What is the best part of working at the company?
Benefits and flexibility paid sick days are great .

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Upper management not presrnt enough to see what really happens in the locations the staff basically runs the day to day management of the place no extra pay for the extra tasks and  (Upper managementvreally dont care when things arent working  when staff come late or dont show up at all ,often understaffed.)because they dont have to work there!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
When I was there the most common complaints were that upper management really had very little knowledge of what it was really like to work in these different locations  as well as lack of knowledge on how well the staff work together to get the job done! They pay more attention to the i pads then who is actually doing what to help one another for a smooth running location,that means every staff member doing their fair share! they had all these ideas that really create more work than necessary and dont really work all that well which creates alot of stress in the work day and work environment.
Not mention improper training of new hires . 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Well when you get passed all the computer issues that go on in all locations constantly because their systems are so old they need a complete overhaul ,then your worried about the floats showing up late or at all and most of them dont want to help with all the duties that need doing in the locations takes more to run a location then just taking blood! Not to mention alot of the floats could never be available to work the whole shift so you would be left short often! So most days I went home exhausted!

While i was given the opportunity to complete my Co-op placement hours at Gamma - Dynacare, it was for a total of four short weeks (150 hours). I was assigned with one of the long - time employees to train not only giving direct instructions but to help me understand fully & answer any questions i had. In specimen processing, I started out at labeling which was probably my least favorite of the work tasks. I got to learn how we entered the specimen in the computer system, sent tests to be centrifuged, as well as operated the centrifuge myself. My favorite parts were bar-coding and receiving shipments of specimens. Bar-coding was the final procedure in this department, so it was critical that you poured off the correct specimens, placed them in the correct department for testing and ALWAYS double check everything before sending it off. It was an amazing experience to actually work in a laboratory facility such as gamma, It gave me an idea of how employment will be out there and the hands on learning experience which helped improve on my techniques and performance. By the third week in to my placement i already was treated and felt as though i had just started a new employment. The hardest part of the job was trying to remember where each test was being sent & whether the test had special requirements. They had an excellent manager and staff.

Well, some patients do not regard us as real people. They think we are nurses who have ALL the answers (which we politely say that we don't - although some take it upon themselves to offer insights that we are NOT licensed to provide). It really does matter who you work with! The company is too focused on AI and ignores us when there are issues that we are expected to find the help to get it fixed ourselves. 
We are responsible for finding the solution for technical issues (even though it affects our wait times). We are understaffed because the company has not understood that when more is added to our workload it causes sickness and mental instability. They have programs apparently to counter that yet, WHEN and how are we to access them because by the time we can access them the problems are greater. In the company's eyes they throw defunct "solutions" at us and we are not given the time and they can wash their hands of us.  
 We are a "real time" industry. There are issues that require instantaneous solutions right away or else they get sloughed off because it is taking too long to get an answer, or a solution. The company relies too heavily on technology when dealing with the public. They also value one negative (and let's face it, not everyone is in a great frame of mind to begin with when they walk through our door - as best we can to lighten that!) comment than the other positive comments because the company is so cheap they ignore that they have people working for them to? They deliberately set their workers up to fail regardless of the platitudes they toss our way.

Micromanaged by seniors who favoured certain employees over others. Manager always threw work on others to be able to get out early. Your expected to stay as long as required to get work done and try to avoid overtime pay (makes no sense). Constant bullying that was reported by many, but no one did anything about. There is no room for moving up in this company because they are constantly cutting people to avoid raises and benefits. Work long strenuous hours for little pay. If there is no reason to let you go they will find a loop hole. I witnessed a fellow employee being forced to quit because they wanted to hire someone the manager had a friendship with. Also the manager would ask other employees who they would chose to let go of they had the power to. No one followed rules, on certain work days people were allowed to eat in the laboratory, no one wore proper PSA's unless the presidents or health and safety was coming down. A few people had drug addictions and would come to work high or almost passed out and nothing was ever done about it. People came into work smelling of marijuana even though it's a "scent free building" and they do not tolerate drugs supposedly. During Saturday shifts people would leave for break and take an extra hour because there would only be 2 people in the department. Trailing was never complete for ANYONE, there are people who have been there for years and still require training on certain things that the manager never works on getting done. Dynacare is a toxic environment full of nothing but lazy money hungry executives.

This is the type of place that overworks you without proper compensation. The communication at this company is very poor with most people and the possibly of advancement is non existent. This place is a revolving door for employees who come one week and are gone the next. The company does not care about its employees although it pretends to. The hiring standards for this company are poor as they will hire many who have little to no experience to do the job but expect that you are a professional and fully knowledgeable of the job at the time you start. This is where the revolving door part comes in. Your responsibilities no matter which position you have is that of the entire company as your job description is whatever you are told and is not always accurate. Management has no idea what is going on and you often get in trouble due to the lack of communication. Dynacare in terms of workplaces scored the lowest scores in Canada for communication and job advancement. We would constantly be reminded of this and told to improve but nothing actually changes. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with co-workers that were not management. Some of them are a pleasure to work with while others are just looking to stab you in the back. Its a company where you have to watch your back and not trust anyone as you could be let go at anytime for a reason that is very small.

