I've worked at Glow since 2022 and I am still loving my job and constantly wanting to be working! Glow is a company with a very wide variety of job positions depending on what you are available/willing to do, which is perfect because that aspect allows you to be able to grow and evolve while staying with the company. 

I started working at Glow when I was in grade 11 of high school and chose to do a casual position which allowed me to work as few hours as I wanted on weekends during the school year and as many hours as I wanted during the summer. As I grew up and transitioned into going to a university out of town I was able to keep my casual position and come home a couple of weekends here and there to work and also be available if needed during my week-long breaks which I believe is a very valuable opportunity for students that are looking to make money and who need additional flexibility in their jobs.

One of my favourite parts of my job is that I am constantly learning new things and getting to experience all different types of job positions. Glow provides you with plenty of options when it comes to what type of work you'd like to do. Some examples are decor, tents, amusements, warehouse work, glow halloween, and the glow gardens light show. All these different types of jobs have taught me all sorts of different skills from setting up large scale events to learning how to communicate with clients and understand their needs. 

I believe that Glow has a positive work environment and all of the employees are very welcoming and easy to get along with. Everyone in sales and operations makes work feel like a second home and help to foster an encouraging outlook on the work that you do to ensure that everyone feels comfortable to ask questions and learn.

Overall, I would highly recommend working for Glow! I have gotten many of my friends to join our team because of the fact that I feel that it is a very fun and rewarding job. My biggest tip would be to just keep an open mind and have patience when starting because it takes a little while to get used to the fast paced environment that comes with the size and amount of events that glow does.

Pros: 
•	Flexible scheduling… usually. 
•	Opportunity to work an inordinate number of hours during busy season.
•	Opportunities to learn valuable skills from an operational standpoint, such as operating a forklift or using power tools, or driving large trucks and trailers. 

Cons: 
•	There is a reason this company is constantly posting on job sites and consistently advertising “now hiring” on the signs on their property, and it isn’t because they are expanding. Attrition and turnover rates are very high, even among management and full-time employees.   
•	While scheduling can be flexible, expect to work long days and split shifts in unfavourable circumstances. Often. 
•	They cut every corner imaginable in order to save a dime.
•	There is a long history of employees being “laid of” due to “lack of work”, only to have their positions posted to be filled within a few days. This company avoids giving notice or pay in lieu of notice, or following proper employee termination protocols. 
•	Management and ownership are unapproachable and do not listen to employee concerns or suggestions. 
•	This company has found a loophole to avoid paying overtime. You will not be paid overtime. Ever. Legal, but sleazy. 
•	Sub par products are rented at top dollar. Many products are not really rented at all.
•	Too many types of products to list. You will often be expected to be familiar with products and face customers without actual proper training. Training is minimal (training is costly, of course).  
•	OH&S is a low priority (there are costs to maintaining acceptable standards, of course.)
•	Job titles, job descriptions and responsibilities are vague and ever changing. 
•	An irritating amount of disorganization exists on all levels.

This company, being in the events and amusements industry, has the potential to offer some of the most fun jobs out there, but has consistently demonstrated through the years that they care far more about their bottom line than they do about their most valuable asset— their workers. 

Look elsewhere for work. You won’t regret skipping out on this place.

Working at Glow was like nothing I've ever experienced before. While they have some really great people who work there the job itself is exhausting on a good day.

This is a very physically demanding job, much more then what is made to be seen in the job postings or interviews, especially in the summer months when things are crazy busy. Setting up weddings and events all summer sounds fun until you've been working 60 hour weeks moving large heavy tables and hundreds of chairs day and night. On top of this, you're not paid overtime but yet "bank" your hours to get put on a later pay. In the winter months, you'll be setting up/tearing down Glow Gardens with no heat on in the building and doing random jobs in the warehouse just to get the hours you need, that is if you don't get laid off. Moral of the story is be prepared to be pushed to your limits with little in return. 

There's no clear direction for Operation staff either, you're thrown in where they need people. Don't take your job title you get hired with too seriously because odds are what you do there will be completely different. I do believe that they are trying to figure this out and departmentalize employees, but I don't think they really know how to get where they want to go with this.

