Pros:

There is work-life balance in some ways because the management does not keep track of their employees very well. There are some veterans in the company who hardly spend 50% of their time doing anything valuable; in fact quite often they are not on project and not even in the office but they are still paid high salaries and no one dare question them. People are free to make mistakes and even new employees make mistakes and they do not let them go.

Cons:

1) If you are a young, ambitious, eager to learn person I would suggest avoid this company at all costs. Here are some reasons why: 
  a) There is no proper onboarding process for new employees. New people just have to learn on their own without any guidance from management or other employees. There is no proper documentation on processes, systems etc.
  b) The caliber of people in the company is very low. Even the senior managers have very little awareness about managing people and processes. Most people have lot of insurance knowledge and nothing more than that.
  c) Management has not kept itself upto date on the industry changes and hence operate as if it is still the 1980s. The maturity level in the company is very low.
  d) Old timers tend to form a cabal of sorts and generally keep a new employee out of it. They also do not like it if a new employee proves them wrong or does better at work than them. So essentially new employee has to give-in to the old timers even if they are very wrong. New employees actually suffer if they prove the old-timers and/or the management wrong however diplomatically it is done.
 e) Most projects and work is  very in-efficiently done and takes at least 50% more time and resources to get done as compared with other companies.

So essentially, the growth for the new employee is only in terms of insurance knowledge and it is entirely upto them to learn it. The old timers and management is so scatter-brained and behind times that it will feel claustrophobic. It will be like the fable of a frogs in a small pond. Even if a new frog comes to the pond and explains new techniques etc. the old frogs will never understand because they cannot understand something they have never seen. It can be very frustrating to get any work done.

Where to start? They say you have “unlimited sick days”, but when you take TOO MANY sick days ( they think excessive sick days is calling in sick 4 times during a 6 month period or calling in sick 5 consecutive days) all of a sudden it becomes a problem and they try to bully you to provide proof. The senior agents, that are supposed to help you make you feel stupid for asking a question that they think you should already know the answer to. Team leaders only care about stats, not that their agents are over worked and under paid. Seriously the only good thing about working for this company is that it’s remote. The micro managing in this company also is a major problem. If you ask a question from a specific person working on a case from a different department, all you get is attitude. 
You take abuse from insurance agents and clients as well but the company just expects you to put it behind you and soldier on. Constant system changes with no time to acclimate. While training is over the course of a week or two, a lot of situations you find yourself in when on the phones are NOT covered in training, therefore you have to learn as you go along. Team leaders belittle and talk down to you. No accountability is taken when mistakes are made. Just a shrug and an “oh well”. There’s so many things wrong with this company and with how agents are treated and not just by management but other agents as well. Foresters needs to do better.

I  only worked at this company for a few months before I had to get myself out of there.   I did not enjoy the work environment at all.  This company has a very bureaucratic atmosphere.  I am not sure if this was due to the personality types or perhaps because they are a heavily regulated industry. 

Many of the people who work at Foresters have family members working there. There are also many people who have been working there for years and years which tends to make management stuck in their ways and unopen to new processes and procedures.  If there was something new introduced, the bureaucratic culture means it would have to be discussed a million times, a new policy be made, branded and so on.  Even for the smallest things. 

Working at this company, depending on your position, you will be watched all the time.  I had a number of meetings constantly on things I needed to improve or do differently. Always in a negative fashion. I didn't feel it was constructive criticism.  It was just criticism for the sake of having something to report. 

It is also very cliquish. Depending on your friendships with people or management meant getting away with certain things. 

All in all I did not enjoy the work culture of this company and there needs to be a big overhaul internally.

Overall the people are great and the company is awful. No room for advancement, you have to be liked by management in order to be "released" to another dept. Or have a family member that has some tenure, otherwise you're stuck! 
Employees that actually do quality work are over looked and come across as slackers vs reps that take 70+ calls per day that are undocumented...many of those calls produce call backs. 
Management is a JOKE several a* kissers that get others to do their work and they take credit. 
Need to hire more staff as callers tend to wait 20+ mins to speak to anyone and are irrate before you can can get to the reason fir their call.
Agents lack knowledge and submit business they know won't stay on the books but long enough for them to get compensated. Their comp is pretty good too.
The only good thing is some of the benefits they offering their members...like the emergency disaster relief but they have to wait 8 weeks to get it. So much for emergency benefits.
The CEO has a great personality though, dispite being American.

The job itself can become boring after a while, for some it may be a good thing to have an easy job compared to other similar entry level jobs. It depends on your career level and what you are looking for. 
 
For some older workers or those looking for a simple 9-5 office job, this may be ideal but for early career starters or those motivated to do more this can be very disappointing due to the actual work involved. If accepting the job I would recommend using it as an opportunity to improve your soft skills and to build workplace habits to develop yourself and to try to move to other departments after you've established yourself. 

It's task based and the team works together to complete the daily assignments. Some team members were great, helpful, when you are not able to complete your tasks. Overall not bad if you take the positives of the job. As for the Company, like most jobs, your experience will be Team based. Outside of my Team, it seemed there was a positive company culture. 


Management changed course far too many times during my tenure.
Initially the role was a wonderful when I started in 2000. The role was entirely client and membership focused. Management was accessible and progressive. However, over time, the role and compensation structure began to devolve. in time, the many changes in middle and upper management resulted in a culture which was less client focused on sales and more concentrated on the bottom line. This resulted in the sales staff becoming incentivized to act against the best interests of the Foresters membership and clients. one this n=became clear to me, I tendered my resignation and embarked on a different course.

Typical day is taking over 40 calls. This was an entry position and it helped me learned about the industry. Colleagues are generally nice. The 2 SMEs and the Team Leads are professional and generally nice. The senior reps they currently have in 2024 in the service center shouldn't be in that position. They talk ALOT of trash about the workers and create a toxic environment. They belittle people ugh! I hope management sees this! Bring back the senior reps from early 2023 or at least people with similar traits and ethics. The company has been around for more than 150 years. Overall they're alright. 

CSR JOB--They boast about what a great place it is to work here but it's not, they are super nice during your training then management and staff becomes very mean and unhelpful. If you think this job is better than the big telecommunications companies you'll be very disappointed. Every month a few of your phone some calls are reviewed, and you are criticized every month, or more.
When staff quit or are fired they send a email to every staff member in the company stating the reason, this is humiliating I felt bad for them. You have to pay for parking on their property. They constantly move you to another desk area, so making friends is impossible,  its very lonely. Salary is really low and expectations are really high.  Very stressful job. callers are nasty . Do yourself a favor and avoid this company.

Foresters is a fast past environment, where you have to use your time management skills; for example you have to prioritize your day and make sure the Certificate deliveries was done first each day.

I learned  time management skills, how to prioritize and to get things done in a timely manner.

Management was always supportive and helpful when approached with situation when you need their approval.

My coworkers was very supportive and always willing to help.

The hardest part of the job was communicating with other departments with getting things done in a timely manner.

The most enjoyable part is dealing with the Agents and ensuring that their needs are met.

CONS:
Lack of Communication unless the Managers are micro managing you. 
Pay isn't adequate for the amount of work you do. 
Advised you don't have a specific amount of sick days but harass you if you take more than 5 sick days in a year. Promise you fair rotating shifts but when the time comes say it's based off your stats so your stuck with a shift your hate.
Not enough training provided.
Say they care about their employees buy they only care about their own financial gains. 
Not a fun place to work. You go in you work you leave. Nothing exciting about the job
