Four Seasons

Management are disorganized and it is difficult to give any feedback to them concerning their performance and/or any issues within the department. Monthly reviews are not monthly, but moreover closer to quarterly, and advancements within the company are extremely hard to access, as they prefer to hire from outside the company instead of promoting from within. The team of colleagues on the same level (i.e. non-management) are great, and the product itself is always beautiful and motivating. It is enojoyable to come to work because of the chance to make a difference in the day of ones' guests and colleagues, but not for anything more.

The work culture is such that if you are not working far longer and harder than your job description requests, you are slacking and not showing initiative. Turnover on the management level is high and retention is haphazard, which gives the impression of a poorly managed environment where your prospects are to advance in the system (if you are one of the 0.2% who are allowed to) towards a job where you will burn out and suffer. Admittedly, this is an industry issue, but the Four Seasons is one of the worst companies I have seen for this in all my time working in hospitality. 

While luxury is meant to cater to the client, and those entering this market are aware of this, there is no protection for employees from harrassment, be it physical, verbal, or sometimes sexual, from clients towards empolyees. Instead of having reprocussions, guests are given complimentary apology gifts for the 'inconvenience' of being told not to berate, touch, or even assault employees, leading to an undeniable sense of deep lack of safety when on the job. 

I had such high hopes of enjoying my time working for such a popular and high-end company, but it couldn't have been further from enjoyable. A typical day would involve what you'd expect in housekeeping: turn up to work, get your cleaning supplies, get your list of rooms to clean and you'd go to them and do the job. It was very autonomous, and it wasn't uncommon to spend whole shifts without speaking to or seeing anyone, which got quite frustrating. I didn't have the chance to really get to know my co-workers, but at times I found them to be rude and unhelpful. There were three different people in charge, and whether or not I had a good day usually depended on who was in charge that day. When I ran into some issues, I was passed around and given offers of help which I never received. Like a few people I knew, I wasn't enjoying the work and wanted to apply for another department given I was receiving no help or support to do my own job better, but unlike the people I knew this wasn't offered to me - which I'm certain was due to issues with my appearance, as they had no issues moving anyone else between departments. The hardest part of the job was not having enough time to do the best job I could, which was frustrating for me as a perfectionist - and I'm certain others must cut corners in order to finish in time but I couldn't do that so I fell behind and was always made to feel terrible about it, despite us being told it was more important to get it right the focus was always on finishing in the allotted time-frame. I would have found it much more enjoyable had I been given enough time, but the fact of the matter is they didn't have enough people employed.

I was very excited to try out a new part time position at the Four Seasons Corporate Office, and to be honest I was quite disappointed. 
I was delighted that I had secured the part time position, the corporate office in Toronto is beautiful, I loved how reputable the company was, and the excellent customer service. However, behind the scenes it is a different story. 
Initially they provided such positive feedback in training, however outside of training one week in they begin to drill you. 
You are expected to adhere to the call standards on day one and you are penalized if you do not hit every point in the call even if you are successful with reservations. 
They like to micromanage the system you are using, you must log in right for the time of your shift, however their system is so slow that 15 mins is not enough to get it up and running. 
I was spoken to because I was three minutes late logging in, and was asked to log in half an hour prior to my shift. I was not being compensated for this time at all. 
On top of that, they advise you that they are very flexible, however if you are a part time agent they schedule you every weekend until you request a day off, and even then they do not provide it to you. 

Dont get me wrong, there are some wonderful people in this company but others are just plain letting the job get to their heads and are extremely rude and micromanaging.  (Esp team leads) 

As the headquarter of Four Seasons, working here is able to meet a lot of high profile people.
Working experience at Four Seasons is great on resume for someone who prefers to stay in the hotel industry

