This is NOT a good place to work.. management do not care one bit about any concerns you have and sometimes they just walk away from you while your trying to ask them  something or just out right ignore you and they just stand around watching everyone run around stressed while sometimes making you prioritise their own orders as if they are VIP… over actual paying customers who will be tipping.

The tip out is so so bad! Some of the bar staff were saying they walked out with as little as $5 a shift while I was there even though they have their own massive section. They take over half your tips and if you lose chits or anything they will take it off your tips even though the business still received that money. They ask you to offer free shots to customers just to get 5* reviews and tell you if you don’t you won’t get scheduled the following week. Your under an enormous amount of pressure, and will get told off for the tiniest error while never getting any recognition for how good you have worked. They also tell workers there are incentives like tickets for things or trips for selling so much or drinks at the end of shift but no one has ever received anything so it’s all a lie to make you work harder but no rewards.

The reason why there is so much pressure aswell is because they have such a high turnover of staff.. they will always be able to find new workers because they are downtown but people work for a few weeks and then leave when they realise how bad the money is and how bad they get treated! New staff are never ever trained properly and so many people just don’t turn up to work/call in/ quit with no notice or get fired so it ended up being understaffed and/or only people with barely any training doing the work and then you have management blaming them for not knowing enough.. it’s a vicious circle where the staff are almost always the ones to blame and no accountability is taking by incompetent management! 

The one good thing about working here is your colleagues like other servers and bartenders. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Honestly one of the better places I’ve served at. It gets busy, especially on weekends, but the energy makes the shifts go by fast. The staff all help each other out and management is pretty understanding compared to a lot of restaurants I’ve worked at. You meet a lot of different people here and the atmosphere is always lively. Definitely a solid spot if you enjoy a fast-paced environment and good team vibes.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
One of the most challenging parts can be managing busy shifts during peak hours, but the fast-paced environment helped me improve my multitasking, communication, and teamwork skills. Overall, it was a positive experience that helped me grow professionally.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company had a welcoming and energetic atmosphere. Everyone worked together as a team, especially during busy hours, which made shifts enjoyable and productive. I appreciated the supportive management and the opportunity to learn and grow in a customer-focused environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day involved preparing the dining area, greeting and serving customers, taking orders accurately, and making sure guests had a positive experience throughout their visit.

STAY AWAY! I could write a novel about how toxic is place is but to give a summary:

Front of house staff/ servers / bartenders are mentally and verbally abused by the head chef. The owners don't do anything about it because they're close with him. So many good people have quit because of this guy alone (Raj). 


The "AGM" (Will) has no experience and makes more work than if he wasnt here. Spends all night on his phone and talking to his buddies rather than helping the team. Only there to feed his own ego. Talks down to staff. Has no leadership skills and no business having that position but is buddy buddy with the owners so gets to act however he wants (badly) with no consequence. 


The tip out system is complete BS and despite multiple efforts by many of the staff to ask for a breakdown of where the money is going, they refuse to provide any details or breakdown of the tip out so you have no idea where all that money is going. 


Everytime someone good gets hired they leave because they cant put up with the stress that comes from those 2 people alone. If they were gone this place would really have a chance to have a proper team who would help that place soar. The rest of the staff are great , but since the owners seem to value toxic people like that over valuable assets and give them so much power to act awfully to the staff, it makes working there when they're present a complete nightmare.

I really enjoyed working at Fox on John. The atmosphere is busy and energetic, which makes every shift engaging. You need to like a fast-paced environment, but it’s rewarding good hours, good money, and a team that supports each other during rushes.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Because it is a high volume venue , the busiest nights can be intense and require strong multitasking and teamwork. However, it teaches you to stay organized and work well under pressure.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I had a beautiful experience with the team. During busy shifts everyone helped each other out and communication was important, which made the work environment supportive and easier to handle

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When I arrive I check that everything is stocked and ready, polishing cutlery, preparing rolls and plates, and making sure the section is set up. Once service starts there is always something to do: taking care of tables, running food when is need a hand, and keeping sections clean and ready for the next guests. The pace stays busy throughout the shift and ends with side work and closing duties.

What is the best part of working at the company?
So far it’s great. The people I’m working with are very nice and we get along. I can’t speak for every employee as I mostly communicate with those connected to my tasks. Sometimes I do get tasks off duty but not really a problem as they are just minor tasks. Pay is good. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I’m not really stressed out since I do always get the work done on time. I think its a matter of how you manage yourself and your tasks.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I’m not great with small talk but everything is great. The people I directly work with are understanding and great with expressing with what they needed to be done.

If you are looking for a poorly managed, unprofessional, and uncomfortable work environment, then you've come to the right place. 
During my initial interview, I was told that The Fox on John treats their work environment "like a family", which could not be a truer self assessment. 
Through my time there I'd encountered a culture filled with favoritism, derogatory remarks, and an alarming tolerance for misogyny (primarily amongst the management).

I’ve had the pleasure of working with the company for over a year, and it’s been a consistently fast-paced and exciting experience. The management team is strong and supportive, and as long as you're willing to work hard and keep up with the dynamic pace, it’s a fantastic environment to be a part of. The workplace culture is warm and welcoming—it truly feels like family. The most challenging and rewarding aspect of the job is the high energy and constant activity, which keeps every day engaging at this incredibly busy location.

Management is all over the place. Turnover is extremely high. They mess up tip out all the time because their cash and tip out system is so outdated, you have to keep every receipt from every transaction from your shift and manually do it yourself. Management is constantly reminding you at every pre shift they will fire you and get someone else to replace you if you make mistakes. Coworkers are nice and no drama unlike most restaurants because the staff switches up every couple of weeks. Good money but tip out is 10%.

I loved working here, thoroughly enjoyed my colleagues and fellow employees, I also love the owner and appreciate them. However, the general management was extremely unprepared for the role, and therefore caused much stress and issues with service and employees. I felt very unsupported, and saw many needs not being addressed. I feel if this place had better management it would be a great place to work.

A lot of drama, a lot of brainless people, and the worst part is a herd of idiots who know nothing about hospitality. There is a lack of management, with 20-year-old teenagers pretending to be managers, not being able to do the job properly, and knowing nothing. The greedy owners don't see this as a problem and don't look for solutions. They have a GM who is just their puppet. As a result, you have no significance at all. If your life is going great, definitely join and work here; you can learn very valuable life lessons.
