Beware! this company is no good.

The job consists mostly of excessive, and at times redundant cleaning, you’re much better off finding a cleaning job that pays better, instead of scrubbing the grout in the floors every day.

Wages are stagnant, and if you do receive a raise at any point, expect your hours to be cut by at least 15%.
Hours are wildly inconsistent, schedules are often given out the day before the week of. 
You’ll work six days one week, the next you’re working two or three.
Locations are under-staffed, leaving no room to maintain a work life balance, if somebody is sick or unavailable, it puts tremendous strain on everyone else.

You are also expected to be very active in work groupchats outside of working hours, further reducing your ability to separate your personal and work life.

Every policy change imposes stricter, and stricter rules, with less margin for error. enforced by write-ups.

Any inventory or sales error is expected to come out of your pocket, and they will pressure you, often in front of customers, to do it. otherwise you receive write-ups.

Management makes decisions based off emotion and the gross amount of money you pull in. rarely anything else.
Management will decide seemingly on a dime decide they do not like you, and will alienate you from your co-workers through scheduling and cuts to hours. there seems to be no rhyme or reason to this, and can shift on a near weekly basis.
This creates large amounts of unnecessary stress on employees, as it feels you have to watch your back around management.

Management has transferred people to other stores, much farther from the area they live in. In their own words, ‘they were sent there to die’. 
Management actively sabotages their own employees, instead of taking proper administrative action, or empowering their employees to do better.

The communication between employer and employee is abysmal. If performance drops, there is no checking in on their part, instead you are pulled aside where they explain where you are lacking. Instead of doing anything productive, they point out all these problems, often with rude and unprofessional comments, then you are told to do better. With no roadmap on how to do so

Training is negligent, for the amount you have to learn in order to work effectively.
Starting at this job is confusing and stressful, I felt as though I was thrown to the wolves, and had to develop my own understanding of everything.
They proceeded to point out all the things i wasn’t doing (as nobody had ever trained me on them) and instead pawned the responsibility off onto other employees. A very common theme here.

Management will also make comments about the physical appearance of other co-workers to you, and do the same behind your back to others.

I have seen women hired based off their physical attributes, and have had this explicitly told to me by management. it results in people feeling like objects, and creates tension through everyone in the store.
and while this may be coincidental, there is a noticeable lack of people of colour in the company. 

there is zero privacy in the building, every square inch is recorded with both video, and audio. they used to hide how they recorded audio, but now they are required to tell you.
Private conversations are impossible in the building, and must be had outside. 

There is someone constantly watching the cameras in every store, and you will receive phone calls from management if you are not operating at 100% efficiency for your entire shift.
This is wildly unrealistic and exhausting given the work load you’re expected to take on every day.

They require you to open, and close the store unpaid, their reasoning is they pay for a 30 minute break, where you’re required to stay in the building, aside from leaving to get food.
Due to being understaffed, your break is consistently interrupted as it’s easy for a single person to be overwhelmed with customers. 

Customers are by far the most pleasant i’ve had at any customer service job before. The majority are very kind, talkative, and patient.
You see people from every walk of life, and they are all willing to share their stories and have engaging conversations.
It is by far the best aspect of this job, and the only reason I have continued to work here.
It is disheartening to have these experiences, only to turn around and have management hovering over your shoulder about your every sale, to work towards upselling and extracting more money from real, hardworking people who are viewed as nothing but wallets. 

Pressure from management often can break the relationships and trust you build with customers, which ends up driving sales away.

Overall, if you see an advertisement for a job, don’t stop on it, as it is far more trouble than it’s worth. If you enjoy working yourself to the bone, all to never see a penny more of the profits than they are legally required to give you, all while they talk poorly about you behind your back. Very friendly in the interview/orientation phase, but hard to take what they tell you in training at face-value. Management will reassure that the company is better run than other dispensaries, but in reality that amounts to just more micromanagement and busywork, including people-pleasing tasks like excessive cleaning and having to show up ten minutes before your shift and often close (unpaid). The scheduling is still done on a precarious basis and it’s often released very short notice. If you don’t like working nights, too bad. I felt a pressure to get on management’s good side here more so than any other retail store I worked at, making it hard to focus on the customers and gain product knowledge. 
Also, they will not tell you that the cameras record audio too. Best trying your luck elsewhere, considering the wage and what they expect of you.

