I worked 10 and 4's. Very busy work style with people hired and laid off like a convyer belt. 11 hour shifts and the learning curve was steep but enjoyed the fast pace and eventually I was in charge of Safety for multiple sites.
Hardest part of the job was trying to convince one superintendant that Safety is the grass roots of progress at this company and he was very traditional.
I enjoyed working with the workers and got to know their personalities.
The most enjoyable part were the lasting friendships I built.

Worked for this company for 4 years and enjoyed it for the first couple. Got to see a bit of Alberta as I was posted to a variety of places and even sent to Manitoba. There is room for advancement if you're a farmboy but absolutely none if a farmgirl. No women on equipment except Rock Trucks and Packers.  
Too much politics though and too many foremen per project. Ended up despising this job because of management or lack of.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is no best part. Work/ life balance is garbage. They work you to the bone! The pay Is junk too

They put stress on the worker. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Safety is a joke. They'll kill someone soon

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Unorganized all the time. Supervisors are a joke

Really enjoyed working for this company. The work atmosphere is always positive due to the safe nature of the company. It really feels like they go out of their way to keep their workers safe. I thought GCS had fair wages and there was lots of opportunity to grow within the company.

I enjoyed the work. Also was given responsibility there but no real upward movement available. We had company meals quite often and the foremen were really cool. Experienced and not unrealistic. I enjoyed the atmosphere and had fun there. Politics are what they are. But overall great place. Id work for these guys again.

The people who work there and the supervisors.

Working out of town so much.

Super safe working environment

Make a plan for work and execute it.

I thoroughly enjoyed working for GCS Energy.  The bosses and workers were very professional and gave respect. We worked well together like a well oiled machine.

I worked a single job for a couple of months, within this amount of time I met good people, worked hard, and benefited from the pay. This job was only temporary for me and gave me a money boost. but if someone has enough drive and love for labor or pipelines you could easily make this a career.

Employees afraid of owner, terrified to come out of their offices.  Field employees kiss up to owners closest friends.  No matter how good you are at your job, you do not get recognition.  Only the owners manclub receives kudos.   Poisonous atmosphere is the nicest thing you can say about this company.

During my time there I enjoyed my job and the people I worked with and for. Everyone was very professional and took their jobs seriously.
Management was very approachable and actually would take time to listen to the employees.
