When I first got hired, I absolutely loved the job. No work experience and I was asked for an interview two days after I hired and then was contacted on the same day I got hired. Training was very simple and fun, while also quite detailed. 

I work most effectively when I can work individually and this job allowed me to do that and I paid the company back by giving it my all every day. When I worked in the summer, they actually told me I was working too much and I couldn't work 15 straight days (which I tried to do). Management and supervision were very friendly and would give the employees some leeway to perform how they wished at their rides. Honestly, they were a little bit too nice as I'd often notice other ride operators were slacking on efficiency and/or time because they could. Obviously, if safety concerns were involved they would be right on the ball, however, for things such as customer engagement, employees generally had control. 

I never did much talking to co-workers as you don't really get the time other than on break, however, I met a couple of guys and they were really nice. 

In a typical day of work, you clock in and you are given a ride to start the day by the management during roll call. Then after normally 1-2 hours, a "breaker" will start and will give each ride operator their breaks based on a given schedule and the area of the park. You go on your break, fill out the time you went on break and go to your next assigned ride on the card. You do this for the 30 and 15-minute breaks. This system really relies on accountability, as if you take a longer break than you're supposed to, it will show on the card and will cause everyone else's breaks to be delayed. 

My only concern I ever had with this place (which ultimately led to me quitting) is that they have no employee loyalty, which makes it really hard for one to work their way up in the company. They have four ride levels and you would be assigned a certain level if you were trained on all the rides in that level. I got hired to work the first level and was trained to operate the second level very quickly. However, I was unable to earn training for the higher levels solely because the company decided to hire new people to work the higher levels and they got to skip the lower levels. This resulted in me after 6 months of working 40 hour work weeks in the summer to be stuck on level one rides in the fall even though I knew level two solely because of these new employees. Instead of training their older employees on the higher levels, and forcing their new employees to work the lower levels, they did the opposite.

My favourite thing about working here was their scheduling system. They use a program called When2Work, which is an online program that shows you your work schedule for the next two weeks. The genius thing about this program is that picking up/dropping shifts is extremely simple, as any shift you don't wish to work is put on a drop/pickup board. If somebody wants to work a shift for that day, they can simply just pick it up. There were also descriptions as to why someone wanted to shift, so if you could not work and were willing to offer financial compensation for taking a shift, you could include that as well.

Overall, a great place to work and if they changed their hiring system, I would give it five stars. I traveled one hour on the bus pretty much every day of my summer to work this job and I have no regrets. I would go back to work there if I could.

Good management, fun work place, and they made sure you had proper training, and even offed to re-train you on rides you forgot how to run.

Lenient, and fun management, morning meetings usually end with a good joke.  You always had the option to work overtime. Once management begged me to work and extra shift.  The park rentals were fun, and busy.  You were never forced to work extra shifts if you didn't want to, but management would try to convince you to do it.  I only refused them once because I was invited to a rental they wanted me to work.

Would operate rides and engage with guests all day. I learned how to provide customer service and how to be a leader and follower. Management does very well and does their best to deal with customer complaints. Co-Workers can be silly and serious. Hardest part of the job is when guests don't cooperate with you and are not satisfied with height restrictions. Most enjoyable part was meeting new people, and learning new skills to become a better employee.

Working at galaxyland is only good if your a high school student or looking for a first job , either than that don’t work here , dealing with customers was the worst part , also repetitive process of operating the ride gets boring over time , annoying and unhelpful management , no room for moving up , management plays favourites , staff members are nice, no benefits except appreciation passes , scheduling sucks,

i learned how to talk and deal with customers as well as safely operate a ride, management was always there and understanding despite the constant stress. the hardest part of the job is the how much it drains you including the long hours but the constant one-two- repeat notion is very draining. my favorite part about working here was that it was a very friendly atmosphere you were never left out.

The management does not care for or accommodate their employees  
or the medical conditions they have. workers are left on rides they are not physically or mentally able to run. If you have medical issues they will not allow you to take care of yourself and if you have one anxiety attack they will put anxiety as one of your limitations. they pick favourites and they treat those who aren't favourites are basically non-existent.

This place doesn’t care how hard or how long you’ve worked there, its hard to move up and train when you’re not considered their favourite. The supervisors are always choosing favourites. The supervisors hardly ever check for safety violations/let their employees get away with certain rules that employees must follow. Dealing with the guests is awful as well. Save the stress and find somewhere else to work!!

Would recommend for people that would like to get out of their comfort zone and get comfortable talking to people. Very engaging work. Pretty easy job just have to have attention to detail and be safety oriented. Create a balance between guest experience and safety. SAFETY IS KING!!!!!

It was fine if boring on the weekdays. Really slow until school ended and the kids came flooding in. Events were stressful, but that's to be expected. Most customers were chill, but the nasty ones were NASTY. Management was ehh.

The hours are very forgiving if you’re a student but the support from management is low. It can be isolating without knowing the right people, aswell as a high frequency of workplace drama within coworkers.
