I had the pleasure of working closely with Geotab's Solutions Architect, and I am thrilled to share my exceptional experience. Geotab, a leading provider of connected vehicle solutions, has truly found a gem in their Solutions Architect.

Expertise and Knowledge: Geotab's Solutions Architect demonstrated unparalleled expertise in the field of connected vehicle solutions. Their deep understanding of both the hardware and software aspects of Geotab's products was truly impressive. I was constantly amazed by their ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems, making the most challenging tasks seem effortless.

Problem-Solving Skills: One of the standout qualities of Geotab's Solutions Architect was their exceptional problem-solving skills. They approached every challenge with a strategic mindset, meticulously analyzing the issues and proposing comprehensive solutions. Their ability to think outside the box and anticipate potential roadblocks ensured that projects were executed smoothly and efficiently.

Effective Communication: Communication is key in any collaborative work, and Geotab's Solutions Architect excelled in this aspect. They had a remarkable ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Their communication skills not only facilitated smooth teamwork but also helped stakeholders grasp the intricacies of the solutions being implemented.

Leadership and Collaboration: Geotab's Solutions Architect demonstrated outstanding leadership skills throughout our collaboration. They were not only a source of technical expertise but also a mentor and guide for the team. Their collaborative approach encouraged open discussions and idea sharing, fostering a positive and innovative work environment.

Customer-Centric Approach: Geotab's Solutions Architect had a keen understanding of the customers' needs and requirements. Their solutions were not just technically sound but also aligned with the end-users' expectations. This customer-centric approach undoubtedly played a significant role in Geotab's continued success in delivering top-notch connected vehicle solutions.

My short time at Geotab was great but quickly turned in to a stressful 5 day work week. I enjoyed my daily work “most” of time, but the leadership ruined my experience. If you don’t mesh well with the management you will find yourself unhappy. There’s a lot of conflict of interest within numerous departments that makes it hard to ignore. My position was MOST challenging due to individuals under the same department. It made me feel very uncomfortable. I wish that my job was included in another department when I first started with the company. This is something they noticed while I was still an employee, and they were making the change when I was no longer with them. Geotab was very employee driven and they liked to promote their company by giving away a lot of swag items. This was their way of showing appreciation. It was great in the beginning but it would of been nice to gain appreciation other ways too. They promote hiring within and referrals which is great, but also becomes toxic very fast. Everyone had very close relationships with each other,  which seemed to effect others who weren’t in the same social group.  I’m still disappointed that I’m no longer a “Geotabber” because I know I did a lot of hard work for the company and I still don’t feel it was ever acknowledged. At the end of the day, it’s all about who you know within the company, but most importantly…. who you report to. There’s a lot of managers and not enough leaders. I will also add, that work life balance is something only given to certain people, not everyone is treated equally. It doesn’t seem to matter how many years you’ve done great work, if you have medical appointments, your time is something you have to make up(  even as a salary employee). This again, seems to depend on who you report to because other people I knew there never had issues. Sadly, this has been the result for loosing many great people from the company.  During the pandemic, things really changed due to expanding very quickly, including a lot of management change. I left the company with a lot of questions and concerns unanswered. 

Company policies look great initially, but you quickly realize that Geotab has no intention of following them. "Open door policy", "inclusivity", "accommodation for disabilities", "suggestions for improvement", the concept of "team", and so many more, are non-existent and discouraged. Simple Covid safety protocols are often broken (incl by management) & not enforced. Nepotism abounds in every department. Harrassment by management and HR (who all seem really poorly trained), even for the slightest questions (ie: clarification). Company-wide emails make it clear that their Operations Dept is neither important nor included in company-wide events. Half of coworkers are snide. Other half are too frightened for their job security (which is non-existent too). No real opportunity for job advancement, unless you know or are related to upper management). Extremely stressful & frustrating on a daily basis.

The pros for this organization are good pay and benefits and, more so, a growing company.  

In retrospect to solely my experience with particular management, the cons for this organization are abysmal leadership and understanding of the company.  For leadership to have one-to-one meetings and be on their cell phone and typing away on an email while explaining work-related issues is rude, unprofessional, and lacking ANY leadership skills.  I am not speaking about the CEO as I have no opinion on him, solely on my direct experience with my leadership. For leadership to not know what's going on in the company shows a lack of care and attention to what their role is. It was so frustrating to deal with a "leader" that had no idea what was going on in the organization and to be left in the dark for days and weeks on end because they were "busy" yet never clearly understood company goals, products, and current needs while lacking ANY strategic direction.  



Set your expectations low and then lower them again and you'll be fine at Geotab. Getting anything done here is a feat. The company likes to throw VPs and AVPs at their problems and refuse to invest in modern technology or the change management necessary to move the company forward. Folks rarely get promoted here unless they play the political game of grin and bear it. Pay is below market AVG and while they LOVE doing employee reviews they never do 360 reviews of managers. They prefer to hire externally than promote, new folks with any kind of sense tend to leave before their first year when they realize that favouritism, clout and doing the wrong things is the name of the game. Oh and the annual survey is a joke, they only share the positive feedback, none of the negative.

Do not fall for low salaried call center environment for geotab company. The managers are brainless! The management staff is not even qualified to understand product or technology. It's like I am sheep and just follow me no matter what even if I have no brain!! Half of the people are not even aware of using laptops but are in a management position. yes! micromanagement is at its peak and does not fall into the trap unless you need low income and stress in your life!! 0 star from my end

Working at Geotab took me back to high school. Lots of cliques. People talking about people behind their backs, but never saying anything directly to each other. Collaboration is difficult because it is a competitive environment full of people willing to take credit for your ideas, or shoot down work because they feel threatened. There are some really smart and empathetic people at Geotab who would make phenomenal leaders, but they tend to stay below the radar and often aren't recognized for their contribution.  

I enjoyed the position at the beginning and found the company interesting. However, I found it was not for me and felt it was not a good fit. I didn't feel that I could be successful.  

The company is great but some divisions are worst, no openness or fair treatment. Unfortunately its ruining the company. So many IT assets go waste, often misused by the IT leadership itself for personal gains. I wish somebody from the top leadership takes a notice, get an external audit to uncover the discrepancies.

Overall culture and great people.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It feels like a start up environment so lots of continuous, often chaotic changes.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good culture overall but as the organization grew the politics have taken over
