty having to teach students who cannot afford to even finish the programs, the college will take all available government funding through programs such as ei and in some cases these poor students are hung out to dry. College collects their money yet doesn't follow through

The College moved from West Kelowna to Dt Kelowna this summer. There was a big turnover since lots of employees lived on west side. Not surprise that they left any negative comments, which is not true and professional; the college overall is in a great shape, the management is certainly organized and professional.

Working for this company was hideous.  You are not compensated for your prep work so you put in additional hours without pay.  The management are incompetent and unsupportive.   The most enjoyable part of the job was one colleague that I worked with.  We both stayed for less than 6 weeks and left around the same time.  This company is poorly run.  I would not recommend working for this company to anyone !



High turn over with all staff. Management is constantly changing the structure. They have no training you are expected to just fly by the seat of your pants. Employees are unhappy and very stressed out. They speak Chinese in the office making everyone feel very un comfortable. Management tells staff they are replaceable. They are not there for the students. You do not get paid for prep time.

First College is a new private college in downtown Kelowna offering health care occupation training.  They moved from West Kelowna and are now expanding with a Registered Massage Therapy Program.  The atmosphere at the school is positive and collaborative. We have team building activities like painting and enjoy each others company on a daily basis.

This college does not seem to care about students or employees. There is an expectation that employees will never question anything or ask for anything. They often seem to fire people on a whim. The staff turnover is huge. And there is also a lot of misogyny and judgement. Just not a good place to be. 

This company is ran by incompetent people. They think money is more important than quality education and creating/fostering relationships. They have little trust in employees and want to micromanage and blame others for mistakes. Not open or honest and will try to "buy" your love. The students and staff deserve better. 

My employment to date with first college ( almost 2 years ) has been both professional and supportive of myself and the students that attend here.

They provide a friendly enviroment  that makes it a pleasure to come to work and teach.
