I was really really hoping for this to be a good place to work, but am looking to leave after about a month.  The first day orientation was great and makes you feel like it's going to be a fantastic place to work.  Then you get to the factory...

While the orientation offices are spotless, don't expect the same of the factory.  Lunchroom is never clean so get used to wiping your spot down before eating.  The bathroom is disgusting!  Messes all over inside as well, which is surprising considering they have a cleaning crew.

There are industrial ovens that run about as long as a football field.  They generate a ton of heat and you will be sweating an unhealthy amount.  I have clothes I cannot get my own body odor out of because of all the sweating, so expect to buy replacements often.  Your co-workers will also be "odorous" so have a strong nose!

While the company is inclusive, there is a huge language barrier with some employees.  One of my supervisors has a very poor grasp of English, which makes getting trained properly a nightmare.  The amount of times I have asked something only to be misunderstood and told the wrong thing is infuriating.  Especially when I get yelled at for doing that wrong thing I was told.

You get a $1000 sign on bonus after 6 months to help encourage you to stay.  What's not mentioned is that many managers get a 'finders bonus' for hiring people and keeping them for those 6 months.  Bad employees are usually ignored till that time is up so that they're ensured that extra cash.  The benefits package does cover a lot, so if you can stand all the above you might find that your one worthwhile gem here.

My experience at Give & Go Prepared Foods has been mixed, leaning more negative than positive. While the products and brand have a strong reputation in the market, the internal environment does not reflect the same level of quality. Day-to-day operations are often disorganized, with priorities constantly shifting and little clarity on expectations. This makes it difficult to do my job efficiently and confidently.

A major concern is the leadership culture. Communication from management is inconsistent, reactive, and at times feels dismissive. Collaboration is encouraged in theory, but in practice, teamwork often brakes down due to unclear direction, insecurities and micromanagement. Feedback is not always constructive, and there are moments where it feels like decisions are made without understanding the actual workflow or respecting people’s expertise.

Despite the challenges, many employees genuinely care about their work and try to support each other. 
The potential for improvement is definitely there, but meaningful change will require stronger leadership, clearer processes, and more respect for employees’ time and contributions.

In the several years working here, getting time off during winter holidays was impossible. Regardless, the pay was fair, working hours were respected, as was my phone availability off work hours. Some colleagues can be a bit abrasive and detached from communication, but for the most part the people were good and it was easy to form good relationships with your coworkers.

Management was a bit too micromanagement happy, implementing several procedures that seemed to serve as little more than paperwork for the sake of trying to flex KPIs and not actually increased productivity. Our jobs actively became harder with a lot of the menial tasks assigned to us that were taken care of by us without the need for extra paper pushing.

Raises were irregular, but they did happen - but it was only at the behest of strong annual performance from the company and not any individual contribution.

I had a very positive experience working with this company. From the beginning, their team demonstrated strong professionalism, clear communication, and a genuine commitment to quality. The work environment is well-organized, and processes are clearly defined, which makes it easier to maintain high standards and meet expectations consistently. Management is supportive and encourages continuous improvement, providing opportunities to learn and grow within the role. I also appreciate the company’s focus on teamwork and accountability, where everyone contributes toward achieving common goals. The organization values employee input and maintains a respectful and collaborative culture. Overall, it is a company that prioritizes quality, efficiency, and employee development. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a stable workplace with strong operational standards and a positive team environment.


Give and Go is a large scale bakery company specializing in various kinds of bakery products. The Management is non-unionized. Work Culture is good, diverse and well mixing. The company is growing at fast pace, there is good opportunity to grow and learn.

HR Team is okay. However I found one of the HR to be less experienced and need to improve HR skills.

Quality Department is regulated in a strict manner. Rest of the team is good and supportive. 

Work conditions are okay, sometimes exerted to meet business needs. Salary range is decent, Production area is good, fast paced and challenging to work with.

Recreation activities are organized by company such as Bowling meet, Barbecues, Christmas parties where everyone is invited.

Overall I had a decent time at GnG with few perks and bumps. I would rate it 3.8 out of 5.

The work environment of a company is essential for professional growth, as this experience would be a part of who you become in the corporate platform.

Be careful when you accept a job from this company as it carries a fair bit of toxicity. There is absolutely no communication from management and the office politics makes you question everything.  This company doesn't have teamwork and the concept of working together as a part of its expanding culture. Ironically though, nepotism and cronyism are quite evident. 

All in all, it is a very impressive company, but it can do much better without the petty politics and judgment. 

good place for a temporary start - not a place you can rely on to grow.

GnG has a habit of running a 5000 person business as though it is a tiny 500 person business and everyone there says it. Senior managers surround themselves only with "yes" men who do exactly what they are told. There are no different ideas and no innovation.  At the plant level there is no consistency. The majority of the workforce are untrained temp workers. When you continuously hear people say "at my old business we did this..." it reminds you they are following their old systems and old training because the current employer has not provided any. At the head office level just don't listen and shoot down anyone with new ideas. Workplace safety is the worst I have ever seen. They only address matters after you get hurt

All they do is rush you constantly you only get one 30 min break and one 15 min break and neither of which are actually that length of time it's usually 5 or 10 minutes less and the line operators only move the people they don't like for example I am the only one in the whole job that gets put everywhere to do everything by myself with no help then I get in trouble if I don't get it done I hardly ever get a break and when I complain to hr saying im tired they tell me to get over it or find a new job I don't recommend anyone working here even if you were living on the street you can find much better jobs cleaning up garbage

A typical night in the freezer would be to pick our orders safely, and transport the orders safely to the dock.  Orders are then to be inspected, tagged, re-counted and loaded onto trailers.  I learned how to pick orders on Give & Go's 3 skid roller system and how to stock. I was introduced to a multi-cultural environment - that possessed respect and friendliness.  The hardest part of my job was staying warm.  And the most enjoyable part was that there was always work for  me, and people were always there to listen.

They try to "live the culture" they want to have but just can't quite do it. Still a huge "boys club" filled with VP's who are Silo'd / Stuck in the past / Refuse to take responsibility and for the most part, complete glory hoes. No matter what you do, how well you do it or how respected you are by your team - if your senior leadership doesn't like your hair, face, the loyalty your team gives you, your ability to manage through anything or anything else that may be "better" than they are - they will make you promises, but keep you down. Its sad really - the CEO and CFO are AMAZING but only know what they are told.
