Fit for Life

My regular duties at Fit For Life on a daily basis include all tasks such as: Preparing food and fulfilling customer transactions, restocking and cleaning all food areas and keeping a nice presentation, cooking and preparing food for later in the day or the next, cleaning the washroom and dishes regularly, and doing a nightly cash summary. I have developed strong skills in cash handling and perfecting customer service during my time employed. Management and peer coworkers at Fit For Life are great and accommodating, however it is the constant micro-managing and interference of the head office across the street that makes the establishment an overall unsatisfying work experience. Issues such as neglecting to hire and leaving the store understaffed, issues in biweekly payment, and dishonouring of employee availability are all common issues at this establishment. Working and becoming well acquainted with a small friendly group of people makes this job enjoyable hour to hour, but overall the workload for the amount of people employed and negligence towards these part time employees makes the job rather stressful and unsettling.

A typical day at Fit for Life is one where you meet new and interesting people. You encounter all kinds of challenges that enhance your way of thinking. The most enjoyable feature of Fit for Life is the act of balancing school and work. Fit for life allows for students to have a work like and still be able to pass their courses, in order to fulfill their future careers.

Received inventory, placed orders
Recorded and maintained the temperatures of hot and cold holding units.
Hardest part of the job was I had to make an estimation of how much inventory was to be ordered.

It was my first real job and I was able to develop skills to deal with and handle customers and build my confidence.
It was a good learning experience!

The company has been bought out, but we were family forward and client focused.  The hands on, people/face not number attitude is missed in this field now.  We were one of a kind.

I only made sandwiches, don't know about corporate jobs. It might be a great place to work but where I worked they tried to pay as little as possible; cutting time off shifts, cancelling days etc.

I have an attitude to interact with people and know them better. So for me it was a nice opportunity to work in a place where i can interact with my customers on daily basis.

Long hours, fast paced environment, and attention to quality product. Management takes care of employees, training by head office.