My opinion of a typical day at Dynacare of a typical day in the lab is; challenging. On a typical day we interact with many people, and it's very important to maintain focus and a high level of professionalism.  We must leave our personal problems and worries at home and put on a smile. The blood collection procedure is stressful and invasive and It's very important to have a good sense of humor and make the people coming to the lab very comfortable. I have learned the importance or enjoying every day, I have met many sick people with real problems and various other medical issues. I have learned not to sweat the small things in life because My worries and concerns are tiny when compared to patients dying of cancer or other serious health issues.
  Dynacer is managed well and the people in positions of leadership are fair and willing to guide and help and are full of knowledge. They treat us  fairly and help whenever they are needed.
  The frontline workers are easy to get along with friendly and have good interpersonal skills and work ethic.  This is important when the waiting area is packed and stress is running high. They are easy to work with and everyone helps out.
  The hardest part of this job as a float is not having a solid schedule and unpredictable hours. I'm a routine-oriented person and struggle occasionally with this uncertainty.
  The responsibility and working closely with so many different people and personalities is enjoyable.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working short staffed in multiple roles with no extra pay for extra responsibilities 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Open door with 3-4 employees 10-15 patient in and out in half hour, community paramedic drop off start an hour after opening, house call drop offs from two employees with 10-20 patients each to data enter and process before 11 am. Now one less coworker for 2.5 hours pack and process all samples recived by 11 am to pick up at 1 pm. Data entry in 30 min rounds take blood  every 5th patient check and load/ unload centrifuge, match specimens for processing (5 mins max) inform patients wait time is long. Repeat until 130. First driver pick up arrives. receive supplies, stock using fifo, organize region stock for distribution, take inventory create order list. Unpack samples from currier process like house calls , in rounds with coworkers trading off blood work data entry and specimen processing. 
Restock rooms with supplies starting 3pm  afternoon driver with deliveries 330 repeat process 4 pm submit stock order, print cash log and balance sheets, record cleaning logs package all processed specimens and documents for pick up 140~patient for 3 employees not including house calls drop offs paramedic deliveries, driver pick ups

Many senior employees do NOT do what it takes to get the job done and dump their workloads on newer employees. When hired I was told the company hires and promotes employees based on qualifications and performance - not seniority. This was simply not true. I was not doing the job I was supposedly hired for in my interview. Instead, I was stuck doing the same repetitive task everyday simply because senior employees refused to do their job. Employees are expected to work extra hours to finish work but overtime is subsequently cut from paycheques in an attempt to save money. Employees at the lower level are treated like garbage with little to no benefits - even some people working here for more than 5-10 years do not have benefits.The upper-level management enjoys all the perks at the expense of lower-level employees. This company truly does not care for people - especially it's own. Many unqualified people are hired simply because of who they know and not Bc of their qualifications. Gamma-Dynacare ONLY cares about their bottom line and lining the pockets of its many presidents and vice presidents while making cuts in the departments that Matter MOST. Definitely not worthy of being a top 100 employer. Vast majority of employees feel this way!

In certain departments you are expected to work constantly in over time and have no personal life while managers go home on time and come in whenever they feel like it. They fail to communicate many key aspects of work life with their teams and then punish them later for them not knowing. They expect you to be psychic at most times. They waste a ton of time with meetings that are informative, but with hold valuable information that employees should know. Managers are often seen crying and constantly complaining how much stress they are under with no regard for professional behaviour. It is a very unstable working environment and you never know from day to day if you will be fired or not. They constantly threaten us with losing large clients and therefore losing jobs but do literally nothing to fix the issues at hand except walk around and then crowd your inbox with emails of how poor of a job you're doing. Managers expect miracles to happen, which just isn't possible.

Firefighting and creating complex issues is the culture that this place cannot seem to get out of! 

What I learned is how years of turning a blind eye to foundation investments can result into some serious contention when a company is positioned to grow aggressively! This is due to ineffective cost reductions and lack of forward thinking and visionary leaders

Executive management and ownership and accountability is weak it is all left up to middle management to build, support and manage with little compassion and support from the senior executive members.

My co-workers the ones that carry 90% of the load are exhausted and burnt out

Hardest part of the job is trying to politically be correct and not upsetting the cart that typically has executives being told the wrong facts and them making assumptions based on non factual evidence

Most enjoyable part of my job is praising and recognizing the people that work hard to keep this organization delivering excellent medical reporting!
