Freeport Industries gave me an opportunity to learn a trade (carpentry) when I had no previous experience. Management was reliable and understanding. As a young female starting in the trades I felt safe to bring any of my concerns or safety issues to management where they were thoroughly dealt with. They also have an amazing safety team that follows all BCWorkSafe regulations and are genuinely concerned about the safety of all workers. Freeport is a great place to get your foot in the door if you're new to trades, pursuing an apprenticeship, or a journeyman looking for steady work. And if you're a hard worker there's opportunity to grow and advance in a booming home building industry.

Other perks included overtime available everyday and weekends, secure 40 hour work week and benefits available. Also indoor work available if you're in electrical, plumbing, hvac, back framing and some framing departments.

Leadership was often disorganized and uncommunicative. There was a lack of clear direction, and decisions were frequently made without consulting the team, leading to confusion and inefficiency.
The workplace culture was highly toxic, with favoritism and office politics undermining teamwork and morale. Constructive feedback was often ignored or met with hostility.
The high turnover rate speaks volumes about the underlying issues within the company. Many talented employees chose to leave due to the unsustainable work environment.

Advice to Management:

Listen to your employees and address their concerns rather than dismissing them. Invest in creating a healthier work environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Improved communication and a clearer vision are essential for the company’s future success.

Very unorganized place to work. Same mistakes are made over and over again. Management says one thing but always does the opposite. I was threatened after giving my notice of resignation and was also sent a threatening letter weeks after leaving. This was a very clear indication that I made the right decision to leave.

The commute. The bus ride was long but had to walk a bit too . Other than that no worries

Everyone works together to get projects finished

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy. It was always busy. There was always something to do.

I was a production supervisor there for 14 months, and laid off recently due to a shortage of skilled labor. The entire operation is poorly run with no real direction and no skilled trades. The entire build process is behind due to supply chain issues and no skilled trades persons  to install or contribute to manufacturing process. It was Seriously frustrating to be a part of that disaster , so thankful to be gone.

QA/QC check all production documents for completion then follow up on incomplete form and take action if needed. I learned not to trust this company upper management as they cut corners and lied to me.This was a good learning curve on who to trust and fellow works that worked aginst management. I never worked with such an un happy crew.

Company is an absolute joke, management is more clueless than most of the employees. Some employees there are good at what they do and very helpful. But the other 30 people there have no idea what's going on most of the time. Pay was decent but the management is incredibly useless. Supervisors are even more clueless than management. Overall I suggested not taking a  position with Freeport. 

No one in management actually listens to any feedback from employees, and as a result, they constantly make the same mistakes.
They lack the resources to support achieving their end goal and are quick to point the finger and blame you for not having things completed.
Management acts as if they are doing you a favor by employing you. 

If you like being over worked and under paid this is the place for you.. not to mention the amount of rework you’ll have to do or the lack or replies you get from HR and management. If your a status native pay will be tax free but it was near impossible to get a pay raise due to the fact I did not have to pay taxes..

Not knowing if you have a job.

Management is told by CEO who works or not. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
 lack of unity,  say one thing about the Family environment- does not exist.
