I started this position with high hopes. After being told a different salary than what I actually made, I quickly realized that you are not treated fairly at that establishment. The lack of communication within departments leaves security with little protection or direction on what can and cannot happen. 

Security is essentially viewed as a joke and no one can provide a clear answer on any of the expectations. They state there is availability to advance if you have the credentials/education/experience. However, that is definitely not the case. They are severely understaffed. I prided myself on never calling in sick. However, after starting and working in such a tension-filled environment, ridiculous hours, and nowhere near enough pay - I was sick more times in 4 months than I had been ever. 

I’ve worked at many colleges, and this is the worst. It isn’t even security staff that’s the problem - it’s the PRD managers. 

The fellow staff you work with are great but middle and upper management are over paid, under achievers. There seems to be a manager for every supervisor and a director for every other manger. Some mangers don’t even have staff under them. Getting a definitive answer from higher ups is next to impossible because there is no communication between them and even if you do get an answer it tends to change, making work and projects difficult. There are too many captains trying to steer a ship they don’t even notice it’s sinking. 

I enjoyed the day-to-day aspects of my job but had little to no support from management. Perhaps it varies by department but my manager was not available most of the time to deal with things that should have been their jurisdiction. There was also an astounding lack of communication by HR when it came to anything. From training & orientation, to payroll, to contracts, HR was extremely difficult and uncommunicative. The combination of this and the lack of competent management made it a frustrating experience in the year that I was employed with Fleming.

While technically, I still work there, I haven't been called back in years. Most of the courses that I teach have gone online through OntarioLearn and the pay rates vary a lot for them.

While I taught my courses in introductory computers, Excel, Hardware Fundamentals and Linux, I learned how to do with a few difficult students and to adapt my course to their needs. Flexibility is a large part of this job, especially when teaching adults. Planning engaging activities is important, too. It was challenging at times, especially course development but it was fun to be in the classroom.

I enjoyed my time at Fleming College - working specifically in the HR department. 
The best day was our department "pot-luck" where we would bring in food and have a shared lunch/snacks throughout the day. 
The most difficult day is taking on additional tasks when your plate is full. However, this is something you can expect in any job. 
The staff is supportive and you should feel comfortable to have conversations with them. 
My experience was short due to the type of position I was working, however, I believe I gained a fair amount of insight into the company. 

I liked teaching.  It was challenging to think through assessment issues with students.  Also like sharing massage techniques. The students were great.  
  The college reduced the hourly rate to just over $20.00 which began at $42.00,  They did that by changing the job title/classification.  According to the college supervising was not teaching.  That was disappointing as I think the students were learning a lot from me and other employees teaching in clinics.  It was not financially viable to work for Fleming.

Excellent hands on experience with GIS technology.
In a typical day I monitor and maintain all data computer equipment and do analysis on the data using MS Excel graphing and ESRI GIS software. In the Observatory I research and collect data for solar radiation, gravity, and cosmic activity. Oral and document reports are given to the group leader weekly. Tours and education of students and interested visitors were given on current Observatory research on a regular basis.

As a first aid responder I'd have to get up early in the morning, check my gear, then wait in the first aid room for a call to come in and I would respond to it and that's when it would get stressful. I learned alot of different medical procedures. The management was fine and kept our gear in good condition. The hardest part about the job was the time spent on calls I would often miss classes as I was a student at the time. The most enjoyable part of the job however was the satisfaction of helping another person.

THIS WAS MY FIRST DAY AT THE COLLEGE AND WAS PLEASED TO  SEE THE STUDENTS FROM VARIOUS COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD AND THE LUSH GREEN CAMPUS OF THE COLLEGE.THE ORIENTATION WAS ONE THE BEST I HAVE EXPERIENCED.THE FUNCTION WAS VERY EFFICIENTLY MANAGED BY THE FACULTIES,THE SENIOR STUDENTS AND HELPED ME TO KNOW ABOUT THE PLACES AROUND SUITABLE FOR ACCOMODATION,PLACES FOR BUYING GROCERIES,THE EATING AREAS AND LOTS MORE.THEY WERE VRY FRIENDLY AND FELT AT HOME

Celebrating post secondary education in a healthy supporting environment. Great collaborative spirit, dynamic teams.  Great vision and desire to be progressive, imaginative and innovative.  Faculty & support staff are approachable and willing to cooperate on special projects to meet objectives and deadlines. Very rewarding.
