Forest City Castings

This place used to be a FANTASTIC place to work. I was there for 2 years and learned tons of stuff in the time that I was there and met lots of great, helpful people. even the management was really good. unfortunately they hired a new floor manager to help organize everything. this guy was pretty good when he first came to FCC. However as he became more comfortable and started to get to know everybody. he started to also pick and choose who he liked and didn't. and for some reason this manager just had a problem with younger people. he would be the nicest guy ever around the plant owners and older employees. but he treated us young guys like dirt and lied about things he said all the time. one Monday he pulled myself and 2 others into the office and told us we were laid off due to "shortage of work", even though they were begging people to come in for optional overtime and getting mad at people who didn't come, and threatened to make overtime mandatory. we were walked out of the plant and treated like we were fired. the company doesn't care about their employees like they used to. all they are focused on now is money and deadlines. the family environment died.

The owners are great people to talk too, that being said the production department is run by a paranoid narcissist. Who will be so worried your talking about him or plotting against him (even thou he's the manager lol) he will go around and bully his staff. I found most of the supervisors secretly hated the guy but were also worried about losing their position because they have family's. So they did what he asked while also Informing you how stupid it was. Which you can understand. Still there's lots of good employees at this company

I actually loved working there.. the pay was really good, the management team was great, the only issue I had with forest city castings was the safety in that place.. u have to be able to handle heat .. almost had a heat stroke about 5 times when I worked there.  But safety is the only problem there other than that 10/10

A typical day at work was always good there wasn't any hard job there at all they were all pretty easy to do the most enjoyable part of the job was going there and being on different CNC machines 

FCC has great opportunities for anyone looking to build on previous mechanical experiences.  Working as a millwright for the company gave me a lot of variety in my days which I love.  You could be machining, performing repairs on cnc machines and foundry equipment.  The job felt organized and the people I worked with there were all great. 

Small company with limited resources trying to operate like a large corporation.  Inexperienced management that does not provide the required resources.  Projects are looked at numerous times and passed over due to lack of capital.

Everyone is part of a big team at FCC. The company was well organized and determined for sucess. Working together is crucial in this environment because everything happens so fast that things can easily go wrong without proper communication.

hourly parts per hour were way over what could have been achieved. Had to get them adjusted a lot of the time. Supervisors are great to work with, they take time to make sure you understand on what you have too due for the day.

Original ownership and leadership was OK.  Exceptional knowledge and skills of products and processes.

Ownership changes, growth, and loss of key managers was the downside.  Wrong people steering the ship into the abyss.  No communication, no loyalty, zero direction.

If you work hard here they take advantage of you by giving you extra work but they wont give you the extra money, you can be doing 3 times the amount of work then the guy next to you but still be getting paid the same anount or even less in some cases.
