Working as a cashier in a rehabilitation hospital was a fun experience because you can interact with various people, from young to old. There weren't a lot silent moments, making the work constant, although, the work was never a bore or too rushed. From this line of work, I gained the ability to comfortably converse with different all sorts of different people. Also, working at a hospital taught me to be patient with the customers and to come forward to assist if needed. 
The hardest part about working in the store at the Glenrose Hospital, was always having to make sure your customer had a safe place to carry their bagged goods. Every patient there has a different disability and use different ways to stay mobile, so I would always have to help giving them their bagged goods, and putting it somewhere that won't harm them. Seeing everyone in wheelchairs and crutches constantly can be hard as well, but the best part about working at the Glenrose Hospital corner store is: even thought the patients are disabled, they still manage to keep a bright smile on their face by having fun.

A typical day at work would be mostly fun and enjoyable activities with the elderly. I gained alot of experience in handling an older age group. I learned many new things such as operating a wheel chair and relocating patients and such. My supervisors were great people who helped when I was in need of people. I also gained a lot of advice. My co workers were also great despite the age difference. The hardest part of the job was the long hours which was 9 hours everyday for 2 months. The most enjoyable part was everyday was different, and there was always a surprise.

An easy going learning environment. Ensures all pieces of the puzzle are looked after and workers who will help you every step of the way. I learned how to be part of the team and work with patients who are in need. I was able to learn responsibility as the patients could not look after them selves. The best part would be interacting with everyone and every day is little bit different then the last!

Come in to walk with all different kinds of patients on different units in the hospital. The physiotherapist makes a list of patients to see during the evenings and the volunteer will go see these patients and go for walks. If the patient was not up for walking, the volunteer can sit a chat and play games with them as well. This volunteer job helped me build up confidence for the program I was in for school and is great overall to just experience working in a hospital setting.

Management is fair with their employees and they have a continual open door policy, and are for the most part available to answer your questions.

Friendly atmosphere, a place to grow and learn new skills. I started in housekeeping with AHS, now I’m a porter by working my way up. I find the Glenrose Hospital to be an aspiring workplace filled with passionate workers. 

Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital was a positive work environment, excellent to volunteer at. While there, I learned a great deal about respecting patient boundaries while also encouraging them to participate in the exercises that they were supposed to complete.

Mon-Friday work days, 0800-1615hrs.
Management was great, very helpful with rolling out this project.
Worked closely with a team of LPNs, RNs, OT, PT, SW, Geriatricians & Pysiatrists.

They offer excellent service to patients and as well as the workers. Everyday at work is a continuous learning. The people you work with are friendly and accommodating.
