Working at Foothills Group has been one of the best experiences of my career. From day one, I felt like I was part of a team that truly cares about doing things the right way. The company has strong values and teaches ethical business practices, which has really helped shape how I see this industry (and I have been in many!).

I’ve learned so much about mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and proper techniques — not just how to do the job, but how to do it right. The training and support I received from both coworkers and management helped me grow in confidence and skill. There’s always something new to learn, and the company encourages that growth every step of the way.

The workplace culture is amazing...  it’s a fun palce to work, but also very professional. Management is highly structured, clear in their communication, and always willing to guide you without micromanaging. 

Foothills Group is more than just a job it’s a place to build a career. I’ve grown so much personally and professionally during my time here, and I’m proud to be part of a company that values education, honesty, and teamwork.

Highly recommend to anyone looking to learn, grow, and be part of a great team. I never woulda left if I didn't have to relocate.

A typical day starts early with a cup of coffee while getting changed into your gear. There’s usually a chance to chat with your coworkers about the day ahead and share any struggles or solutions from previous jobs — a nice team atmosphere where communication is encouraged.

Workdays are full and steady, with a strong flow of jobs throughout the day. Overtime is often available if you want it, but not required. Management is respectful of your time and pretty hands-off if you're performing well — it’s a high-trust environment where you’re treated like a professional.

One of the highlights is staff lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays — always appreciated and brings the team together. Alongside your lunch, you also get a paid break during the day which really helps break things up and reset when it's busy.

What stands out the most is the room to grow. Whether you're just starting out or have been in the trade a while, there are clear opportunities to take on more responsibility, increase your skills, and move up if you want to.

Overall, it's a solid place to work if you're motivated, work well in a team, and want to be in a shop that actually supports your career.

A typical day is fast-paced and requires strong organization and communication between customers, technicians, and parts. The role has helped me develop efficiency, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Management is supportive and focused on keeping workflow moving, which creates a productive environment. The workplace culture is team-oriented, and everyone works together to get jobs completed and customers taken care of.

The hardest part of the job can be balancing workload during busy periods and managing expectations when delays happen. The most enjoyable part is seeing jobs completed efficiently, helping customers, and working with a team that supports each other.

Extremely high stress and turnover rates, with people often being fired suddenly and in large numbers. Performance reviews are nonexistent, and high performers are pushed to their breaking point without adequate support. There is zero accountability at all levels of the organization. Leadership seems to care very little about their employees, despite efforts to make it appear otherwise. They seem more concerned with public perception than with genuine effectiveness.
While there are occasional signs of progress, the company repeatedly falls back into old, unproductive patterns. The lack of structure, accountability, and leadership makes it a challenging environment for building a long-term career. 
However, there are many talented and dedicated individuals working for the company. Hopefully they can address these issues before that dynamic changes. 

This company provides services and repair for truck, car and equipment fleets. They are a lean managed company with leadership that still helps on the floor when needed. They take company culture and customer service and value seriously and make decisions that support these priorities. This is definitely an independent repair shop as there is NOT the overhead bureaucracy of a dealership. If you work hard and contribute to the team you are noticed and encouraged. They have a company campout that is well attended every year and they feed everyone twice a week, they know how to work hard but they have a relaxed work environment where people are encouraged to enjoy their work. 

I have never found a company before that actually cares about my goals like these guys do. Not only do they work with me on setting my business goals (And provide me the freedom and support to accomplish them), but they also care about my PERSONAL GOALS. They literally meet with me regulary to check in on my personal goals and business goals. Never have I been anywhere like this. I will probably work here for the rest of my life to be honest, with the experience I am having. The culture and the team is good. Sometimes they let go of people if they are not a good fit, but that is a good thing.

They constantly fire people when things aren't going there way they act on emotion like a 5 year old girl would act as a management team

I worked at the mine the crew I worked with was amazing great bunch of guys good environment  to work but none of them are there any longer ha 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Were mechanics we fix and diagnose broken equipment this is a redundant question

i worked here for 4 years and truly enjoyed it. i left because I moved to edmonton. 

great team of people, great culture, free lunches were awesome.

the group of people is what made it great and when there was a "bad apple" they werent afraid to get rid of them. i saw some bad reviews on indeed and think those were some of those "bad apples" that they got rid of. i had to write a good review when i saw those bad ones because those are not an accurate representation of the atmosphere at this place. it is the best shop i have worked at in calgary. i have worked at 5.  

I have been with Foothills Group for 14 months. The experience has been great and its amazing to still be able to continue to learn. 
Its amazing to be part of a growing business and to watch the energy Foothills Group brings to the Heavy Duty and Automotive repair industry.

I work in the mines in Sparwood for them. We have an awesome team, and an awesome culture. We have gotten some new shifts and brought on some new guys and they guys they have brought on so far have been awesome to work with. There is this technician assessment that they and some mechanics don't pass it, so they are kind of hard to get into to work for them. Once you are in though, good place to be, lots to learn, and they treat you good.
