What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working for the GECDSB was being a Frontline worker working directly with students to help them succeed and watching them grow.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful and difficult part of working for the company is the lack of communication, collaboration, and discrimination of lower positions to those higher up. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The environment is highly stressful. Job descriptions are not followed by supervisors. Extra direction and jobs outside of job class often is expected and takes place. Frequently causing issues with other positions. Little display of empathy  or support from supervisor or board directors towards both staff, students, and their families.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Different daily depending on the wants and needs of supervisors.

The GECDSB has offered the staff many Professional Development activities such as, Tribes Training, TEAACH, Report Card writing, Smartboard Technology and many more PD activities.

 The teacher's are of the highest quality and really love their positions.
The most difficult part of the job was the seemingly unreachable student because he/she was reachable I just could not unlock the barriers.
 The best part of the job is the students and their quest for knowledge and being there to facilitate their development.

I work in a STEPS class in a High School environment. 
Many of the students are in diapers, and non-verbal. Some in wheel chairs. 
My day consists of taking care of the personl needs, aiding in feeding, and help with person care in washroom. 
We work on structured tasks to build independence, and community awareness.
I have learned patience, and the importance of inclusion.
The rewarding part of my job is the tiny steps that each student takes with loving guidance and repetition.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is rarely anyone looking over your shoulder. Did your work, get no complaints and you're golden 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not always being thought of as staff, especially if you are in the afternoon shift 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very positive, enjoyable to go to work everyday 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sweeping, cleaning, mopping, vacuuming

Over the years I feel that I made amazing contributions to the betterment of all students I worked with
Room for advancement working with outside agencies to improve student achievement. 
Senior management failed to work with me as the information they were receiving was incorrect.
Covid and mental wellness is important for employees and past performance appraisals should mean something. Principals take time to do them and they have no validation 

As a before and afterschool teacher I was asked many times to also stay for the schoolboard staff that was off. It has been a wonderful experience so far being chosen for as an employee here. I was shown respect from the principals and the staff members as well as their co-operative help in any part of my day.  I learned great organizational skills and watched how other teachers planned.  implimented and reviewed their topics for the children.

Fun and instructive working environment in the schools. The head office has some red tape and small politics but expected with a education board of this size. The most enjoyable part of the job is learning from students how they learn and interacting with colleagues. Never had a boring day as each day is different and challenging.

It was an enjoyable experience working for the GECDSB as I got to work at the high school I was currently attending allowing me to create a closer relationship with the staff who also taught me throughout the school year

Poor pay, not supported. Not included by other support staff as they think they are better than EA’s. Our knowledge, experience mean nothing. No job description per se we are asked to do anything no one else wants to do. 

From an occasional teacher's perspective, this is a highly unorganized school board for us, in my opinion. Can be thrown into longterm positions with short notice, no time to prepare, no resources provided, and sometimes no prior classroom data. It's too much for one person, and impractical.