The first red flag was that they advertised 15.50-16.50, they actually only pay minimum wage (15.30)
They also let us know that audio is recorded. Not really a big fan. I don’t say anything inappropriate but sometimes we have to make personal/business calls on our break and it’s inconvenient to have to go outside all the time to have a little bit of privacy during the 30 minutes of downtime we have in our day. 
The job is pretty easy itself but your day mainly consists of cleaning. You’d be better off being a cleaner making a better wage. The hours weren’t good from the start. 
The manager at my store was a complete pushover and was not good with communication. 
You also have to be there 10 minutes early and close the store which takes anywhere from 10-30 minutes after the end of your scheduled shift, both unpaid. They tell you because they give you a paid lunch that you have to stay. 
I’d definitely avoid this place!



Absolutely incredible place to work! I have never gone a day where I don’t have support from both coworkers and management, all the way up to the owners of the company! Incredible environment, both in store and in the team chats. Even the hardest days are better than some of the best days at other retail jobs.
There’s also so much to learn, and a huge group of people who will help you figure it out along the way. Plus, what I’ve learned has helped me find what products work best for myself, and I can help friends out with it, too.
Most of the customers are also phenomenal! You get regulars that are always so fun to talk to, or new customers who need the whole run down of product knowledge, or sometimes the cranky old men who you can’t help but enjoy talking to.
It’s the first time I’ve had a job that I can really see myself staying at for a long time to come.

I worked here for a while at a few locations as I was moved around a lot, I never called in to work, but was always reprimanded for showing up 8 minutes to my shift rather than the wanted 10-15 minutes. Their computer systems are really finicky and can cause cash errors which would then make you liable to pay for said issue. The owners are very uplifting and happy for the most part unless you do something they don't like, then they treat you like you're an absolute dog. Continuous shift changes meaning no routine which really messes with peoples sleeping patterns. They will have you close the store at 11 pm on a Friday, and have you open Saturday for 8 or 9 am the following day. They remind of me a cult, the culture is very tacky and pushy. do as I say not as I do type of mentality. 

Management is completely incompetent.
They only pay you minimum wage, and they’ll expect you to wave your 15 min breaks and 30 min lunches in order to make sure there’s enough help for customers. They tell you that you cannot leave the store on your 30 min breaks.
Helping customer isn’t the worst, until you have management listening to your sale, ready to pull you to the back for a “talk” where you get degraded like a child.
And when there’s no customers they are aggressively on you to stay busy by doing the endless cleaning task list, which includes some of the most pointless tasks I’ve ever seen.
You’ll be cleaning the same basic items that you cleaned yesterday and the day before and the day before. Stay away from this place, don’t trust management and their sneaky ways.

Flamingo has been an amazing experience, giving me the opportunity to grow and succeed in the cannabis industry!

I began as a part-time employee and was later given the chance to move into a full-time role. With steady hours and clear guidance from Management, I was able to grow with the company, and take on more responsibility.

Through consistent training and support at Flamingo, I’ve built the skills and confidence to help my team grow and succeed.

Not to mention how fun it is to interact with my community on a daily basis, making friends along the way!

I really like Flamingo and its culture. At first, everything feels difficult and unclear, but once you get into the flow and enjoy interacting with customers, coworkers, and managers, the job becomes easier. Honestly, when I first started, it was quite tough — everything was new, with different terms, and the workload wasn’t small. But as practice showed, you get used to it quickly, and there’s plenty of physical activity, so overall I’d rate it 10/10

Worked here for a while, many issues working with this company. There is very little privacy working with flamingo, there is audio on the cameras so if you need to talk in private there is no place to do so. There is a lot of pettiness and passive aggression from managements to employees. Your hard work may or may not be rewarded depending on your relationship with management which is completely unfair. Overall, i wouldn’t waste your time applying here. You can do much better.
