So terrible dont even know where to begin. Very poorly treated staff, no communication from management, closed door policy, and invisible leaders. Company does not provide the training and tools needed to do your job, does not utilize employees to get the jobs done. Management is constantly changing job titles cause they're doing three different jobs. Haven't even got an updated pay stub and half the year is gone. Nothing at all is right in this place. This place would make a perfect media story about what it's really like behind the scenes of a billion dollar company and how they treat and demoralize their workers. Absolutely disgusting. I highly suggest corporate looks into management of this place. Or maybe its corporate themselves. Profits, fiscal reports, and shareholders is all they care about. They do not care about the hard working employees that acually make there products. Management is clearly struggling to meet corporate expectations, management is disorganized and clueless. They are wearing out there great hard working long time full time employees and the revolving door of tpt's is seriously unbelievable. It is demoralizing and it needs to stop. Tpts need to demand better treatment everywhere in order for greedy corporations to stop using them. I highly suggest looking for other work maybe a place that acually hires people. Your efforts here will go unnoticed. Very poor environment.

Gates was a terrific place to work for the first 18 years or so I was there, but it was sold a number of times in the last 10 years and each time there were large cut backs and good people released so it be came a very stressful place to work.  However, being a large global company there were great opportunities to learn a great deal about most automotive manufacturing processes and to work with state of the art technologies. 
I worked as interim QA manager for months at a time when managers left or were let go so I was able to learn that aspect of the business as well.
Gates paid its engineering staff well, and early on rewarded excellence, but this caused some salaries like mine to increase to a point where we were deemed over-paid.
Unfortunately in an effort to reduce costs many good long term employees were released which has made life difficult and stressful for those left.

I've recently interviewed for an accounting position with Gates. I've been waiting to hear back from them and see today that they have reposted the position. They did not contact me to let me know I was no longer in the running.

Gates Management, if you are reading this, please give candidates the respect we deserve. Follow up with the candidate after meeting with them. We know you are very busy but we have taken the time to meet with you and some of us took the extra time to send a post-interview thank you. Interviewing to fill an open position is part of doing business... You would get back to a customer or supplier!

Please understand that I am not bitter about not getting the position, there's plenty of others to choose from with my skill set. I am being particular about which company I want to work for and chose to apply to you because I viewed Gates to be a reputable, solid company. However, I have now lost a great deal of respect for your organization.

Transmission parts are made at Gates. Typical day was often times different as you rotated throughout many stations, but mostly consisted of assembling parts, loading parts, unloading parts, inspecting parts and/or packing parts. I also was in charge of a Metal Dust compacting press that would from the parts for the Transmission. I learned how to work as a team and have a keen eye to detail. I also learned how to meet quotas in deadlines, as well as maintain equipment and perform checks on parts.
Managers actively managed and were seen on the floor on a daily basis.
Co-workers were good and friendly for the most part and most were hard-working.
Hardest part is the fact that you can be doing the same job as someone else, but because they are temporary they would make significantly less than you.
The Most enjoyable part was working to meet a goal on a daily basis.

Because it was a small office, it really did feel like a team where we collaborated to help each other get our work done.  My manager did everything he could to support and foster his team's growth.  

However, in 2018, Gates Industrial Corporation when public.   That's when the issues started showing up: hiring freeze, pay freeze, lack of of support from US headquarters.  Their focus was on their stock price so they cut corners to save money and bump up short-term profits. But in the long-run, the employees who had no control over what the execs in the US did, felt the pinch. 

Also, pay was too low... but that's a huge issue anywhere you work.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The knowledge that the products I approved were safe ànd no injuries were imminent  due to my capabilities of due diligence to  a keen eye for anomalies. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Seeing shabby products
 Getting passed.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Overall the environment was awesome.Everyone was appreciated for their efforts.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It seemed that some days seemed to start and ended like I had just started.ALways a great atmosphere,.

Company overtook old company I use to work for. Since they took over the morale of the workers has plummeted, they've done nothing but take away from our benefits and extra perks such as profit sharing and social events. 
Never any option if optional overtime, was just instantly mandatory and has been mandatory overtime for over a year. 
Only perk of this place is it has decent benefits and rrsp match. 
Management is also a complete joke

I worked full time days for this particular job. Morning shifts were from 7-3, five to six days a week. At this job, I learned the importance of time management, as well as the art of multitasking. This job had the physical demands of standing for long periods of time and doing repetitive tasks at a restricted fast paced time. There was also a strong importance to have a keen eye for detail as the company had high standards for its product. The best part about this job was what I learned from it, and also the paycheck of course.

Mainly I would balance pulleys or dampers. In one department I would assemble pulleys. I had no idea before I started there that there was so much science that went into the manufacturing of auto parts.I found that management was fair there and the hardest part of the job was working in the Damper department in the summer by the ovens in the summer. I really enjoyed meeting all the people there and learning so much from them. There was such a deversived group of people there that it was such an interesting place.

Because of recent merger working had to be efficient and effective
However management seems mostly interested in accomplishing the tasks at hand and so demonstrated little interest in the human element , that was my experience after working there on contract through an agency.
