I have been employed with Friendly Fires for a couple months now and I couldn’t be happier with this decision. It’s always hard trying something new and they understood that. BEFORE being hired, I was sent to Belleville to talk to employees as well as Peterborough to shadow and this made my decision 100% easier. They did not have to do this but they did anyway and all I can say is thank you for taking the time to win me over!! The staff is amazing, management is top notch. I have worked in places where you can’t even remember the name of your manager, but everyone at Friendly Fires is memorable. The managers are right there when you need them, staff is also there to help. This is a very healthy work environment and I have never experienced this before with other employers. They treat us with respect and as humans, they know there is life outside of work and very accommodating. We have meetings 3 times a week to make sure everyone’s questions are answered and never feeling left behind. Lastly, your accomplishments are always being noticed and even if there are mistakes being made, they like to look at the positives as well. I plan to be here for a long time and I would highly recommend anyone to apply and become part of the Friendly Fires Family! 

Friendly Fires is a good place to work, with the exception that safety isn't a priority. You'll be paid well and your co-workers will be nice, but you'll always be treated as an expendable, disposable cog in a wheel. They say remote work is impossible when it is possible; one of two owners worked from home. That owner was the only one to work from home. They tout a 'family' environment, but it's not really there. 

Management didn't require staff to wear necessary PPE. You'll likely be reprimanded for raising safety concerns should you have them. My employment was terminated for raising safety concerns and exercising my right to refuse unsafe work. 

Find a different employer, one that will value your safety. I hope Friendly Fires improves because it is otherwise a nice place to work.

  A fast paced work environment with plenty of learning opportunities for professional development. 

  Management is always willing and available to assist and guide towards solutions in difficult situations.

  There is an enormous amount of niche experience within the hearth industry to draw from at Friendly Fires from people who have been in the industry for decades.

  The hardest part of this job is trying to satisfy every customer's needs with the limited amount of hours in a day during the busiest time of year.

  The most enjoyable part of this job is amount of unique learning experiences I encounter everyday.  There is never a dull moment.

Great company !  Family run business. Compensation is good and the workload goes along with that so come prepared to work hard!
Extremely fast paced in busy season so multi tasking and time management are a must. 
Stress level can be very high based on the nature of the business in busy season.
 This would be the most challenging time of the year.
Attention to detail is super important 
The work is interesting and multifaceted as the industry changes continually and the company continues to grow .
Management are supportive and open to input of ideas and encourage conversation with regular zoom meetings

Great company. Started in a customer service role and found ample opportunity to advance my career early on. Great people (management and coworkers), who consistently go above and beyond to help you succeeded no matter your role in the company. 

Dynamic environment that moves rapidly in the busy season, however processes are designed to keep details easy to manage in the day to day.  Sets you up for success. 

Benefits are great,  all staff go above and beyond to make sure you feel/ know you are a valued team member. 



Even in the off-season the daily operations of the business always seem to be busy.  Working here I've learned the importance of process and policy when it comes to making an efficient operation.  Management is always there to lean on and cultivate growth.  Difficulties in the supply chain have been challenging and have forced us to adapt.  Like any job the best part of working here is the people. 

I've been working at Friendly Fires for just over 5 years and can honestly say its been refreshing to be part of a small-medium sized company who behaves professionally and rewards team members for performance.  If I want to earn more - I can.  If I want to work less - I can.  They care about keeping and motivating good employees.  Best ownership team I've seen.  No wonder they are so successful.

I currently work at Friendly fires and have been for several years now and there are so many opportunities to grow within. 

While this is a fast pace environment everyone here works together to ensure quality customer service.

Time off has never been declined so long as you give ample notice but if something ever came up last minute, management is always willing to work with you.    

Colleagues are great to work with. Management are supportive and open, always willing to help out and answer questions and are right beside staff, especially in the busy season, helping out. 
Lots of information to learn about the industry. Manuals/processes are easily available to reference and opportunities to shadow others as needed.
