Working with Global Raymac was a blast. 4.5/5 
They have a great on-boarding process and set you up for success. It can be pretty fast to get all your orientations and then get out in the field. 

The hours can be somewhat demanding, but you still end up with lots of free time. It was my first taste at camp life. However, the company is not scared to take risks it leaves you with a good opportunity to grow and time for self development. It's a lot more self guided then I would have ever imagined. 

For instance, guys bring their own trucks and quads. Most of the more experienced guys all had their own trucks and Atv setup. Which I was surprised when I was just starting with them. 
It's a very empowering company, if you want to run your own truck. They will let you. Set it up how you want and go, they will compensate you.

Global didn't have much in the way of company quads. If you wanted to get your RPAS ticket it was self guided but the company would compensate you and offered a raise. They have some pretty impressive drones including remote boats. Again very empowering and self driven.

It's a useful thing to have and looking back I should of pursued it and would have definitely in the long term.Ortho photos always a good addition to field notes and flight data is in demand giving you more opportunity for work if it gets slow.

 It can be a fast paced job depending what sector you end up in and the lifestyle can be challenging but rewarding. If you like remote work it delivers. They have some opportunities for local work as well in the Utilities sector rather then Energy. 

As far as company structure goes. I knew going into it, I was told the company is divided into sectors. I was hired into Energy and Pipeline. Which I knew would entail some out of town and camp work. Worried that I wouldn't experience much variety I still took on the opportunity. To which I was not disappointed.  

The amount of out of town work was quite intense. Camp life was new to me and can be hard on you. But there were things to enjoy, the company gave you a lot of freedom and set you up well with pretty much everything you need to get the job done. Minus an ATV. You'd have to bring your own. It would come in handy some days but in winter sometimes it would of been unusable or not required. Depending what kind of work you are doing and how access is.

It could be a little intense and safety wise they do have a good program but comparatively when you are out working alone. You are definitely on your own. They have check in procedures, truck location tracking, and you are not completely on your own. But due to the distances and remote nature of some of the work, you pretty much were. But if you needed support it was always available. I wasn't concerned so neither was safety. Everyone was aware of the hazards and meetings would take place daily with client or other field crews so no one was in the dark when it came to hazards.

However, the field staff they have are quite good at what they do. It was for the most part one of the exciting parts of the job. Satellite phones were hard to come by unfortunately but I didn't have a situation when I would of needed it. Even after safety management was aware of cell reception concerns. Ultimately taking charge of your own safety was paramount. You'd sometimes set up meeting a client on site the communicating the night before and have no way to contact them until you meet them in person in the morning. 

The volume of work they took on and fast hire on procedure was a different atmosphere. It also quelled initial worries of getting stuck doing the same kinds of surveying. Where opportunities are there to experience different jobs and work under different project management. 

Some jobs you are in closer contact with a PM. Others you are taking direction from the client. 
With the later sometimes the requests were quite risky or unreasonable. With consideration they were paying a day rate they wanted to keep utilization high, but some area's access was not maintained or limited. Resulted in damage to mudflaps and scraping the bottom of running boards trying to get the job done.

The company sets you up well but again, you have to bring your own ATVs.  Which with the fast hire on procedure, and fast start up pace is something nice to know before hand. They compensate you for it and if you're in it for the long haul it's definitely what you want if your pipe-lining. Saves some wear on the truck and helps you access hard to reach locations. Other wise I got accustomed to legging it. Once you start a shift you could be on it for a while.

Good to know what you are getting into. Unfortunately there was a situation I had to make the call to not complete a clients request due to limited access. They do set you up really well on-boarding, Your company phone and laptop already have your email set up. Impressive considering it's a one man IT department. The on-boarding goes really smooth. All the equipment and software you need and they will supply you with anything you need. 

Great team to work with, and a lot of times it was a team effort. With scheduling and planning was happening at the field level day by day. While Project management handled days off and accommodating staff. Moving people around and supporting each other when available happened both at a field level and from management. Support from Project management was available when needed, and were available to answer questions when preparing you for a job.

Sometimes you'd end up working alone. It wasn't obviously desirable in remote areas, but you still had the opportunity to keep working and a lot of times it was a solid team effort.  

It felt like a work buffet literally. There was a lot of hotel days as well with a decent meal allowance. They kind of spoil their employees, but at the same time you have to sacrifice quite a bit.

It was great work exposure, and I enjoyed it a lot. I'd do it again especially with what I learned from the first time around and bring an ATV. The more you bring to the table the better off you'll be. It'll save you a bit of stress for some jobs that really need it.
Good team, and management was always pretty open just stay open with them. Ended up getting a call during spring break up with a good opportunity. Otherwise I'd still be there.

I had the perfect opportunity to join this company as a green surveyor. At first, I felt very appreciated and wanted, with tons of promises of what the future would be like for me within the company. Times were busy, so we were working almost every day for 10-12 hours. There was no guaranteed time off, unless you asked for it. Being field staff you often are run thin by the office, some office staff are more understanding then others. 

As the years went on, it became apparent that the only way to move up within the company was to have ties to upper management. Lots of friends and family got amazing promotions, while other staff was demoted from chief to assistant. This was extremely noticeable during the COVID-19 pandemic, when tons of temp and permanent layoffs happened to loyal employees, but family members intertwined in relationships with upper management were given more security in new, made up job titles. And don’t ever expect raises, as they feel providing work is reward enough. 

