Quit after becoming fulltime. Realized I didn't want to waste my life any further sometime after they forced me to start showing up at 5AM when I'd only agreed to the shift starting at 12:30PM. Management really does not care about you.

Bad:
TPTs are super expendable and made to do the hard work while fulltimers stand around gossiping... but they'll never get fired for it because the place runs on nepotism. Unless you got referred by someone who already works there, your job is not safe. (I know this because I was referred for the position, and I saw all the other TPTs who hadn't been referred get fired en masse one day, while I alone got to stay.) Bosses mostly look down on those working under them. The pressure to hit daily quotas can be harsh if you're not used to it. Another thing to mention is that some coworkers here make the job a lot harder than it should be. If you're sensitive to sexism or racism, avoid warehouses... those are essentially a given part of the work environment. High likelihood of being physically injured by the repetitive nature of most of the jobs if you do them for any notable length of time. Oh, and as for work/life balance, not very good... since I was usually on the closing shift, overtime happened virtually every day... it's "optional" overtime but people will get upset if you routinely don't stay to help with it. Annoyingly, on some weeks the supervisor would give me only one shift for the whole week, and as a TPT there wasn't any way to know how many shifts I'd be given for the upcoming workweek until the weekend beforehand.

Good:
I did have some good experiences here too, though any good things were mostly the result of interacting with the few nice coworkers who shared my shifts. One positive to working here is that the pay is high for those without a highschool diploma (~$21/hr). Plus, if you have facial tattoos or that sort of thing, they don't mind. I liked being able to let my managers know my availability two weeks in advance while I was a TPT as that provided me a bit of freedom. Got paid biweekly. Also of note is that Ford is unionized.

Just wouldn't recommend it as a long-term job, is all. If you need to do it because you simply need an income source, I understand, but there's so much better out there, and you deserve respect. Best case scenario is to work for them only as long as you need their paycheque and then to move on to better things.

I worked as a  Manufacturing Advisor in a fast paced work environment in, a position that had both aspects of  engineering and supervision responsibilities. . I was responsible for a engine production line , which produced 6 , 8 nd 10 cylinder engines for FORDS . In my capacity I was responsible for the section of parts assembled in my line and the quality control of the installation of those parts and liaison with different parts distributers , I was also charged with  the expedient delivery of these production engines ready for market .to achieve production quota expectations from FORDS 

 I also directly supervised the employees in my area of responsibility including providing their training , payrole and if need be discipline
I ensured  that they performed their duties competently and safely . *Of note I worked at FORD motor company while on a approved leave of absence from the Correctional Services of Canada . I took this leave to assist in the care of my mother who had a heart attack in the city where the FORD company was established .

 I learned a great deal working at FORDs about supervision and manufacturing , I achieved my "Green Belt" a performance assessment .and in truth  I may have continued working there had FORD's not gone through a white collar purge  after the collaps of the auto industry at the time , (lucky for me unlike some of my peers I had the CSC to fall back on when the downsizing came and the layoffs began)

Harassed if you miss any days and even if you have a doctor's note HR hassles you. I got an umbilical hernia from working there and was told that it wasn't due to activities at Ford so was denied WSIB claim. When you are working constantly and there 10 hrs Mon-Thurs + 8hrs Friday and mandatory Saturdays, not sure how else this would happen, in my sleep?   I also have torn muscle and ligament  in my elbow and trigger finger from repetitive working conditions (I worked there for 3 years). 3 years later after quitting, my elbow still gives me problems. 
 Hospital emerg visit for debris in the eye that turned into a circus side show of humiliation when returned to work. 6 Supervisors (plant supervisor, 2 man power supervisors, my own line supervisor, plus 2 more) came to this station, was forced to dress in painters coveralls, safety glasses under goggles, and a dust mask, rubber gloves under normal work gloves in the middle of summer. Trouble even picking up a screw to install and trouble seeing because the goggles were fogging up. Supervisors stood over and every time line went down, was threatened with firing. Union person was nowhere to be found for an hour and was evident he is in Ford pocket

