Booking, office work, looking for new business, dealing with different venues and employees. In the summer which is busy season I need to recruit employees through job fairs, postings, referrals. I also create quotes for new jobs, follow up on pricing and schedules, arrange for transportation to and from the venue if needed, schedule all employees for their shifts. Book support staff to help at these venues, train staff. Once schedule/venue. I tam then responsible for job assignments of the supervisors, the agents and all other support staff. Oversee the whole operation. After event gather up all time-sheets, electronic or paper and ensure that payroll is done correctly, invoice the client accordingly.

Working at Fortas is a perfect second job in the summer time. The hours are long on days of events but time passes by quick as you are doing various things throughout the day and interacting with your coworkers, who I all enjoy working with. The management is good if you get along with the bosses but don't get on their bad side or else the experience potentially won't be enjoyable for you. The hardest part of the job is days when there isn't much going on and you are assigned to a slower position but it's all part of the job. You get to interact with a wide range of people, be outside most of the day and see shows which are all great benefits.

This is a very fun environment to work in. It's interesting to attend some of Montreal's biggest festivals and concerts as both an employee and as a spectator. Managers at Fortas are great guys and are very easy to get along with, likewise with the employees. Most are young adults that attend school during the year and are only there to make some extra bank in the summer when classes are over. The only con I have to working with Fortas, is the lack of available hours in the Fall/Winter seasons, other than that, I highly reccommend this job to anyone interested in being a seasonal worker.

Fortas is a security company that mostly works events in Montreal. A typical workday is a 12 hour shift. All you get is a 20 minute break no matter how long you work(I've had a 21 hour shift before and still was only allowed a 20 minute break). Coworkers are what make or break your day. They're either great people or horrible. Management does not care about the employees whatsoever. The hard part of the job is standing up the whole shift and dealing with rowdy crowds. The most enjoyable part is that depending on your placement you get to enjoy concerts and get paid.

A typical day at work would be heading to a concert with big bands playing. You would be positioned in an area letting certain people in or out. Some people like to take advantage and we try to avoid anything from getting worse. Management was fine. We were always on call. The hardest part was just staying in one place for a long period of time and getting a very small break. The most enjoyable part: seeing the bands play!

Not very good at scheduling hours, sometimes changing hours during shifts and making everything very difficult, management is a bit sketchy and not always able to contact them (dont always answer texts)

The company is a great summer job, but during the year work is mostly reserved for their regulars. Not go and say you won’t get any hours, but you have to prove yourself in the summer as a regular in order to get work during the year

Shifts at at Fortas of vary depending on what occasion, event or festival it may be. You could be doing anything from standing in the sun to directing trucks and/or people to the intended location.

Fortas Security is a great job. I just wish there were more events to work but it pays well and people at the job are very nice and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a summer job.

Work as a security agent during festivals where I make sure that the crowd is safe and under control. Also, I communicate and stay in touch with my supervisor on the radio in case of an emergency.
