A typical day of work at GPS security starts with walking into an office where you're immediately greeted and feel like you're at home. From there you start on your work, knowing that if you ever hit a snap you'd be able to talk to the management or your other coworkers to sort things out. Working there helped me realize what a good work environment is like, and how it can greatly enhance productivity. Management was always there to make people comfortable while still gently but firmly getting us to do our job. The hardest part about this job would have been locating older files and documents, but the most enjoyable part was being able to sort through them and organize them in a better fashion.

You will be asked to work overtime for which they bank your hours one to one and do not pay you an overtime rate. They use bullying tactics to get you to come into shifts with less than 24 hours notice and they treat their staff like disposable pawns, they will tell you how disposable you are right to your face. Your coworker will seem nice, but have no problem throwing you under the bus to save face, but the company breeds that kind of each man for themselves mentality. I have never worked for a more demeaning management team. The scheduler will take her own personal feelings about you out on your schedule in the form of cutting your hours below full time hours. If they ask you to jump and your response is not "how high?" then do not work there.

Avoid this company at all costs. Possibly the worst company to work for and deal with. They are extremely rude to their employees and treat them horribly. They also don’t pay guards fairly and don’t pay some guards Stat pay which is mandatory. They refuse to pay overtime and refuse to provide raises to guards. When you do get a raise, it is $0.20/h. Save your time and find a different company to deal with.  If you do work for them, keep an eye on your paycheck to make sure it is correct each time. Management is a joke and when you have to deal with them, you can never get anything resolved. Don’t expect any benefits or perks from working at this company. Not BBB Accredited even though stated on their website.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing good in this company. If you work 12hrs  they will pay you 10hrs. You will  not get back your vacation pay back but they deduct vacation pay every months.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Pay stub . If you work 60hr they will pay what ever hours they desire and even though they keep some hours in their bank. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They are resist . They do not what ever they committed at the time of hiring .

When they did not pay my hours

I had previously worked for GPS Security Canada for a month in 2017 and returned to Canada knowing that I had a job. I began working for them in 2018,  a month later and my life was controlled by my job. The scheduling managers would constantly call me into work in my days off, my pay was constantly incorrect and one manager, in particular, felt it was his duty to humiliate and bully me until I was unable to do my job as a supervisor and driver. Eventually, I ended up as a regular guard with no prospects. Salary always on Hold, No matter what you Performed.No Benefits, Each cheque 42$ Deduction for Uniform, as its illegal in Alberta, But They don't care.

Worked there 2 weeks was fine as a epasoid at home tossed my back out got a doctor's note was not good enough they wanted one saying I can work alone that is now discrimination in work place and they never gave me work

I learned so many techniques of handling Difficult situations. Build confidence to solve problems at the site level.Came to know ,how people make different plans for theft and vandalism.

They possibly have the worst culture, worst management, worst people, in their office. They don't have any respect for their employees. They only think about their interest, not at all for the employees.

GPS Security is doing a great job to protect people, property, and information against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Their uniformed security guards display a nice professional look

Pro: they have been flexible for me

Con: Some issues with upper management 

They have to get better at conducting their schedule and have a better system for collecting payments.
