Funhaven

I was employed at Funhaven for almost three years, and I have been placed in different positions in the different departments that exist at Funhaven itself. Therefore, a typical day for me would vary in what position I would be in for that month.
Funhaven has a very unique working environment in which I enjoyed walking into every shift. It is a big and loud facility, but the smiles from every child that enter the facility are worth the hard work that is put into every hour. Whether it be serving their dinner, hosting their birthday parties, or cleaning any part of the facility throughout the day - just knowing that I was a part of the team that day was enough to make me happy and to push through the day.
One lesson that I have learned at Funhaven was to be patient. Throughout my employment, I had direct contact with children with ages that ranged from 1 to 14. Going from a 10 year old party to a 6 year old party took some adjustment, but patience was a lesson learned when in contact with children.
My co-workers are part of what makes Funhaven's working environment unique - the co-workers there are just as crazy as I am, and I have made real friends throughout my employment there. Communication between my managers and co-workers sometimes went beyond professional, but even if customers were to spot our attitude towards one another, only positivity and amusement would be brought to them. Funhaven is all about the smiles, and I am proud to say that the amount of singing, dancing, craziness, and screaming that I have done at Funhaven is what brings the smiles to the children there. My own personality seeps through the way that I decide to communicate with the children. The freedom that I have to create that kind of communication is what was the most enjoyable part of my job.
The hardest part of my job would be cleanliness. The supplies at Funhaven are sometimes limited to the cleaning that could be done.

Working there over a summer would be awesome. Working there any longer, you just get to find out what a terrible place it is behind the scenes. Staff is amazing, but management is probably the worst I have ever seen. They do absolutely nothing, criticize your work when they would not be able to do it in their sleep, they are not supportive, promise things that never end up happening, have favourite employees and do not even seem to try and hide it, will listen to your feedback then do absolutely nothing, they will do anything to save money with weird hours or under staff busy days and make you work 10x harder still expecting you to go above and beyond. Never work here, it is a sad soul sucking environment that makes you feel awful about yourself.

A typical day at work was working with teenage minded individuals who were to busy gossiping to do their actual jobs most of the time.
I learned a lot however, when it came to customer service and how to handle situations.
Management is horrendous, to say the least. They can't do the jobs themselves and are the first to hide at the sign of trouble.
Good co-workers were far and few between.
The hardest part of the job was easily watching management stand around and do nothing (on the rare occasion that they were actually on the floor) while asking people who were swamped to do more.
The most enjoyable part was watching the kids have fun.

At Funhaven I learned I love working with kids and that I can add salesman to my list of skills, most days started off the same a shift meeting beforehand then off to your station depending on how busy it was we could be doing anything from serving guests to washing everything down and taking inventory. I really enjoyed most of my coworkers although there was some drama but that can't be helped from high school students.

A typical day at work for me consists of hosting parties and doing many other things as well. I have learned so much throughout my time at Funhaven. The management team and my co-workers are all outgoing and fun to work with. It has become a family. The hardest part of the job might be leaving each day! The most enjoyable part is having the ability to make children's days every day. When you have successfully hosted a party and everyone leaves happy and excited - that is the best accomplishment.

Funhaven is a great first job for youth. There is so much to learn for a first job. If you are between the ages of 15-23 this is a perfect part-time job. Availability is done weekly. 

Now, upper management is SO focused on making guests happy that they do no support and stand behind the staff. They don't have any sorority system so someone who has worked there for 3+ years will be paid the exact same as a new staff.

Funhaven is for sure a weekend business when school is in so not many hours during the week. However they are super flexible with scheduling and book off requests. 

The team is all very close and have a lot of fun together! Though sometimes due to the young staff team gossip and rumors can make there way around the team quickly.

The employees are fun to be around and the environment of the work place is very positive. Also the jobs vary a lot through out shifts which is very refreshing. Te only issue I had was with the management. Some are nice, but they keep people employed that should not work there for various reasons, and they make up rules as they go along some making no sense.

Working at Funhaven was an incredible experience, and one of the best few years in customer service. They are particular in those they choose for their team, and for a reason as they genuinely care about the staff and client's environment

Meeting and greeting the younger youth and also having the ability too have fun at the same time.
Most employee's treat the customers as well as the co workers with amazing respect, where as some management does not.
