 Working at Armani sounds glamorous—and at first, it is. You’re surrounded by high-end fashion, you wear beautiful clothes, and you tell your friends you work for a globally recognized luxury brand. But once the novelty wears off, the reality sets in: the job is mentally and physically draining.

The expectations are sky-high. You’re expected to uphold the brand image at all times—immaculate grooming, polished speech, and nonstop energy. Even when it’s a slow day, management watches you like a hawk to make sure you're not just standing around. Breaks feel like a luxury, not a right.

Sales pressure is intense. You're constantly pushed to meet targets, upsell, and maintain a fake smile through rude or entitled customers. And if you don't hit your numbers? Be prepared for uncomfortable conversations and passive-aggressive comments in team meetings.

Schedules are inconsistent, and work-life balance is nonexistent during peak seasons. Late-night floor resets, early morning inventory counts, and long weekend shifts are the norm. It’s exhausting—especially when your effort often goes unrecognized.

Yes, the employee discount is nice, and yes, the clothes are beautiful. But at the end of a 10-hour shift, your feet hurt, your brain is fried, and you're wondering if the prestige of working at a luxury brand is really worth the toll it takes on your body and mind.

Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a high-pressure, image-obsessed job with long hours and little appreciation, Armani will deliver. If you value mental peace and work-life balance, think twice.


A modern, cool looking store in Toronto's very own Eaton Centre. A typical day consisted of organizing the clothes and preparing the store for customers as well as interacting and helping the customers with questions and fashions tips. Multitasking at a fast pace helping customers, and organizing the clothes as well as sometimes cash. What I learned working for Armani Exchange is the different skills, such as working on cash, stocking up clothes and communicating with customers to help them, as well as folding clothes. Management was great, fun bunch as well as hard workers who helped me out a lot. The co-workers at Armani Exchange were amazing, mainly being University students who loved the atmosphere of clothing and interacting with customers, great team work to get the job done when it was closing, cleaning the store and preparing for the morning crew. The hardest part of the job would have been closing because the store would be a mess and the workers would have to make everything including me look perfect and sometimes we would have to stay an extra two hours past our schedule. The most enjoyable part of the job would be moving around interacting and helping with customers and as well as folding the clothes. I love interacting with customers to help them with there needs.

Very challenging environment. The team works on its own. Upper management and HR are awful. They will never respond to any concerns or to emails. The opportunities of advancement are next to none since they will always bring external people to take on the management roles. I would not waste my time with this company. Even though the discounts are a plus the price and quality of the clothing is pretty bad. Also, they are so disorganized they confuse and mislead customers with sales, prices etc. you are going to have to deal with mad customers since the upper management, district and regional manager won't care since they won't have to deal with the complains. There is no type of retribution for your work, the incentive program is ridiculous you will never make comission and they never review the staff nor hold any staff meetings.

Pros

Free clothing every new collection to a certain dollar amount. Great discounts there after, 75% off up to certain dollar amount, then unlimited 50% discount.

Cons

Minimum pay. Not many (1 or 2) of the sales associate are able to surpass the sale quota (even less in a consistent basis) in order to obtain comission. Specially if you are part time employee and you are given shifts when there is not a lot of traffic.
I put clothing as part of the pros, but even so, the pieces are not of great quality. Design, if you are into the street style, yes is good but material wise …

Advice to Management

Set up a better comission structure. Pay up. There is a lot of price margin ( the gap between cost to make - sell price is pretty wide) that will allow you to afford it.

I worked  in my current job from MONDAY to Friday  started at 7 am to 4 pm. Start my day by checking what needs to be restock or refill in the sales floor, tried my best to refill everything before my new shipments come middle of the day. My manager is really good to work with, he lets you decide on your own and if you have question or suggestion he is willing to  listen , I love my co worker because they are really helpful and willing to lend a hand if you need them. The hardest part of my job is when lots of boxes came and we're short of people working on a day , i need to join/help them in the sales floor and i can't open my boxes since i need to helped them in assisting customers.

The change in management is constant as often managers find better opportunities elsewhere in terms of advancement. Management did not guide or lead the team in a adequate manner as management was strict and rigid which created tension between employees and management. Constant turn over was visible during my last couple months working there. On the other hand, the company's culture focuses a lot in customer service which is a big factor in their success and most employees were customer service oriented and everyone had great interpersonal skills which made it easier and comfortable for me to work there.

A typical day at work would be going up to the manager and seeing where you'd be placed in the store. I learned how to talk to customers, making them feel good about themselves. 
Management is excellent with teaching and fun to be around. 
Co-workers are fun to work with, starting competition as time went by. 
Workplace culture is professional and efficient . The hardest part of the job is making sure customers feel good about their experience as well as their purchase from Armani Exchange. Each customer has different needs. 
I enjoy the competitive environment that push me to be better at my role.

over all experience:

- amazing work life balance. they will never let you work to the point where you are burnt out. they also want you to have a life.

- great management. They are more than willing to work with you on improvement and review daily goals prior to every shift.

- perks are really great.

- If you work hard enough, you will be given more than enough hours.

The only con is no room for advancement and a small amount of favoritism happens when it comes to providing the team with hours.

The management was too strict towards the employees. Work should have little bit fun so people do not feel a burden upon them but the managers here used to boss around all the time and put sales pressure every single time. While working there, I always felt that they are not fair. Worked for a month and I was compelled to quit. The brand itself is amazing however they should pay attention towards the working style of people who their managers. I won’t recommend any to work specially at Metrotown location.
