Food Basic

Each day brings new friends. Helping people is one of my strengths. I enjoy meeting and pleasing people. I have learned how the produce department works, being in the department for 2 years. How the scanning department works with applying new tags for sales and making tags for shelf products. I have managed the front end tills head cashier. I have balance tills, train new recruit's. Customer service refunds and returns. Work on tills I am fast and efficient. Keeping the customer in mind of there well earned and well spent money. I have stocked shelves with product with rotation in mind. My managers are great. Managers think highly of me as I am a hard worker with a happy personality. Co-Workers are all great, we are like a big family. I seem to be all the younger girls "mom".

Good salary and benefits. However poor communication and work environment with store management at that time towards employees. Went in at 6:30 am and balanced day before. Opened store and managed front end. Also did payroll and invoicing. I missed being out front as much because my other duties filled up most of my day. I enjoy interacting with customers and employees. Also invoicing and counting of tills was enjoyable.

Easy to learn codes, nice to get along with different kind of people everyday, this is where you can test your patients dealing with different kind of issues, language barrier. But because I love to help, I love to give them the assistance that they needed. I love to work probably that is why I can easily adapt whatever is the issue is coming all the way. Everyday is a different experience which is I love coz that is how I learn new thing, additional knowledge. I love challenges.

It was my first real job. I was 15 when I started working, I was working with a lot of students my age so it was a fun environment. Management was fun and accommodating with time off and requests. I loved working long hours to get in the groove of things. I learned organization with paperwork and personal skills with customers. I worked in the office as well so I was able to interact with a lot of customers and deal with their problems.

Working as a clerk at food basic, working at such a time-oriented position developed my time management skills. 
During work as soon as I walked into the store I would look around and see what need to be done and then plan in my head how to stock the products. 
As a result of that, I am very efficient in performing the tasks and I was put into the leadership role and leading many other co-workers to work more efficiently.

For it being the first place I ever worked at it definitely requires you to be swift and knowledgeable of where everything is located. There are very kind workers there that will assist you whenever you need it. Very good management as well. The hardest part would be completing task as fast as they want you to. I found gathering the shopping  carts to be the most enjoyable part of the job.

It’s a not bad place to work for they need to in prove on there pension it’s very bad for it’s very bad for employees that has worked their for 10/20 years of employment and when they retire they still have to keep working because there is not enough money for them to live on that’s not right whether there’s a union or not the company should take initiative and set up a better pension pplanseEmployeesemployees

A typical day at work starts with many people lining up to be cashed out. As a cashier, you must be willing to work in a fast pace environment under stress because sometimes customers are rushing you.

Management was really flexible and co-workers were very friendly.
The most enjoyable part of my day is seeing people happy and content with their purchase and our services.

I had a good overall experience working at Food Basics. Coworkers were very friendly, supportive, and always willing to help each other out. The job itself was fairly straightforward and helped me build customer service skills. At times, the workplace could feel a bit strict, with close attention to rules and procedures, but it did help keep everything organized and running smoothly.

This was genuinely one of my favourite jobs I have had. I enjoyed the variety of people you meet everyday. I enjoyed the mix of having days that are very similar but not completely predictable. The people I worked with were kind. I enjoyed the problem solving that was required. The hours were a bit hard when you want to work but they only give 4 hour shifts
