My experience working with Flyer has been above average of any electrical company I’ve worked for. If you are a team player, try to stand out and show that you are willinf to stick it out through tough times and pull a little more than your weight, they will treat you well…like any good working relationship. As for long-term work, don’t be surprised if you are hired for a massive job and are sent home at the end…as it is the nature of the industry both commercial and industrial, especially if you have an attitude of entitlement or do the bare minimum. If you stand out, you will be noticed. 

From on site all the way up to the top at head office are terrible at managing site goals and projects as well as trying to improve employee morale. The company does not respect its employees and offers no real incentive to stay on with them. They treat you like a throw away employee, good guys are there until the next project with a new company starts up and “they gone”. Flyer Electric is a joke of a company. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Good group of people to work with right from ownership to persons on the job.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working yourself out of a job! although that never happened while I was employed there. They were quite successful in bidding and had work on a continual basis.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment was positive and it was all hands on deck to execute jobs successfully

What is the best part of working at the company?
None… Garbage Company, Poorly Managed, not much more you can say. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They will lay you off or fire you for no just cause… make sure you take your tools home with you each turn around just in case. They will keep drinking buddies over highly productive efficient workers. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful, no competency, no direction, no clue of what’s going on.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Awkwardness, and disappointment.

They promise the world to employees but after you are hired you will never get what they promise. The supervisors have no idea how to run jobs and end up making a mess of every job. They will tell you that you have a job for a long period of time but in reality they have only short term work and continually lay off people.
They are on shaky ground and will be lucky to stay in business , look elsewhere and steer clear of this place. The people they have remaining are some of the worst electricians I have seen, bad work quality and low morale and motivation.

This company should not be allowed on industrial sites, they are going to seriously hurt someone. They hire inexperienced, young people and push them hard to do unsafe acts. They are cheap, lack in planning, organization, and material. Management will push to make deadlines even after failing to order crucial material for the task. A toxic, “company man” work culture, employees are too scared to speak up for themselves and will bully employees that do not fit the “Flyer” mold.

I highly recommend joining the team at Flyer Electric if you are wanting to pursue a career in the electrical industry. There are many different parts of the company to learn and grow from our industrial mine sites in remote locations to our commercial construction around Saskatoon and Regina and many other sites throughout the province.

Good wages and benefits, work life balance is lacking.  Job locations were primarily remote camp jobs. If you were in management and proved yourself, your job outlook was secure. Project employees were hired for projects and let go upon project completion, standard construction practice. Overall a good group of people to work for including the ownership.

I have nothing but great things to say about Flyer Electric. The Company really cares for their employees and always works on improving the way they do things. Employees are not treated as just another number in the company but part of the team in the contribution and success of Flyer. Being in the trades and construction is an industry where there are a lot of unknowns at times but that's just the nature of the industry.  

Owner is very good. Some of the people he puts in charge of large projects should not be there. Incompetent in their role and hire and layoff based on whether they like you. Regardless of performance. Don't reveal personal information to supervisors. Smaller company and nothing is confidential.
