A typical day of work is fairly straightforward, almost monotonous tasks.  Once you learn the ins and outs of the jobs there isn't much else to do.  The management is a major negative, the company does not listen to the employees when things need fixing.  The people that I work with in the lab are great.  In general though a lot of people need to carry themselves with a little less entitlement.  The most enjoyable part of the job is being on a schedule that allows you to travel the world.

Getting experience in the mining industry

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management micromanaging and superintendents yelling and screaming at you like a child

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was all about the blame game.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy and stressful. I had to take stress leave and when I came back they let me go after 10 years with the company

On the job training. They take safety seriously. Trucks are well maintained but the onus is on the operators to report defects so they get fixed, as it should be. Excellent support for family health issues. Lots of opportunities to move up and a great group of people to work with. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to join Gibraltar Mines.

In my time at Gibraltar, I had the honour of learning how to lead by example. The company always promotes within and recognizes the potential of successors. My time as being part of the staff also showed how to manage as a team and put great effort into team reliance.

If you can shut your brain off and not worry about the politics or poor management it can be good job. The shift for most trades people can be great if your family also is flexible, 4/5,5/5,5/4 on/off shift. Pay is good, benefits are good. vacation/lieu days can be really flexible depending on your department and more so your foreman.

Full time hours with good pay, free ride to and from the mine site, extensive safety training, lots of different options for student workers. I was in the environmental department so I did a lot of report writing and data analysis.

As a Tradesman, Gibraltar is a great place to work. All the guys on the floor are extremely knowledgeable and professional. It's just too bad that their opinion is not adhered to on occasion.

Great company to work for, good benefits and safety records, great chances for advancement and training in all fields you wish to venture into. Longevity of the company seems to be growing as exploration continues.

Was a good place to work.  Made lots of money, friend, and skills.  Lots of training available.  Advancement available for driven individuals.  They move lots of material.
