Working at Givens really showed me how to have thick skin.  I felt like a couldn't trust anyone and it was always the "just get the job done" mentality with complete disregard for safety.  I was over worked and when I didn't want to work weekends (which wasn't a requirement per my contract)  I was belittled and made to feel like an incompetent worker who wasn't a "team player".  Givens will work you into the ground and if you are lucky, you will leave this job injury free.  Safety and work/ life balance has always been very important to me as I work to live and not live to work.  My family means more to me than any job ever and Givens will try and take that from you.  Don't trust them, and if you value your safety I don't recommend working for them.

Great place for young person to start at, learned lots, I had a good run there and enjoyed most of my time regardless of the bad stuff. There are some things you should be aware of before leaving a job to come here. The place is a revolving door. It takes about a month to realize how unorganized place is. Pay isn't the greatest, neither are the benefits. Management is a complete joke. If foreman or receptionist doesn't like you, they will find a excuse to have you terminated.  Shop gossip is horrible, nothing is kept confidential there. Many safety concerns, especially on the road with company vehicles and trailers.  Training is non-existent, you are expected to know everything. Again good place for people starting out in the industry but not a good place for long term employment in my opinion.

Management is overworked and have no clear direction from the owner. The right hand doesn't know what the left-hand is doing. So one minute you are told to work on a job,  then someone walks by and gets upset at what you are working on and explain you why you should be working on something else. The absence of clear direction is passed down to the emloyees on the shop floor thus creating an uncomfortable work environment. Plus the owner is always stealthy spying down on the shop floor watching his workers. It is well known on the shop floor and he even has timed workers bathroom breaks and tracked their frequency. When the shop is busy your job is safe and you do great work. However when it is slow, tread lightly because you maybe their next cost cutting strategy.

Unfortunately the only thing this job is good for  is gaining experience. Most of the coworkers are ok to work with but management will leave you high and dry. It's a bad place to practice engineering. I didn't meet a single engineer there who wasn't uncomfortable about stamping sometimes. And there are EITs who rightfully are delaying getting certified. The owner/chief engineer doesn't have your back, he'll sooner put you in a bad spot than share his decades worth of experience.
Also everything there is a joke. Health and safety issues, joke. Possible ethical violations, joke. The likability of one of the salesmen, joke.
So if you're an engineer reading this know that it's a good place to gain experience but be careful what you stamp.

Unless your last name is Givens or you've been there over 10 years you won't go far.  Very old fashioned mind set in how things are run.  A great place to work if you're starting out but more experienced people might find the environment frustrating.

Ownership and Management are incompetent.  
If you do take a position here you will recognize within the 1st week you are with a company that is not going anywhere and therefore you will not either.  Use your time wisely and keep applying and looking for work elsewhere.

The employer is fair, and understanding when it comes to workload. The people you work with in the upper office are friendly. The hardest part of the job is tracking down people you need to talk to when they are all over the building.

Learned a lot there, most of the people there are pretty friendly, and will help you succeed. Management needs a lot of work, very unorganized. Overall a pretty good experience working there as a apprentice

I just dont know what to say.. no real safety  at all at a place that builds safety equipment? No standard or product testing or inspection either. Watch your back.

Great place to learn, they were very understanding in regards to my welding experience and skill level. They helped me learn so much and made me feel welcomed and part of the team right away.
