GM Cami Automotive

I spent 30 years there and it always seemed to be evolving. It is now a true GM plant with all the perks and down falls that come with that. In the trades if you want to work and be involved it’s a great place to be. There is however some negative undertones amongst some of the trades people. It’s been a year and a half since I worked there so this may have changed. Many of the long term employees have left or retired so it’s possible some of that attitude has changed. 

For new employees the wages and job security is not at the level of long term employees. This used to be one of the highest paying employers in the area. Now based on the new hire language they are average at best for production and only slightly better than average for the trades. Once the new product ramps up, be prepared for shift work and mandatory overtime. The biggest reason I left was the shift work and working six days a week mandatory for my last 17 years there. Over all I’m a positive person and I enjoyed my time there and met some great people from cleaning staff all the way up to plant managers and all.

Hard work. Always on the go. Supervisors will leave you alone as long as everything is going smoothly. Can listen to earbuds to relieve boredom. Very little appetite to allow days off. Must have 97% attendance rate.
Supervisors were very good when I needed time off to attend hospitals with spouse. Many learned skills can be used at home. Keeps you very active. Noisy, always. Friction between people not tolerated.

learned how to build vehicles, co-workers were very nice and co-operative, management was very nice, i didn't find anything hard about my jobs, found them to be easy and easy to learn, i like coming to work for the experience, the pay helped too,

Great 31 year career for me and my family.
Retired with dignity, income and lifetime benefits.
Went to Japamn for a month of training. 
Met many lifetime friends. 


GM Cami Automotive has an enjoyable work environment. The management, and union members, as well as general workers all provide a safe and fun work place. Every person i have come across has been extremely friendly, and helpful is necessary.

I enjoyed my dynamic work experience. I learned multiple jobs and was supported by many friendly workers that were more than willing to help with any needs or questions. 

There are lots of good people at Cami Automotive I have worked with over the years. It is nice to work in a place where pride and safety have been incorporated into the DNA of the workforce.

I enjoyed my work and met a lot of good people during my 30 yr career. Thanks to the good people I met along the way. Lots of opportunity for advancement if the your desire. 

For starting a career it’s a great opportunity, work is easy enough can be physically demanding but you learn a lot quickly. Management has its ups and downs but union is good at protecting its people and will fight for you when needed 

Safety is a top priority if you’re willing to stand up for yourself you will never be in harms way. The pay is great but could be more raises considering inflation the pay is not what it used to be.
