Not a good place to work with this company in JV/P3 environment. Top management sits in Toronto & have minimal control and knowledge about real issues in projects and due to which company has very little to say in decision making. Dragados employees leave running projects or getting terminated without getting properly investigated. Company failed to retain employees due to false or incorrect information fed by who knows. Company has soft corner for Spanish employees but not for others. Workplace culture is toxic and stressful in P3/JV environment. . It is politics / leg pulling / personal favoritism prevail in Dragados Canada projects. No respect for people, poor management, poor mannered, improper approaches towards issues plague this company.
Stay away from this company if you want to grow in positive sense.




Wages can't be beat so if you're in it just for the money it's a good gig. 

You will have no work life balance. You will work and work and work. 

Safety is a joke. You will be expected to operate in less than safe conditions regularly. You will be working with impaired workers regularly. Even when incidents happen and the operators are found impaired, management and safety turn a blind eye to keep "their best workers".

Management is a joke. The disorganization and waste is appalling. The equipment, which was mostly brand new at the beginning of the project is now falling apart. Operators are not held accountable for anything. It's a "run it til it breaks or dies" mindset. There is no communication between departments and most are more interested to back stab the next guy rather than concentrate on their own job at hand. 

But you will work hard and make a lot of money.

Our typical work day was 12 hours long sometimes more. I learned quite a bit about what is involved with road construction and how to operate various heavy equipment. The management was very helpful with supplying information as to what each task required to complete it successfully. Co-workers were very helpful and friendly and wanted to see me succeed at my job. The hardest part of my job was dealing with the frustration of rain days (not something anyone can do about the weather). The most enjoyable part of my job was learning and operating heavy equipment. I enjoyed driving a rock truck the most.

Don't waste your time, you'll be treated poorly and threatened with you'll be replaced no problem

Toxic , belittling, brainrot, 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Listening to supervision argue on how things should be done and no clear answer is made, often have to redo work due to being told from one that its great , and the other that has OCD, not so good and have to re and re constantly

Flatiron has great benefits however the company working culture is not what is claimed.  Expectations are to work longer hours, work overload, and a lack of support for individuals.  The new HR department does not help.  In the past 5 - 6 years the culture changed with the new Head Office.  The people you work with on a project team or office are great, it is upper management that have a lack of respect for those working for them.
Bonus and wage are based not on your annual rating but by what category you are in so if you do extra work, etc. it is not recognized in the bonus or annual raises now.

Dragados Got a unique type Project Safety Manager. That was for the Ottawa CSST Project. This man really helped the company to build a good safety culture and give us a good support and kept our coaching and learning process in high level by sharing his Experience and by giving us the chance to speak up and to input out ideas.

In ten years working in the construction industry I have never encountered a company so completely inept at what they do while at the same time being entirely oblivious to the lack of quality in their product and the dangers which they place their employees on a daily basis. 

The management team at Flatiron is inexperienced and disorganized. If you have every driven down the henday then you have seen the results of their mismanagement first hand. Materials and equipment are strewn about at random, wasted and left to fall into disrepair. 

If you are a clown, this is the place for you  because this company is a joke.

-Occasionally "forget" to pay salary, either in part or in full (always watch your pay stubs for anything between a missing $10 to $600)
-Will change scheduled without notice, sometimes multiple times in a week, especially around holidays 
-Difficult to contact any form of upper management (multiple calls and/or emails)
-A general lack of communication between departments, and even inside departments (night shift and day shift rarely knew what each other were doing)

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Flatiron. Unfortunately, with no more jobs in Alberta, I had to leave. I have never been more upset to leave a job. Management is great so long as you be yourself and you are honest. Some of the staff from partner companies were very difficult, and the fact that they are not employed by Flatiron makes reporting any incidents difficult. 

You have a lot of opportunities to progress at Flatiron so long as there are jobs or you are willing to relocate. I learnt a lot from my time there.

Worked for them for a year straight on the Henday before I quit. Production comes before safety, you're your own safety here. Seen multiple workers suffering from frost bite and being told they can't stop working. Most rigging conditions was substandard, training of newly signed crane apprentices was dangerous and non existent. RTs owned by flatiron were in terrible condition, including broken floats, dangerous cable conditions, no crane and hoist safe working procedures shared with crews.