- Prolonged standing in dress shoes, no sitting allowed even in the bell room.
-have to stand at least 8 hours for the entire shift. Even for the overnight shift 
-Bell desk is outside, have to stay outside for the entire shift.
-Weather elements can be harsh during hot summer and cold winter.
 -No actual summer uniform, still requires to wear suits in the summer even it’s 35 degrees outside.
- Very demanding and picky hotel guests
-Company culture is toxic, and brainwashing, always believe guest is right, makes employee feel demeaning.
-Management is hypocritical, trying to be professional and supportive, but doesn’t actually care about employee at all.
- pay &amp; benefit are surprisingly below industry standards

This is a good part time job, if you don't mind the split shift hours...a morning school run, and an afternoon run. So there is about 4 hours in between to do whatever.  This company only drives the smaller school bus, so a class 4 license is needed, not a class 2, which is great for people that are not interested in driving a large bus.  The other thing I liked is that you keep the bus at your place...no driving back and forth to a bus lot.
4 Seasons drives "differently abled" students. Some are in wheelchairs, some are non-verbal, some kids are high functioning, some are not.  This takes extra time to load and unload, so there may only be 2-10 students on a route.  And there is also an aide with every driver to manage the loading/unloading and keep everyone calm during the ride.   
If you don't want to be a driver, you can be an aide, which pays $70 per day.


Brilliant team of hard-working, intelligent and friendly workers. Companies often say that their advantage is in their people but this company lives by that by providing amenities and a positive work environment that allows them to carry out their best work. Nobody seemed to hate coming to work, even though everyone was very busy and had a lot on their plate. Open plan allowed you to ask questions easily if you needed help and colleagues were always willing to give a helping hand. Very positive work experience, and feel it allowed for productive and efficient workers. Seem to be a low employee turnover with many being years in the company, (yet not always in the same role) and I always feel that this is an encouraging sign.

Typical day at work consists of greeting clients, showing them to their lockers/giving them a tour, answering any questions they might have. 
Keeping the front and back of the spa clean along with any amenities, getting/folding laundry and being in constant communication with reception and the laundry room. 

What I learned from this job is proper time management. Most of my co-workers worked very hard, but all in all they were very nice. Hardest part of the job was going all the way down to get laundry, while being on call from reception to greet a guest. It was more of a rat-race than anything, and was not organized very well at all. The job responsibilities were piled up more on the Attendants.
The most enjoyable part of the job would have to be folding and putting away robes/slippers. Also, the free lunch wasn't a bad touch.

I have had the most wonderful experience and am so grateful for all that I have acheived working with such amazing people and in such a wonderful company.
I am half Argentine/Canadian , my mum lives in Canada and I have always dreamed to move to Canada and continue growing in my hospitality career.
The management is exceptional and workplace culture exceeds expectations.
The hardest part of the job  was working so many hours in front of a computer and the most enjoyable part of the job was my role that permitted me to interact with all the different areas and employees of the hotel. I was in charge of what we call our Elite Guests and that of course was my speciality, never a no and making the impossible, possible for them!
I am very much a people person and enjoy being more in contact with them.

Working in the The Four Seasons Offsale was quite boring during the week I worked from 6p.m until 2a.m and certain days it would be steady, certain days it would be slow so when I had nothing to do I would stock clean, wipe the coolers and shelves. I also enjoyed it because I have met a lot of cool people and learned to be very outgoing and assertive.The  management was good and very well managed, I only worked with another person on the weekends to stock shelves and coolers she was friendly girl who I enjoyed working with but over all it was a very good environment to be in while on shift, the hardest part of my job was the long hours and dealing with drunk people and shoplifters, the most enjoyable part I was in such a steady and busy business where I enjoyed working with the customers

A typical day at work involved daily income report, room statistics, payroll issues, payable, receivables, food and beverage, dealing with department managers, fitness club, parking, disputes, etc.

I learned to treat people with respect the way i was treated. My co-workers are probably the best and were the most important team members.

I was a member of the executive committee, and met once a week to discuss with the most important issues dealing with personnel, finances,expenses, capital assets, renovations, budgets, room occupancy, forecasts, etc

The hardest part of the job was to ensure financial statement were provided on timely and accurate basis by the end of the month.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working with great people who were hard working, loyal, trustworthy and helpful.
