This company is an excellent place to work. I was very happy to have my first job in Canada with this company as a receiver. Everyone was kind to me, and the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. The team is incredibly supportive and always ready to help.

In my role as a receiver, I was responsible for handling incoming shipments and ensuring everything was in order. The training provided was thorough, and I felt well-prepared for my duties. Safety and health are highly prioritized here, ensuring a secure and comfortable working environment. There is a wonderful diversity of cultures and backgrounds, which blend together beautifully.

The management is approachable and genuinely cares about the well-being and professional growth of the employees. The company also offers great opportunities for learning and development, making it an ideal place to start and build your career.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The management. And the refusal to fix equipment as it breaks down around them.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Management is impossible to please and will ALWAYS find a reason to criticise you. Nothing you call in for is private. The entire building will find out and make fun of you for your medical issues/family emergencies.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I come in, start to do my job, get interrupted by the supervisor for a 20 minute lecture about how to do my job. Start working again, get interrupted so the supervisor can assign me other tasks, again about 20 minutes, start working on new tasks. Reassigned. Get to the end of the day, get in trouble for not finishing first tasks, despite being interrupted continuously.

There's close to 0 job security with this company; unless someone resigns, gets laid off, or passes away, you won't move anywhere in this company. Their management style is old school; meaning help make more for the company, but don't expect to be compensated or even recognized. 

They also aren't about contributing positively to an employee's life, such as providing training or learning opportunities. It's constantly about the profit margin. Spend less on employees = more revenue for the company apparently. 

People come and go in this company, it's a surprise how they can keep the job atmosphere positive.

A regular day at the FreshPoint Warehouse was taking out produce from trucks, lining them up on the work floor, going through the orders, and placing them into the coolers. I learned to work in a fast paced environment efficiently, making tidy orders for customers, and certification in power jack driving. All the co-workers were nice and friendly. They did not speak much English but the communication was still great. The hardest part of the job was probably bending over to pick things up for long hours along with the hours being from night until morning. I enjoyed constantly learning more about new product that I did not know of and the communication with my co-workers.

Managed all aspects of planning and scheduling with forwarders / transporters movement of freight (import and local logistics) of produce for Ontario and East Coast Sysco operating companies.

Supported 50% growth in Sales. 

Oversaw, trained, and mentored 3 Supervisors and 2 people in Customer Service and Support team. 

Conducted inspection process for product quality.

Addressed new challenges on a daily basis

Enjoyed every minute of being at work and interacting with my co-workers.

For a smaller sized plant of about 35 employees and 17 of them quitting within 19 months of the time I was employed there says a lot about how this establishment is run by management.  The turnaround is ridiculous; everyone is either leaving or has left due to the extremely toxic work environment.  Management is unstable, one day you get told you are doing a fantastic job and the next you are being micromanaged and yelled at, the day after we appreciate you so much and 3 days later being let go without cause.  I highly recommend finding employment elsewhere.

It was an awesome experience working here at Freshpoint.  Working at Fresh point is a good experience for me because i had to meet different people and i had a lot of friends there and its nice working with them.  About the job that i did is also a good and memorable experience for me. And i'm thankful that i worked at Freshpoint and i will never forget those people whom i worked with.

Working for Sysco was very challenging but good. I first started working there through an agency and after a few months they hired me and a few months after working hard and always helping out and making sure the work was completed. They one day called me in the office to congrat me on my new Leadhand position kwhich never paid well, that comes with a lot of work, stress and responsibilities. After a few years I decided to find a better paying job. There is sometimes I also missed working there.

Underpaid and overworked makes up an immediate description of working for freshpoint. Drivers and warehouse workers are constantly shifting, as in addition to the poor compensation, the management is laughable. The place is a gong show at the best of times.
I’m genuinely unsure how the Nanaimo branch at least hasn’t gone under. There’s some good people there, but the work environment is so chaotic it’s hard to appreciate anything.

The best part of working at freshpoint was the health benefits. They’re pretty solid
