Never a dull moment with this job!  This inpatient/outpatient based services is fast paced and diverse.  Working with three doctors, four nurses and whatever residents/clerks that come through on their rotations, I need to maintain charts, stats, transcriptions, intake new referrals to book outpatients and deal with consults for patients on the units.  Other duties include ordering supplies, doing payroll, faxing, photocopying, scanning, covering two phone lines, one on one interaction with outpatients coming for appointments and archiving old files.   Working in this role I have had the opportunity to work on my own to create new more effective and efficient ways to make the service run better.   It is very satisfying to be acknowledged from the team I work with of my accomplishments for the service.
Working with this team of professionals for the past almost 18 years has been very rewarding and fun.

Love people and the job giving services for patients appreciate all the jobs that we are all doing

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
During flue and influenza season it becomes more stressful dealing with all kinds of cases too

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Busy place but very nice time will when the proper procedures done and cured patients

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My typical days Monday to Friday all evening shifts Saturday and Sunday off

My typical day would be to make others happy,  The most enjoyable part of my job would be to see a smile on that face of the person I am helping. Whatever job you are working at, your never stop learning. The hardest part of the job would be if I had inadvertently offended someone or my work had not come up to standard, management do have a difficult job with their job criteria, but they also must remember, others are learning too and to keep an active eye where more help is required.

looking after the elderly takes a special kinda person and I just did not have the heart to see the elderly like that every day my heart was breaking to see how the children of the elderly just leave them in the home and come see them when they have the time, there is a great amount of lack of respect the young youth have these days for the elderly,

The management can do whatever they want, and are not required to support staff, and they are not accountable for any of their actions to anyone, Poor.


I only did a practicum there but while I was there I learned a lot of things. The staff were amazing. The patients I met were good. I learned quite a bit but it was a good experience for me. Management was awesome and welcoming. The hardest part of the day it having to do a code or a discharge. The most enjoyable part of the job is the company you get from the patients and co workers.

I start by finding out my station for the day. Foothills is responsible for over a 1000 patients at one given time and we make all the trays to order and deliver them to the patients. Then comes the clean up after we have to clean all dishes and trays and the dish room as well.

Great co-workers and management team.  Focus on personal goals and completing tasks.  Work as a team in order to keep hospital running at a smooth pace.  Hardest part of the day is lots of walking, best part of the day is sitting down once all the jobs are currently completed.

Always busy but its a worth to know the patient and family. I've been working there for more than 16 years stable job. I got a chance to work with a great team, Working from a medical unit to medicine unit and ortho, gyne colo every floor is totally different but where ever you go always same job.As long you know how to work it is east.

The company is alberta health services i remember I started in 2014 December 1at peter lougheed center as  a temporary. 5 employee  for a year  after i finished  that line  i went  to casual ,  then, when FMC transitional  unit  posted  the  temporary line again i applied  and  i got it. Currently  i work at Fmc.
