Working for GreenSaver is satisfying because they do great work, and have a relatively large portfolio for the residential and low income energy conservation sector, but they can be a frustrating company to work for with a revolving door of employees, office politics, and lack of support from upper management.

The operations team is incredibly undervalued and have had a revolving door of upper management of whom few have been able to provide much support because they have been given too large of a portfolio, or have been bad hires. Managers, supervisors and team leads are left to fend for themselves with little support, and even less pay for the value they add to the company.

People who have stayed at GreenSaver are wonderful to work with because they actually care about their customers, and the impact the program provides. Work from home benefits, and flexible hours help make GreenSaver more attractive.There is room to grow if you take initiative, but office politics also plays a part in progression.

This place was SO bad. The work environment was the worst. First of all, the job i applied for was not the job I did. There was too much politics and gossip especially with team leaders and hr. I think they tried to reduce this but they were the worst contributors. The managers were incompetent. They were dishonest and didnt really care about the employees. The five or six people at the very top are not good leaders. They are the worst leadership team I have ever worked for. They do a lot of hiring because everyone finds a reason to leave or they let go of good people who dont agree with the upper management. Also they dont pay enough. So many of my coworkers were applying for other jobs doing much of the same or better for more money!

There's not a lot of room for advancement - job positions tend to be very brief, 12-18 months, after that you're designated random tasks - it's a corporate structure based on "who you're friends with" - and management is very topsy turvy, some are strict, while others are loose, not even caring to raise your salary accordingly like other employees - training is lacklustre, sometimes having to ask for training, or consistently ask questions when instructions were extremely brief - the people (colleagues) are generally nice, but that's all the job's good for, is meeting people, if you land a job here, don't spend too much time there

There are too many problems. Avoid at ALL costs!

Salaries are WAY low. Lots of people leaves to work somewhere else that pay a lot more for the same job or better. Lots of people see that the managers spend thousands of dollars on frivolous things like office supplies and lunches while they squeeze people on salary.

The whole management team from top to bottom is lost. There is very little teamwork. They do everything in secret. There is a lots office politics. The management team is very unstable. 

I don't trust anything from HR department. HR is untrustworthy and tells lies. There's lots of talk with very little action. The office culture is very very bad.

They are very good at faking that they care about their employees but they really don’t. The turnover rate is high and there’s a reason for it. The employees here are overworked and underpaid. They all hate their lives and trying to find another job at the same time and I don’t blame them. If you get an opportunity to work here, then keep in mind that you should use them for your career advancement and that’s it. Once you find a better job, leave them immediately. Use them as a stepping stone, don’t get too comfortable there. Trust me, you’re going to regret it if you stay more than a year. 

If you are serious about a career in the Environmental sector this is an organization to avoid. Very unprofessional and little room for advancement.. Staff are undervalued and not paid nearly enough for what they do. Decisions are made within the organization with no regard for the people that they will affect. Committed staff who want to make a difference to the world are taken advantage of.

I enjoy working here! My colleagues are fantastic, warm-hearted and knowledgeable people and it is a pleasure to work with them.  I feel I have learnt a lot from them since joining the team.  Management is supportive and understanding. I have been going through tough times throughout the past year, juggling work and family was not easy, and the support I received has far exceeded all my expectations.  I really appreciate it.

The co-workers and most supervisors and managers were great people to work with.

Unfortunately, the management is poor and everything is unstructured and reactive, instead of proactive and cohesive.

Typical day of work involved working with customers and solving problems. It's a good place to cut your teeth and get experience, but ultimately better to move on to better opportunities with higher paying salary and better support from management.

A lot of my colleagues were really great but the CEO and upper management are useless and take advantage of young people who want to make a difference. Extremely low pay (you can't actually live off of your salary in Toronto) and the benefits package isn't that great. Low morale and high turnover because of the working conditions.

Easy to move up as the field team is always growing.  I started as an apprentice with zero experience and moved into the team lead position soon after my probation was up.  Good work and good team members. Overall great work culture and environment. Over my 10 year experience with Greensaver, there has been no shortage of work.