I learned a lot, and met some incredible people. Most of the field staff are amazing people that are willing to collaborate and teach the best they can. But there is a huge gap between field and office staff at Global Raymac and what is realistic in scope of a project. 

I had left a great company to work here. I was led to believe that the future was bright and fruitful not only for my career, but for the company itself. The CEO was new, as were many of the other executives, and meaningful change seemed to be everyone's intention. 

I was only there for a short time. However, in that time, the managers and senior executives demonstrated themselves as wildly incompetent and incapable of leading and building strong teams. The culture was in a steady state of decline and in many cases toxic. I noticed of the people I connected with, nobody enjoyed working there. I heard many stories from field staff about managers ignoring their requests, nickel and diming them, pushing them to work more hours and not giving them the resources and equipment they needed to be successful. Overall Job Satisfaction by most, was very poor.

Overall there seemed to be no strategy or plan. A real lack of direction. The blind leading the blind. No clear roles, and roles that made no sense. Meetings generally lacked direction and were a free-for-all. Little was ever accomplished. I didn't feel like I could trust my peers or the people leading the company.  

It really is a sad mess.   

As a current employee at Global Raymac, I can confidently say that this company is an exceptional place to work. The culture here is built on collaboration, innovation, and genuine care for every team member. Management is approachable and truly invested in the personal and professional growth of their employees.

Field to mid-level workers are a talented  group of people with a lot to offer. 

Unfortunately, the organization appears to have a weak leadership group who focusses on the numbers instead of the people. 

The Organization is top heavy and employs under 250 people with around 10 C- suite executives and VPs. The communication from this group of leadership is so poor, that the  perception of them by the rest of the company is that they don’t care about people, they are cheap, micromanaging and have lost control of the business. 

When work slows down and revenue isn’t high enough, Support staff are cut and executives keep their jobs because they are too expensive to lay off due to their shareholder status. This creates fear and paranoia throughout the company causing a toxic work environment. 

Nepotism and conflicts of interest run high in terms of reporting structure. Siblings reporting to siblings on the executive team and spouses working for spouses at a mid/senior level.  


My experience at Global Raymac was unfortunately, very negative. One of the biggest issues was the complete lack of business strategy or long-term planning from the executive team. There was no clear vision or direction, which created chaos and confusion among employees.

The CEO is especially poor at her job. Often exhibiting unethical behavior - frequently making decisions based on rumors and hearsay. Her lack of integrity and two-faced behavior made it difficult to trust her or take her seriously as a leader. 

The COO has no real business acumen, often making poor decisions that negatively impacted company culture. The leadership team, overall, lacked cohesion and competence, which trickled down to the rest of the organization. 

The work culture was extremely toxic and morale was consistently low. Most employees, including myself, were miserable. I would not recommend this company to anyone who values a positive and supportive work environment. 

A typical day is busy but rewarding. I balance independent tasks with team check-ins, and there’s always something new to work on.
I’ve learned a lot—especially about time management and adapting to new technology. I’ve grown both technically and in how I approach problem-solving.

Management has been supportive and open to suggestions. They trust us to get the job done but are there to help when needed.
The culture is friendly and collaborative, and I’ve felt welcome since day one. Everyone is willing to share their knowledge and work together.

The hardest part is handling multiple deadlines at once, but it’s also where I’ve learned the most.
The most enjoyable part is seeing projects come together and knowing that my work makes a real difference

Management is unrealistic and not knowledgeable. I am asked to do tasks well beyond my job description including management work, and have only seen my benefits and holidays reduced, including a short notice for two weeks unpaid "closure" for Christmas 2019, which hurt my family badly. This after Global Raymac promised a paid Christmas leave earlier in the year, and expanded by opening a new office location and adding an engineering business line. I have "emergency" work dropped on my desk regularly that have sat in management inboxes for days, adding to my stress. Project management is now a slack client reception job, while the workers are the ones with the real knowledge and experience to meet client needs. And upper management is working hard to offshore office jobs. Prospects are grim in the office, in spite of company success and expansion.

I have really enjoyed my time with Global Raymac, their culture is very fast paced, but 
 always have felt supported. You are given the opportunity to grow with the company, I have seen them hire summer students from tech school and pay for their schooling in second year. 

Global Raymac really embraces technology all of their field crews have a drone in their truck, and they commonly use terrestrial scanners, and mobile mapping MX-9 technology where they can. 

It is a tight knit group that I work with and I always feel like the people I work with have my back. No two days are the same and each project presents its own unique challenges. There is a huge sense of accomplishment when we solve our clients needs, and I know they appreciate it because they have told me so.

Looking forward to many more years with the company

Worked a Global a few years ago, honestly the most terrible degrading experience I have ever had as a pc in the field. Everything seemed great on the interview, safety manager who conducted interview was polite and made it seem like it was a great place to work.....Upon starting work I instantly noticed the unreasonable demands bestowed upon each field crew,  it was a you f*#$ing get this job done as fast as physically possible as we only bid this much and if you don't your basically worthless.  I have been surveying for almost 20 years now and I couldn't believe the culture this company pushes on their employees.  All said I put up with it for a year and then parted ways!!  I RECOMMEND KNOW ONE WORKS FOR THIS COMPANY!!!!   CANT BELIEVE THEIR EVEN STILL IN EXISTENCE!!!
