Senior leadership consistently deflects responsibility and places blame on their teams when outcomes fall short, yet they fail to provide even the most basic support needed for success. There’s no investment in hiring adequate staff, no budget for team-building activities or morale boosters, and no commitment to fair compensation or raises. Leaders lack not only strategic vision but also the core leadership skills necessary to inspire, support, or develop their teams.
 
The company culture reflects this top-down dysfunction—one where reactive management, poor communication, and disregard for employee well-being are the norm. Innovation is stifled, high performers are overlooked or burned out, and there's no clear path for growth or recognition. Instead of empowering teams, leadership creates an environment of fear, mistrust, and high turnover. It’s a toxic cycle where people are expected to do more with less, and then punished when they inevitably fall short due to systemic neglect.

The software development position offers a solid foundation for anyone interested in a career in tech. The role involves working on a variety of development projects, often collaborating with other teams to meet company objectives. The job requires proficiency in standard programming languages and development tools, with an emphasis on code quality and problem-solving. While the technical skills are important, the position also places value on communication and teamwork.

Typical days would involve scrubbing leads and making calls and sending emails.  Booking a sale whenever possible.
I learned to self motivate as there is a lack of leadership in my position (BDR)
Hardest part of the job would be keeping pace with the ever growing targets and lack of listening from management.
Best part of the job is working at your own pace (as long as you maintain targets, there aren't any questions)

Loved working in The HR department!  There was always some new project, and since there was constant growth there was always something to do!  The HR team is great not only do you work with the Ottawa team you get to work closely with the BC team.  I had the luck of being with Fortinet before and during the pandemic and they were able to transition so smoothly to working remotely.  I would recommend this amazing company to anyone!

Management is only by seniority or creativity and nothing else (like humanity) counted at all to choose a manager. Senior people are not supportive; they may know something but never share it with you and want you to try yourself and struggle ( so no team work  ). 
No work/life balance sometimes you work more than 10 hours per day and not even appreciated by your leader. People are mostly coming from china and I saw so many people switching after while which can be also because of intense micromanaging. 

I've really enjoyed my journey at Fortinet, I've resonated with its purpose of protecting people's data and keeping organizations safe from bad players. 

Management has a clear vision and is unrelenting in achieving its goals. It is nice being able to plan for the long term with out being worried about the company's performance.

Over the years with this company it has proven to be very robust and have many opportunities worldwide.  That being said it is also in a very specific market of high tech and this can be considered volatile.

Fortinet has also proved to be a market leader or near the top.  Started as a very foreign company but has grown to take on all the attributes of a North American modeled firm

- Good place to work
- good work life balance
- They give a good stock grant 
- Stable industry
- Expanding a lot
- Good benefits
- Easy to relocate to the US
Cons
- Poor People management.
- English is hardly spoken inside
- Cheeky recruiters (& HR) will do their best to hire you at a lower salary
- No diversity here at all, 80% Chinese, 20% "gangs" based on nationality
- They don't separate technical leadership from people management, and the result is a boring work culture

Great:

Huge company. Great brand recognition. Awesome management team. Excellent teammates.

Good:

Decent compensation. Good benefits. Nice office at a central location. A lot of training opportunities, but not always the time to do so while on the job. Need to spend some time outside of work to study.

Bad:

Stressful job in TAC. Lots of call volume. Not an easy job.

I have been working for over eight years. People and technology are excellent. However, at the CEO & CTO has no vision, to control, cause management to be yes men. 

Until CEO & CTO is replaced this company will ever be a true class.