In my capacity as a disability coordinator at Ford Motor Company, I had to ensure that early and safe return to work policies were being followed, implement and kept up with current disability trends. We had to keep track of cost claims and developed short term and long goals to reduce the overall financial cost of disability at Ford of Canada. In addition to short term case management, I also managed the long term complex cases. I would work with all stakeholders to over come many barriers that would be preventing return to work. It is important to note that we worked within the collective agreements and human rights legislation. I activity worked with the union to help ensure that long term solutions were met. I have extensive knowledge of WSIB and communicated on daily basis with case managers to move claims forward. I have worked with Work Transition Specialist and Return to Work Specialist. Additionally, I attend weekly ergonomic meets to bring up issues that have been identified on floor. And daily safety meeting to go over injuries, department safety walks, accident investigations or other safety issues.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is nothing good about working at Ford!  Trades is under paid. The benefits are ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Been there 5 yrs i accumulated 34,000 in retirement!!
  I went to the ibew and ive put in $9000 in 2 months towards my pension 
  The people there are very toxic, they act like your friend the rat on you make you look bad for a better job or to put you down and make fun of what ever disability you have!
  HR is terrible,  how the operation runs….. bahahahahahahaa.  I can’t believe they still make a motor. They have unqualified kids as supervision.  Leaving there was the best thing ive ever done

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The people,  tracking your hours  your over time tracking everyone else's hours because the supervision doesn’t at all. But leave early. They are on that !  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
TERRIBLE like going to grade school! 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sit and wait for a machine to go down and stay away from people and there drama

I had 31 tremendous years with Ford Motor Company. During the depressed economy years, the management with over 25 years seniority were given buyouts and we accepted them.
It was a day of enthusiasm and accomplishment with occasional absentee hurdles. Incentives did help reduce absenteeism.
The safety and quality was paramount to be followed only by productivity and timely deliver of production.
The management in most cases was knowledgeable, helpful and dedicated.
My peers got along very well. No major issues.
The Union are very strong in Canada and sometimes Unions had to take stand with the worst employees. This was very challenging but amicable solutions were attained.
FMC rewarded well at the "Job Well Done" in the form of bonuses and even the Golden Hand Shake at the buyout time.
I would like to contribute my knowledge and experience to any company that has been in business for a while.

The job is not worth the hassle. The supervisors are terrible and do not want to teach anybody anything. When they do decide to teach you you have to know everything in 30 minutes or if not they shut the line and write you up and up to HR. Supervisors will ask you to do a dangerous job and if you don’t they are down you neck knowing it life or limb. They rather see people risk there lives to do a job than do it right and safe. Another thing is that you think that the union would stick up for you there but it’s not like that. They are terrible at handle anything that makes them getting up and doing there jobs. They like to do the easy way. They rather get you fired than to save your job so they don’t have to protect your rights as a team member. They are nothing but of lazy people and jokers and all they do is drink coffee and chatting it up with friends than doing there jobs.

A very fast paced enviroment. Extremely time conscious procedures and timelines.
Data entry on several differnt computer programs..Pinnacle, Cash Handling System, Recovery Management System (RMS) Mobius.

Great members on the teams. Moved to differnt departments in order to have a rounded view of the company.

Really enjoying working in the Accounts payable department..preparing cheques, handling the reject and Out of Balance reports. missapplied or Misallocated funds on numerous accounts.

Hardest part of the job is the stress due to time restraints.

As a corporation based on US salaries etc not allot of help from managemnet to improve working conditions.

I have learned so much and have gained allot of personnal pride and accomplishment knowing that I can learn new things and acheive great success.

I love learning. Knowledge is Power!!!!

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people you meet,work with and work for. You won't like or get along with everyone and when that happened with me I chose not to work too close to that person or asked my supervisor to move either that person or I to a different area 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Trying to finish on time when supervisors take workers from your area to fill holes and then it's expected that we still hit shipping times

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I worked there more than 24 years. There are clicks and favoritism but overall 99% of the people are respectful,helpful and social

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I worked in many different plants also assembling vehicles and the parts depot. I always like the jobs the kept me busy and physical. I would walk almost 12 miles a shift. I was fairly busy throughout my shift with not too much idle time

I worked 30 years at Ford quick note they now make you do along Test to be considered for employment . Most do not get hired
They paid us really well and benefits were amazing. Then restructuring .benefits were drastically cut Wage freezes went in place , cost of living the the geographical area went to a point where it is unaffordable  to rent or buy unless you are willing to travel over an hour . 
 And you never know how many hours your going to be working day to day sometimes some days 10 and anything in between on a whim. Then add shift work
  Give you no chance to have a normal balance between work and family  life . Work 10 hours spend at least 3 hours in traffic either way  when you figure 8 hours of sleep . The math leaves you with 3-4 hours to do all your chores and spend time with your family 
  I chose to leave as i did not want to be another  statistic of divorce .
