I worked at Grant Transport from 2001 to 2003 when I first started trucking. I guess it was ok for getting experience but not a place you want to stay at. The Equipment was an embarrassment. Several of their trucks from time to time caught fire, including mine. If the MTO ever did a equipment audit.. Grant would've been stripped of their operating license. They had worst junk on the road. The pay wasn't great. Benefits were ok. Recently drove past their yard..and the terminal was empty. Not surprised.... they almost belly up twice when I worked.

What is the best part of working at the company?
No respect towards the driver.  If sick or injured.   The loads must be done 1st.  Your health or family is not important.

Giving 100% and still not enough

Loads 1st.    You and your family not important 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work till you are tired and keep working and driving or get yelled from dispatch

had a good mix of experiences learned a lot about backing a big rig
good practice coupling uncoupling backing in confined spaces learning nuances of driving an 18 wheeler co-workers very helpful hardest part of job was actually the most enjoyable

They regularly send drivers to California, with no proper training, to load flat glass. Safety is very important- when someone gets hurt. Regularly dispatch their drivers with not enough time to make the drop and reload. If you miss your appointment- then they want to know what’s wrong with you.

Overnight shift wasn't so bad. Long haul drivers and local ones were very cooperative and kind most of them appreciated my assistance. Only thing against was the shift (overnight). Regular pay and good benefits.

Basically as the title says. Its a good starting point but thats about it.  If your a new driver that needs somewhere to build experiance then this is the place. But youll learn quick that there are way better options.

First driving job for US Longhaul.Great company to start with.very understanding.Dispatch had a few ex-drivers so they could give you some good advice when you needed it.

Can get your career moving in the rite direction. You can only go so far with your career as they do not do complete tear down and rebuilds. People are great to work with. Management could be improved upon.

NO control , how much you'll get paid

management is worth (0 star) and not open for any discussion



Worst company I have ever worked for, low rates with shortened mileage. Still trying to get money's owed us 5 months after we left. Stay away from this company.
