Fort Mckay

A typical day at work involved me gearing up with the proper PPE and tools for that particular day. Heading out in the mine and either filling stock in said lunch shacks or doing small repairs to the lunch shacks to maintain overall operation of the units. I learned lots of hands on skills , Especially form my co-worker who had been in the industry for many years. The hardest part of my job involved the physical aspect of it. for an entire day I could be loading and off loading 50-60lb buckets of sand to fill sand bind all around the mine. Ironically I enjoyed that part of it the most. physical work is my forte along with intensive problem solving .

My first rotation was mainly about getting used to camp life. 10 days of classroom time.
Second rotation was getting to know the different types of work provided.
Third to Seventh (last) rotation i remained on the slashing crew.
The management were great but because it was a pilot project or first of its kind. it took the management a few weeks to get a good grasp of what need to be done. my co workers were all from so it wasn't bad. The entire project was great and i would like to find employment to further my career as a slasher.

While at work I learned many new skills such as safety and time management. I enjoyed working with a team or individually and personally thought the management was very helpful with my daily tasks. For example, if I had anything I was unsure of how to complete to the best of my ability, I would ask for their opinion or advice. The best part about my job was the time spent working and gaining new experiences. The hardest part of my job was being in the cold, but I eventually got used to it.

It was my first time working on a Reserve in Fort Mckay, and it was great. I did construction, painting, landscaping, demolition, drove the packer, used hand tools and power tools as well I was a driver fr the comany along with construction labourer. It was fantastic. I love physical work and trying to advance myself as much as I can..

The people in charge have no idea what job/duties are required on the floor. Huge disconnect between workers and management.   Wages peak after three small raises to what is an unlivable rate.  No incentive to stay and work hard.

I always looked forward to going into work in the morning. The people I work with are great fun and always have your back.  They would have fun activities to participate in and were vary welcoming.

I really like to work in camp environment because I love the routine, I love waking up and go work out at the gym eat breakfast and get ready to work everyday, I would do that all my life.

Nothing hard with the job wish Fort McKay hadn't lost the contract, miss and loved that job, I have learned how to be productive all by being a safe operator

A typical day can be anything from trenching to framing. I learned a lot while I was there. A lot of skills were utilised in the building of different projects.

The work/life balance at Indeed and benefits are great. But if you're not in one of the main office branches, you can't expect any personal development or growth opportunities.