I will say that it is pretty cool to see the large scale set ups come to life, and you are doing something different every day. If you're just looking for a casual summer position, maybe this place is for you but if you're looking for a career, I don't think Glow is the place to go.

This place is a nightmare, you will be hired for a position in a set department, but then you will be expected to know everything. You will be thrown onto jobs after a week of so called "training" which is essentially them throwing an overload of information all at once about all the departments and general inner workings of the company. You will never know exactly when you're working until the day before, and I was full-time but the hours were never guaranteed.. Some weeks I'd have over 35h and the following I'd have 12h. They claim that this is okay because in the event world its unpredictable, but in reality that's their way of politely saying you must be available all the time. I took time off for medical reasons and was fired for it (with a doctors note) and management is difficult to communicate with as they work office hours. 

This job is for sure one of the worst jobs I've ever had and I was only there a short period of time. Benefits are also absolutely garbage for a company that creates so much revenue. Not to mention you basically have no say in what you're expected to do for the day until you arrive at the Warehouse. I worked in Decor which is meant to be setting up event decor, like tables, chairs, misc decor items. I was however loading/unloading heavy trucks, setting up and managing bounces, tearing down events from floor to ceiling, cleaning tents in the warehouse, down to the nitty gritty of hand wiping down over 500 folding chairs. 

DO NOT WORK HERE...

I would not recommend working here unless you enjoy working 12 hour days without notice, being scheduled until 2am without being informed, and being given your work schedule merely 2 days in advance of every shift. I was told I would be working 9am-5pm Monday-Friday and within my first week I was being scheduled 9pm to begin work. 

The management here is absolutely atrocious. I worked 3 shifts here and physically could not force myself to go back to this company. This job is essentially going to set up events around Halifax/Dartmouth area. Every event we would go to, the management had no plan for and gave no direction to the staff. It is basically a group of individuals running around looking for odd jobs to fill the time. Every job that should take 2 hours to complete takes twice as long because there is no direction given to the staff. 

I was excited to work here initially but I quickly realized this job is not at all what it seems to be. The only perk was the salary, but it did not feel worth it when every single time I went to work, I had no idea if they would keep me there from 9am-7pm. Would not recommend this job to anyone unless you quite literally have no life and enjoy killing time all day with odd jobs. 

I have worked at Glow for 8 month and I have been enjoying my experience working there. Few of the best things that has made working there enjoyable are my coworkers and constant learning. For me as there IT/Audio Tech I'm able to use my knowledge in IT that I have acquire for the last 19 year to help with there IT needs and there various rental equipment. At the same time I'm gaining new knowledge in different fields that I wouldn't have thought of. The hours can be long depending on how many events are going on and depending on what position you are applying for you can expected your daily duties to change depending on these events. Good time management, a joy of doing/trying new things and a understanding of doing quality work is a must to work here. 

Poor management will run this company into the ground. Money hungry management demands as many sales be put on the books as possible to drive up revenue, even if it means breaking the backs of the staff to do it. Extremely high turnover as people are quickly over worked and under appreciated. If you excel in a role, rather than any promotions, you instead are stuck in that role with no ability to move up in the company. The owner would much rather hire new staff outside with no event experience than promote within. Owner also constantly undermines staff - thinks he can do everyone else’s job better than they can and makes sure everyone knows it. Everybody working at Glow is seeking other employment.

There is almost no constructive communication from management, to sales, to opporations. People are over worked and undertrained. There is a bully culture among certain members of the sales team that management is aware of, and enables. Only two days after being hired, the employees at Glow advised me to look elsewhere  for employment due to the poor management and rude, passive aggressive behavior from sales.

If you only care about making quick money, I advise you to work in opporations. If you care about building your career, avoid Glow.

There is an expectation to make this business your entire life and to ensure your personal life entirely revolves around this operation. 

Leadership will literally mock you if you bring concerns about unmanageable workloads, or ask to be paid fairly.

No paid sick days, time off was impossible to get (and when it was actually approved, they called me multiple times and expected me to work). 

This organization has an amazing team that are unfortunately treated very poorly - resulting in high turnover and very low morale.

Personally was not a huge fan of working here due to the amount of back breaking lifting there was with little to no training. I had to learn as i worked which is never the best feeling.
