I only worked as a Deli Clerk at Foodland, Iroquois Falls, for less than a year, about 6 years ago. The duties required for this job would be satisfactory for most who enjoy working in the food industry, but the management at the time of my employment was less than satisfactory for me and many other employees. This department's turnover was crazy when I was there, as the manager was habitually unpleasant, lacking compassion and understanding. As their employees, we were mostly met with harsh and/or unpleasant conversations. If the management has changed, I would recommend trying it out!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Friendly atmosphere. The staff members were very helpful in the training process and it was nice to see the same customers week after week.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I did not find it stressful to work at this company.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture was like one big family of people working together to provide for the customer base.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day would have both slow periods and rush periods at the cash register.

The customers were my favourite. I loved working on cashier.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When there wasn’t enough employees working when it was our busiest times. Which would be after 4:30pm

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Too much gossip. Everyone needs to understand we’re here to work and not make friends which leads to gossip 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Walk in say good morning to my managers and boss. Start my day I would clean my cash counter and begin my day.

Working here I've essentially become an unpaid administrative assistant for the entire store with the compensation being too many hours.

I work for free some hours if underperformed for any reason, including personal issues . I've trained other department managers yet no Manager title for myself, wage is slim for growth ($2.00) roughly above minimum max unless they're really hard up to keep you and you're the type of person to use that to your advantage, I am not. 

I work a 2nd job with a janitorial company which covers this store, I'm frequently told to do things during that job for the store by my boss.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Workplace conditions and interaction with the public !

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Don’t want to answer this question!  Although situation has changed since I left !

Fair sorry I don’t want to expand on my answer respectfully!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Unfortunately I am no longer employed there !

I learned cashier duties, how to front the grocery shelves. I kept cash register areas clean, swept and mopped floors, cleaned windows, and fixed signs for upcoming weekly promotions. My co-workers and supervising staff, were wonderful to work beside. The management was always away and very seldom available for important staff or customer issues. The most enjoyable part of this job was meeting and serving the customers.

going home at the end of the night

having the managers breathing down your neck because they take their job to serious

they mostly take advantage of highschool students

lots of looking busy and being bored

I learned how to work a cash register and scanner. I also was responsible for counting my own cash register drawer. I also was responsible for cleaning around the cash register and sweeping and mopping floors and windows. At this store, I loved meeting and serving the people that came in.

Great owners, most everyone there is very friendly.  Department manager was OCD and claiming the department was always behind, which we were not.  Very stressful and not a fun or positive department to be in.

Grocery department is a very straight forward experience; grocery orders arrive, inventory is done, and said products get taken out to the shelves. More occasional duties include customer service (assisting customers finding items, checking stock, taking rain checks, etc) and assisting with receiving orders.
